View Full Version : Obsessed about bugs?

Twice today people have commented that all I seem to talk about are bugs. KEBSD made a pretty good point, and summed it up this way:

Priz, you are way to obsessed. Yes they are bad bugs but VMK has many other things to do!

You're absolutely right. Many other things to do. Like create new stuff like the travel boxes (that have bugs) or the soldiers (that have bugs). They need to write new games (that have bugs) and create new rooms (that have bugs). And there are features that are vitally important to introduce in the system such as the red mickeys (that have bugs) and dictionary changes (that re-introduce old bugs!).

They work so hard and they don't have much time in their busy schedule (sp?)! Please let it go and understand that bugs take time to be fixed.

Trust me, I fully understand that bugs take time to be fixed. I also very much appreciate all the hard work that goes into developing and running VMK on a day to day basis!

I did not expect the scoreboard bug to be fixed the day or the week after I reported it. But it has been over five months since I first reported the problem. I have repeatedly invited staff to visit the room and offered any assistance I could to help reproduce and fix the problem - and I have gotten almost no feedback from staff at all.

If I'm asked to correct something that has been a problem, and I neglected it for five months, what do you think might happen? If I then act like I'm ignoring the problem, how might others feel about it? What might you do if you feel like you're being ignored?

I know they work hard. I'm just not entirely sure I agree with their priorities. I want a quality game, and sometimes I think their actions don't reflect positively on the quality of the game. Yes, there have been more serious bugs that should be fixed before these. No arguments. But why is it that bugs that affect staff are fixed within weeks, while bugs that affect the rest of us linger on?

Because they have to release new stuff, of course. New stuff for the events, new stuff for Haloween, new stuff for the holidays. More more more stuff. Without caring that the old stuff doesn't work correctly. Or even that the new stuff doesn't work correctly! That bitterly dissapoints me. What dissapoints me more is that people seem obsessed with the new stuff coming out. Go look on this board and count how many active threads are about new things. Then count how many active threads are about bugs. Tell me who is more obsessed? Because there are tons of people on this board who clammor for new stuff - and if I'm one of the few voices who are clammoring for quality instead of quantity, so be it.

But hey, I'm not a manager, nor am I paying for VMK, so it doesn't really matter what I agree or disagree with. Any more than it matters if you agree or disagree with their policy on releasing old costumes or furniture or...

Am I obsessed with bugs in VMK? Hardly. It is a tiny part of my life. It isn't even a big part of my VMK life. :) Trying to create awesome rooms is - just that there are bugs that keep getting in the way of this, so you hear me mentioning it on occasion. And people seem to think its the only thing I talk about because its the thing I'm most known for currently.

Ok, I honestly dont really care about the bugs in any items, if you ask me the only bugs they need to deal with now are the disconnect bug, and the morning bug, then once people can actually get in and stay in the game maybe the objects should be worried about being fix. What good are the objects if you can't access them or you can access vmk at all???

Priz, i want you to know, i am 100% backing you up, and always will be

Priz you are 100% correct. All the staff bugs..fixed in no time. All the bugs that have to do with regular players..takes way to long! Like the dc bugs, friends list bugs, haunted mansion bugs, and the item bugs should all be fixed eventually but when you report a bug and it doesn't get fixed for another 5 months...well that is way too much. And most likely quality may be BETTER than quantity.

Maybe you should get personal, and take out your fly swatter and go after them ;)

Not a bad idea...maybe they will listen to you then...... ( LOL )

I agree with you Priz the bugs are horrible and I've seen your room and I know why you are frustrated

P.S. I can't wait to see KEBSD's response

This it all about quality, Priz, you are the voice of reason among the masses of VMK. You are trying to hold VMK up to Disney's standards and for that you will be remembered in the history of VMK. VMK really needs to get there act together and think of it as a real park. Do you people think that the masses that visit Disney parks every year would do so if there was raw sewage on main street, or the rides were constantly breaking down? VMK, FIX THE BUGS.

KEBSD said what he felt don't pick on him. VMK does a great job.
However all have a right to their own opinion. And I do know the character of KEBSD is admirable and if it was missconstrued to be anything else I know for a fact that was not his intent. He is geniunely kind, nice, and helpful to all. :xmas22:
However, something is wrong I do know that I have three friends who in the last week can't get into any games at all old or new. And not into some main rooms as central plaza for castle forecourt... so this leads me to believe that something, although maybe not a bug, but something is afoot. And I was told that VMK likes to know how game is working so they can fix it when it is problems. They in their infinite wisdom will make it all work fine. :xmas10:
I have always been very pleased with everything on vmk. And probally will continue to be so.:xmas24:

That reminds me of Six Flags Magic Mountain, they never refurbish the old stuff, and they make new stuff. Very similar

off topic: that is the most time i have seen bug in a paragraph!

on topic: yeah, it IS kind of annoying with bugs. i tried playing the haunted mansion game, and i crashed 5 times. urrrrrg.

Bugs are plain annoying as stated by many users above. Priz is not obssessed with them, nor is anyone else. I'm sure VMK has fixed them, but at least they fixed some of the bugs. i.e: Messy Furniture Bug. But hey, what can we do. The bug I want to see fixed. Crashing during the HM Game, lagging, and scoreboards. I hope staff see this and fix these at top priority.

Scoreboards, color changes, lagging games and disconnects need to be fixed now! I really do get caught up with the new stuff and its alot more exciting to talk about than repeating the same "fix this bug mantra", but it has to be done. Why don't we all just take two minutes once a week to use "contact us" at the VMK main site to ask for a fix of the bug that annoys us most. If we all did, I think they would dedicate more time to eliminating bugs because they will realize that it matters to us.

KEBSD - you have nothing to apologize for, as far as I'm concerned. I used your quote because it was the latest example of comments I've seen - not because I meant to pick on you personally. My sincerest apologies if it sounded like it did. (Picking on someone personally is flaming, and not allowed by VMKF rules. I may disagree with what you're saying, but you have the absolute right to say it, and I hope that by both of us discussing the idea, we can acheive something good.)

And I was told that VMK likes to know how game is working so they can fix it when it is problems. They in their infinite wisdom will make it all work fine.

I agree - in general I've been pleased with VMK. But it gets very frustrating that for something so good, from a company that is generally quite good, that there are continuing problems that affect gameplay. Sure, problems happen. But when they keep happening you have to wonder if they really do care.

Ok, I honestly dont really care about the bugs in any items, if you ask me the only bugs they need to deal with now are the disconnect bug, and the morning bug, then once people can actually get in and stay in the game maybe the objects should be worried about being fix. Absolutely agreed! I've never said the scoreboard bug was the most important, and I've always agreed that there are more important bugs that need fixing. Really - I urge people to pick their favorite bug and ask about it. Specifically. Let them know it impacts us.

Thank you, everyone, for your personal support, and your support in this effort in general.

You are obsessive compulsive about bugs.

I feel it is sad that VMK keeps adding new stuff but never fixes the old stuff. It is like going to a restaurant that always serve oversalted cold soup.

I am glad they are making life better in some ways but please fix the bugs first.

Hugs the pink dude who is pink with anger over bugs and tellls him to chill and enjoy life.:xmas16:

Ok Priz, I have seen many threads and most if not all( including your signature) DO address the issue of bugs, but that is what makes you, you! The bugs are quite annoying and many people let it slide and say nothing-myself included. For all of the "hobbies" you see on the streets of VMK, I do believe yours is one of the only positive and helpful causes. I may be quiet, but I do stand beside you on this issue. If only one voice is able to make colors remain on furniture, lights work properly, games play smooth, furniture remain in place, friend lists stay put, it would be yours. I also feel that when that time comes, many here who have voiced their opinions on your bug cause, will be very appreciative on what you have done to make VMK a BETTER place to play. Do not be sorry for OCD on the subject of bugs, you make up for the rest of us, and I say "Good for You, Priz!" Onward buggy Soldier.:fly:~LF

Priz, I'm all for you sticking up for getting the bugs fixed! Yes, you are obsessed but, if no one was they wouldn't be forefront in minds. You keep the word out there....you remind others that we need to stand up and speak our minds about the bugs.

And I totally agree---I would much rather have waited for Frontierland and the new HM game (no matter how many credits I can rack up so fast) to have had even some of my disconnect problems erased...I figure between fireworks and now Hm, they own me loads of credits I would have won if the connection hadn't been lost...

Keep swatting away at those bugs. They aren't going to go away if we don't keep the swatters handy!

All i do is just accept it, and wait for the bug to be solved.Or wait for a
Priz bug.
