With the recent surge of guests/newbies in VMK because of the iPod sweepstakes, there are more people than ever that need the guidance of the ever-loving VMK veterans. What I'm trying to get at is that there are a lot of new people that need help from people that have been in VMK for quite some time, Community Leader or not. Today, I remembered that help desks are useful to these newer players. With your aid, we can make my new VMK Help Desk a grand success. Here's a pic of the room (I apologize for the size. The image hosting service I used wouldn't allow the picture to be any bigger):

You may or may not have noticed what I was wearing. That's the uniform for the help desk. I couldn't find the shirt that I have on in the store, so if you don't have it, the long sleeve shirt will do just fine. You can wear any hat you please (if you choose to wear one at all). Here's a pic of the uniform:

Before you get all mad at me and say that I'm acting like a dictator, please give me a moment to explain why there is a uniform. This is to give the room a balanced, neat, and unified look. It really shows team spirit, as well, if you know what I mean. It shows that we're working together for a common goal -- to help out the newbs of VMK. That brings me to the slogan. I figured that having a catchy slogan would attract attention, so I came up with one:
Lighting the way for the new in VMK!
To go along with that theme, I put some lanterns by the door, if you didn't notice that in the picture.
I'm going to get on VMK as often as possible from now on. I'll only be able to do that after school, of course.
I can't do this by myself, obviously. I'd love it if you would volunteer to help out! With the accepting of CL applications beginning again tomorrow, if you'd like to show VMK how good at helping you are, then you should definitely sign up. If you're already a Community Leader, then if you have the time, this would be a good chance for you to help out your VMK community even more.
There aren't going to be any appointed hours, so if you volunteer, you won't have to feel restricted to a certain time period. If you see the room open, I'd appreciate it if you'd come and help me out. The grand opening will most likely be sometime this week, probably at nighttime.
Now, onto the signing up process. This is VERY important, so please read carefully.
Please put the following when signing up:
1. VMK name
2. Reason for volunteering
3. Times available for volunteering (This is only for me to know when to possibly expect you. If you aren't sure, just put "N/A")
4. Speciality (Example: If you're good at telling people the basic functions of VMK, just put "general overview." If you're good at giving directions on how to do things, such as navigating VMK, then put "direction giving." It's as easy as that! Just put what you're good at, and you'll be fine ^_^)
Okay, quickie thread rules -- PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING:
1. Please do not spam or post anything purely off topic. If it isn't remotely involved with this post, please just find somewhere else to post it.
2. Any and all feedback is appreciated! Just post it or something if you like. I'm always looking to improve, so I'll take any criticism constructively, unless it's flaming, in which case the post will reported. By the way, flaming just makes you look bad, so it's utterly pointless to bother with it.
3. I'm not begging you to sign up, so if you don't want to, then don't. I'm not gonna keel over dead if I have to do this all on my own, but it's always fun to meet new people and have company while working. :)
4. Please do not quote the entire post! If you have done this, please fix your post as soon as you can. It massively stretches the screen, and it's a pain to scroll through what everyone has already read.
5. Please do not PM me about the help desk.
6. Read the other rules!
If you take any pictures of the volunteers in action, feel free to post them, and if you want, I'll put them in the next post.
