View Full Version : The numbered pins
Mikey Mouse 05-26-2005, 03:02 AM Anyone know anything about the numbered pins? The only ones I could find were:
1/9 Haunted Mansion
3/9 The Enchanted Tiki Room
6/9 Pirates of the Carribean
Anyone know where to get the other 6? Also, are they good for anything?
shiregirl 05-26-2005, 03:08 AM Here's a few pieces of info about them:
They are based on real pins: the 50th Anniversary Retro pins at Disneyland.
You buy them in the shops: try the store at Small World for several.
You get the castle one as a gift after you have the highest score in your group when you play the Fireworks game. Or you can buy it at the Fanatsyland store (it's expensive).
So that's three more: 2 in the fantasyland shop, and one as a reward. Still looking for the last three...
Yep! I'm a huge Disney fan and I go there once every year with my parents! (I'm a kid, :D) I personally think the Pin Trading thing is a nice touch to the game. Also, Pin Trading was introduced back in year 2000 when Disney launched their Millenium celebration. They thought they would have pins for that one year, but they made tonnes of money off it. Ever since that day, they've been selling pins like mad!
shiregirl 05-26-2005, 03:58 AM I saw someone wearing a lanyard walking around, but before I had a chance to ask them about it, they disappeared. Any ideas where to get a lanyard?
In the game right? Well, I was cruising around and I saw a couple of people who had it. I never got to ask them, because they either got away in time or tried to insult me through relatively immature ways. I'm sure someone here will eventually get it though. I'm just waiting for that day!
I'm not exactly sure when Disney actually first started the pin booths, but Disney sold many pins long before this and I know quite a few people who collected the pins from back then. I think it is kind of fun how Disney added this in the VMK game.
Frumious Boojum 05-26-2005, 10:34 AM You're quite right about that... 2000 was merely when they started the big push at all parks. It was already an obsession at DL a couple years before that.
shiregirl 05-26-2005, 09:29 PM Looking for numbered pins 4/9, 5/9 and 8/9. Anybody have any idea where I can find them in the game? And a lanyard?

Pins actually started almost when Disney became as powerful as he was. Pins were given out the original Mickey Mouse club members when it first started. Disney pins themselves have been going on in secrecy (not as widespread as it is today) from that day onward. They didn't recieve quite the coverage that they have today, as they were not yet considered "hot" items. When I meant "2000", I meant when the "Disney Pin Trading Collection" campaign began. Also, for all those whom want to know, pins were also existant as the most expensive resorts in Walt Disney World (Not sure about others, because I've only stayed within the large resorts) as freebies for those who stayed at the hotel. Though they were nowhere as small as the ones given out today and were more like buttons, they really gone places with that campaign.
Anyhoo, sorry shriregirl, I haven't found any of those yet. I'd really like to know where to get a lanyeard, it looks supreme!
Gotcha. I see what you mean now. I think I started my collection in the late 80s.
BTW, what is a lanyard?
shiregirl 05-26-2005, 11:08 PM A lanyard is a cord you wear around your neck. You put your pins on it. To see pictures of real lanyards, go to http://www.pinpics.com/cgi-bin/group.cgi?group=906.
I have seen a few people in VMK wearing them, but I have No Idea where to get one. And, I want one! :)
Treasure Hunter 05-27-2005, 02:05 AM I think you are mistakin for the shirt it looks like it has one on it
Check the stores
MisterToad 05-27-2005, 04:15 AM If anyone is still wondering how to get a lanyard, click Shop, go to Clothing, then Tops. Scroll down to find Shirt with Pin Lanyard.
Eddiebears 05-28-2005, 04:19 AM A lanyard is the cloth strap worn around the neck like a necklace where one's pins are kept for display and trading in the parks.
I have a pin lanyard on my avatar in VMK. I took the time to go through almost every article of clothig offered when I first signed onto the game site and there were shirts with lanyards. (And being from New Orleans, I chose a Mardi Gras color scheme of Purple, Green and Gold...but that's another topic.) I love pintrading in real life and have been collecting pins and buttons during the mid 70's. So the thought of wearing one in VMK was too much fun. I wonder if you click on the icon for your avatar, you can go through the tops and find the lanyards available?
Hmmmm. That top wasn't available on my female character.
Shadow Pulse 05-28-2005, 04:20 PM Looking for numbered pins 4/9, 5/9 and 8/9. Anybody have any idea where I can find them in the game? And a lanyard?
Yes,does anyone know where to get these please?
shiregirl 05-28-2005, 06:44 PM Yeah, for some reason, no shirts with lanyards available to me. :(
Will someone buy one for me? I'll make a trade for it.
MisterToad 05-28-2005, 06:53 PM Sure, I'll buy you won. I mean one. I'm in Town Square North-East-East.

I'll be there! Thanks!
Foustketeer 05-30-2005, 05:59 AM Pin 5/9 is the Fantasyland Castle if I'm not mistaken! Not to sure though.
Eddiebears 05-30-2005, 06:25 AM It's an expensive one if you have to buy it too!

Still have never seen the remaining three. I had a guess earlier that one would be Space Mountain, so they may be holding on to that until the rest of Tomorrowland opens. Same with Splash for Frontierland. But even if those are both right, that still leaves the third.
Foustketeer 05-30-2005, 04:58 PM 2/9 is Fantasyland Castle not 5/9
7/9 is the Matterhorn
PixelProphet 06-10-2005, 08:52 AM if you are still intrested in pins and such, look at the thread i created, it is all i know and have collected thus far
