You may not upload animated avatars.

But i used to have an animated avatar!
Why i can't upload it now?

Yes, why did the avatar go wrong.. MayaWolf made me a AWESOME avatar but it kept saying: This is not a valid image file.
is this happening to you? I'm tired of it.. i like the old way we could do it :( I wish they would fix it back.. i am tired of: This is not a valid image file.

Im trying to put my tink avvie with glitter that moves but i put it and says...
" Error:Animated avatars " or something like that. Is is happening to you?

thats really weird...my avatar moves, and there is no problem

though, if the file is too big, it wont accept it. that happened to me once. so i just went with a smaller file.

if that isn't the problem with yours, i have nothing else to say to you.

I saw this thread yesterday but I did not have an extra post before my 100th so I thought I'd find an answer before I posted and then take care of two things at once!

The avatars I had saved were saved at bitmap files and all I did was change it and resave it as a jpg file and IT WORKS NOW!!! I have an avatar of my favorite Jack and Sally!

Try that I'm sure it will work for you :) (at least I hope it does!)

The same thing happened to me. I made a really good one with animated glitter and anything and then I couldn't use it!!!!!!!!
Well somehow i missed my 400th post hmm gtg find it.. Now I've really missed my 700th post.. anywase back on topic: I can upload mine now, but they never work!

I suggest chaning all images to JPG, not only with use of Avatars, sometimes on some computers PNG files will not show up, so its better just to save it as a JPG. and that should work, also i recommend renaming the file as well, sometimes when saving direct images, things go wrong. Good luck

This is a known bug that the Admins are addressing. This should be fixed in the next week.

I'm new at the whole avatar thing and I don't have fancy programs like some of you all ::controls fit of jealousy for sparkly, animated, name-bearing avatars::(those are SO cool) But anyway, nowhere could I find (specifically) how to make one or post one or how to fix the thingy when it said "invalid file type". I wanted to pull my hair out! Luckily, after searching on the fansite endlessly for answers, a few good friends made a few recommendations and it worked! Voila! Just like MAGIC... hehe. I'm glad I could celebrate my 100th post WITH an avatar like I had planned! And I hope I helped a few people in the process... that's what it's all about anyway :)

Now I'm off to try making another avatar...

I have the same problem...I've waited a week to see an answer and still don't see it addressed in this thread. A far as changing the file type or name this is an animated .gif. A working link to an image hosting site gives me the same message. It seems to be a permission or firewall refusal. BTW I am able to upload a non-animated .gif as you can see by my present avatar. Any answers please? Update by Jim B on 10/24/05... Now I display an error message "invalid file type" on the upload, but the animated .gif avatar seems to be displayed and in my profile.

I can't use animated avatars either Mines moves but i can't use animated avatars.

I think they fixed it, because I uploaded my sparkely avatar just fine.

What's going on? We used to be able to use animated avatars and profile pictures. Why can't we? Will it be fixed soon?

My avatar before was animated and it uploaded fine. I can do profile pictures too, I'd contact the mods if I were you, Marina.

I've been going crazy with this problem. One day, I spent 1 1/2 hours making an animated avatar of my vmk person blinking. Then it said I couldn't upload animated avatars. I think the mods are probably trying to reduce the clutter and distraction that some animated avatars make. Just guessing.

:CastMem:We just got this problem resolved on TTC. So the admin that knows how to fix this will begin working on this shortly. There is no easy way to fix this, so it takes time to resolve all of the issues related to this. Please, be patient and it'll be fix.

how do u put moving animated pictures on ur avitar when i try it say no animated pictures alowed how do u put them there?
