View Full Version : "The New Round: Your Guide to New Leadership"

Recently, there have been many threads that have stated information or concerns, such as:
1. I applied but it said I haven't been playing long enough!
2. Is my application good enough?
3. How long will it take for the acceptance letter to come?
4. Should I reply to the questions in the message or through Contact Us?

These are just a handful of what the questions/concerns are about becoming a leader. Many have received messages or information that has made them think that they are not eligable to become a community leader. I have created a short guide to getting through this process and I wish to referr the Sticky: threads that have guides to becoming a leader, also (Thank you LeanaSpin and Chris.

Post CL Congrats here! (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2026) (also list of current Community Leaders)

Community Leader FAQ (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4914)

This is a full guide to what you should do if you have problems or concerns with the new system of becoming a community leader:

1. Your application: The application that you send should contain how you feel on becoming a leader. It does not have to be lengthy or special, but it is just that you are sending in a notification that you want to become a leader. Here are things that bother many players:

a. The Message: You have not been playing long enough to become a community leader
b. The reply: We are accepting leaders again from Dec. 1st..>

For the first message: As stated by GBShorts:

Couple things.

If you've ever been banned you CAN'T be a community leader unless they lift your ban...

also, keep in mind there's a TON of you sending in apps. it takes that poor machine awhile to mail the questions.

It's NOT a matter of how good your ap is. You could send in a message saying "I'd like to be a leader please. I think i'd be good at it." and they'd send you the questions if they think you've been on long enough.

Time on the game also refers to the mini games they have...maybe you have to get certain scores or something...? or have a certain amount of cash or items... you know, be well established instead of being one of those people who runs around going "omg inferno plz" or "are u taken" and such (Not saying this is you!! :) cracking a joke!!)

So, who knows at this point. Just keep trying and do your best to be the greatest VMK player you know you are. :)

As for the second: It is now December 1st and they are taking applications in now.

2. Is this application good?

Referring back to GBShort's Quote, she says that you do not have to have much integrity in the message, it is just a notification that you are sending it in.

3. Should I reply to the questions in the message?

Yes, as it states in the message: "Reply in this message". Don't go to the trouble of going back to Contact Us because they will receive your answers to the questions. No worries.

4. How long will it take for the acceptance letter to come?

As everyone as estimated, it takes from 3 Days to One Full Week for your acceptance letter to arrive but, if you are not accepted as a leader, I believe you will also receive a message informing you so.

Also, thanks to our very own future community leader, SweepHunter, gave us this information:

AOL does not like VMK. AOL has a history in the sweepstakes world as not giving customers all of their email. It has been a while so forgive me if I am wrong. We who do sweepstakes entries never use AOL.

AOL Has a white list and if your company is not on the white list then emails sent to AOL customers may go undelivered.

There is a post about this on this site. You should get the community leader questions within an hour of your submission. If you used AOL and then did not hear from VMK you will need to change you AOL settings or use a different email company.

There is nothing VMK, Disney or VMK staff can do about this. It is a problem with AOL.

ANSWER:

Set you AOL mail to allow stuff from mailman@virtualmagickingdoms.com (thanks ClubDisCM and xohearrinkox).

The alternate would be to go to a Disney site and update your information and change your email address. Every time you log on in the future you will have to use the new email address. The first method is the easiest.

WARNING: Kids do not try this but have parents read this message and do the tinkering.

And again, GBShorts shares some insider tips on how you can answer your questions! Thanks Shorts!

Ok kids. I'm giving you a SECRET :D

The secret to my own success, as it were.

When I filled out my questionnaire, I used VMK APPROVED WORDS ONLY to answer the questions.

Think about it. Those questions are intended to quiz you on a real CL-life situation!! Why would you want to use language that isn't approved in VMK to answer them?? :)

DO NOT use substitutes for words, INCLUDING NUMBERS and two word things to mean a single word (boy friend, girl friend, weak end, and so on). Instead, use things like "a few, many, several" and so on should they ask "how many" of something.

Hope that helps you all out, and good luck to you ! :)

Note: If there is any information I missed, please inform me. My information may not be 100% correct, but I tried my best :)

Thank you and if you have any questions, reply here :)

Thank goodness for this guide, GrizzlyJones. It seems like ever since we have this Community Leader application frenzy today, people are oblivious of the many guides to the many questions of the CL application process.

This will bring up as a reminder. :)

I'm pretty sure I know how to change my AOL settings to allow email from VMK, but what email address do the messages come from? I know I saw it posted somewhere. Something like mailman@vmk.com or something like that, right?

SweepHunter, your information is now resting in the post. :)
GBShorts: As Hunter stated, now you tell me LOL I never thought about that but, another tip, make your questions as full and detailed as you can! :)

You said how long it may take to get a response for your questions back...

but what about the questions themselves? What is the longest time you've ever heard of someone getting their questions?

It's been over a day and still none..

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there once lived Ms.Behave . . . Ms.Behave always had big dreams. She is nice (but 99% evil. BUAHAHAHA). here was what i gave to them. :) took like a month though cause i used AOL. arg. anyways, hope it kind of helps. (and yeah, the quote is corny.)

When most people think of becoming a Community Leader, they think “Wow! I just want the powers!” But I, along with very few people, think “Wow! This is a great way to help people even more!” Hey, I am Ms.Behave and I have all of the essential qualities for becoming a Community Leader.
Helpfulness, friendliness, VMK smart, role model, and compassion are what many people think when they hear my name. I try to go online at least twice every day, and at least one person asks me a question about VMK. Naturally, I help them to my greatest ability, and my answer is right 99% of the time. I think not of what I can do for myself, but I think of others.
I do not ask people to be on my friend’s list, they have to ask me. But right now if you look at the list, my charm, friendliness, helpfulness, and compassion seem to draw a full friends list.
Because of my being one of the very first people on VMK, I know a lot about it. I mean, do you know there are two Mickey’s in Street Party? Or did you notice that in the back ground of Banquet Hall lies Splash Mountain? I am off VMK right now, but I still remember this.
I am a very good role model for everybody on VMK. I have not had a boy friend, ban, or any other fracture to my account. I take pride in being able to say this, even though a few occasional boys ask me to be their girl. I kindly tell them “No thanks.” And walk away. If more people were like me, that would make your life a lot easier, along with hundreds of VMK players.
As Albert Einstein once said, “Truth is what stands the test of experience.” I am totally truthful, and you can check my account just to be sure. I have the essential qualities of being a Community Leader. But, the entire VMK community rests in your hands. If one honest voice stands out in a crowd, then this is one of the most honest voices you will ever hear.
Thank you, and please think about me becoming a Community Leader.
With hope, Ms.Behave

When you signed up with VMK you created a Disney account. This is the email address you use to sign into VMK. You can go to a Disney site and change the email and password of your account. In theory you can also edit you birthdate and other personal information.

I do not like AOL and it is a nasty word for me. I know that some email companies will let you have a list of friends whom you will be able to receive emails from. It is easiest to add to your safe or friends list at AOL mailman@virtualmagickingdom.com

Just want to update this thread with a little more attention because there are still active posts on questions of becoming a leader. I am also going to update a new list of community leaders and please do not see it as a negative thing, because LeanaSpin is still deciding on who to chose for the list. Happy Holidays and Good Luck on becoming a leader, everyone who applied :)
Note: My box is almost empty and is ready for any questions or concerns :)
