I am really detailed about my Disney planning, and I'm trying to free up some time in my upcoming itinerary to take the VMK tour.

I was hoping someone here could help me with my planning!

I'm going to complete the 3 quests at the beginning of my vacation and take the tour 4 days later. I have to take the 1:00 tour because I have dinner reservations at 5:00 on all the other days that we'll be in the Magic Kingdom. Do you think I have a good chance of getting a spot for the 1:00 tour if I sign up 4 days in advance? I will be going in late September when the park is dead so I'm hoping I won't have trouble getting on the tour at the time I need.

My other questions:
Do you meet for the tour right at VMK central on Main Street?
Are you supposed to get there right at 1, or are you supposed to arrive early?
Where does the tour end? Back at VMK central? What time does it end?

Thanks for your help!

I can only help with the arriving time. They want you there at 1:00. I would get there at like 12:55 or something so I know I am on time. 5 minutes early not 5 minutes late.

Hi! we have done the tour twice now and both times we were asked to show up 15 minutes in advance. This is in order for you to get your name tag (which you keep) and your audio device (so you can hear the guide). We found that most of the tours were not full in advance. They put 20 ppl max in each tour and I have not been on a full tour yet. Four days should be pleanty of time. You will sign up for the tour in City Hall (between the emporium and train station on main street). You arrive 15 minutes early to VMK central in the cinema on main street and tell them you are there for the tour. The tours at WDW are about 2 hours long and you go on three rides, weather permitting. Tour ends at VMK so you can make your born in park character. Don't forget to take a tommorrowland quest with you. The link is in one of the quests threads. Have fun and if you get ABBY for a guide she's very nice!

Thank you! That was very helpful and informative!!!

It sounds really fun! How much time should I allot to spend at VMK central after the tour to make my character and stuff like that? Is there usually a long wait or anything?

Give yourself about half an hour. It's not generally busy but if you have a full tour you might have to wait a bit. They have 6 computers for creating characters. Hardest part is your look and name! lol YW!

Laura:

Good questions.

When I went on Monday of last week, there were only 4 computers and of these, 2 of them were not working properly. I had to wait in line behind a couple and their 2 kids (2 at each of the operating computers). They were new to VMK and took forever to pick their hair, skin tone, shirt, pants, hat, etc. Then they moved on to picking the room and giving it the perfect name and description. My son was napping in the stroller the whole time and I really wanted to hurry before he woke up. It was one of the situations where you want to scream at someone to hurry up but just sit back and bite your tongue.

Also, during this time, the cast members in VMK (in the real MK) were not very helpful. In fact, the people asked one of them how to move their character and the guy mummbled, I don't know. I ended up helping them firgure out the basics of the game. When I finally created my in park character, it took me under 2 minutes (and my child awoke from his nap screaming). Click click click and I was done.

It was during this long, long wait, that I did get to meet and talk to another VMK player who greatly helped me on my quests. Too bad I have no way of thanking her properly.

On Friday, of last week, they had 5 computers set up. However, none of them were able to log into VMK when I was there in the morning. Once we finished the tour, they were up and everyone else jumped on a computer. I ended up comming back and didn't have to wait in line at all.

Also, the cast members in VMK Central were much, much more helpful, courteous and friendly. But also, a bit nosey. I logged in as Chele to check my messages (I'd been away for 2 weeks) and saw my friend on. I went to talk to him and a cast member came over and watched over my shoulder for the whole conversation. All the while asking me questions making sure that I knew what I was doing and who I was talking too. (on a side note, it was at this time that I noticed the CL next to my name but thought it had to do with actually logging on while in the park).

Once I got into VMK on Friday, my biggest complaint was the keyboard. I couldn't carry on a proper conversation. The keys are these little metal bumps and it was hard to type. My normal 80 wpm was greatly reduced, not by the time out function in VMK, but because I had to type with my index fingers to watch each letter of each word as I typed it.

Have fun on your quest. Don't stress. It will all work out for you.

[B]Chele thanks I thought I had counted six but there are only five. I had forgotten about the staff! lol Unfortunately, Disney rotates cast members around very frequently. Many behind the registers are not very knowledgeable but they are trying to learn. Try to be patient with them. They will try to answer your questions (big book o answers) if they can. I also found that our tour guide had not been informed of this weekends activities. My family wound up teaching her lol! It was fun though. :D I'll be back very soon but I won't ask any questions ;) B]

OH I HATE that!! I guess if it's busy I could go back during a less busy time, right? I have the 2 most impatient kids in the world, so a long wait there would be a recipe for a double meltdown!

Do you have to be a certain age to go on the tour?

I'm hoping this is still operational in December when my mom & I are going. I don't think I've explained to her how long the tour really will be (eek!) - she's 81 years young and will be rolling round the parks in her wheelchair & princess hat! :D
