Sorry if this is old but I can't seem to find a thread. I've seen several rooms that require you to pay to play. Are those type of games allowed? Isn't it gambling? Or is the jury out on it? :)

I'm pretty sure these types of rooms aren't allowed. I'm surprised people even go there. I don't think it's one of those kinds of things allowed in the VMK rules. You might want to call a Cast Member or maybe just PM one of the Moderators here, whichever choice suits your fancy.

The VMK House Rules prohibit buying/selling VMK accounts or items. However, I do not believe there is any prohibition against charging people furniture/credits/posters to enter your room or to play a game. Doing so may not result in a very popular room, but that doesn't make it against the rules.

Because I had seen many posts about this subject, I asked two VMK Cast Members a few weeks ago about these pay-to-play room games.

Apparently there is nothing in the rules and guidelines about this; sounds like something they hadn't considered would happen.

I was told that, officially, there is nothing against it. Many guests expect to GET prizes when they win a room contest (and I have seen many demand prizes and complain when a game turns out to simply be a game and not a contest, which I don't think is particularly good behavior). So the thinking is why shouldn't there be games you need to contribute TO to play.

After all, they can't force you to give something. If giving an item is a requirement for playing the game, you can simply not play the game and go elsewhere. You may not think such a game is fair, but it is your choice whether or not to play. And that seems to be why VMK is not bothering about this issue.

If you suspect such a game is rigged, don't play. If can prove it is rigged, inform a cast member and give your proof.
