Secrets to a successful Game room in VMK - by SailorX

Think of a creative name.
Promise a prize to attract Players (be sure you keep all your promises).
Have a teleporter connected to another room of yours so you can get back into the room if you lose your connection.
To get more people to come to your game, ask Players to invite their friends.
Put the rules of the game in a photo album and tell people to read it when they come in.
Don't be rude to Players and don't boot if someone is not responding - give them a chance.
Have a prize room connected to your game room, and let Players pick their own prize.
If people don't come, don't worry. Have some patience and wait awhile.
Have fun!
Remember, Players whose name starts with "CL_" are Community Leaders, and they're here to help you.

Event News
Cast your votes! This week across America, in cities large and small. people are voting for candidates and issues. And it's the same story in VMK - we're giving you the chance to vote too! We'll be renaming some shirts just for the election; wearing them is how you register your vote. After the Event is over, their old names will come back.

The Emporium shop will be your Polling Place. Look for the shirts in the Specials area, and buy the one that matches your vote. Wear the shirt around VMK to show others how you voted; it's a great way to get to know who agrees (and disagrees) with your opinion, and a cool way to make new friends.

Friday, November 11: Who is your favorite -- Shrunken Ned, the Yeti, Esmerelda, Captain Blackheart, or the Dragon? Don't be surprised to see some campaigning going on this week; they seem determined to sway your vote by making promises.

Saturday, November 12: What is your favorite VMK game? We know you play them to win credits, and maybe to try for the High Score. But which one is your absolute favorite, win or lose?

Sunday, November 13: When is your next trip to a Disney Park? We hope you have plans to visit Disneyland Resort in California or Walt Disney World in Florida; the question is, how soon are you going? Choose the shirt that most closely matches your plans; if you don't have a trip planned within the next 12 months, choose the 12+ month vote. Be sure to let us know if this will be your first trip (short sleeves) or not (long sleeves).

The results will be in next week's Newsletter, but you can get an idea on how the vote is going by spending time in VMK and seeing who's wearing which shirt.

November is Hat Month in VMK! Last weekend we re-released the Sorcerer Mickey Hat. The rest of the month we'll introduce one new hat each weekend. Each hat will be available in the Emporium, but only for the dates listed. Mark your calendar!

November 11-13 Musketeer Hat
November 18-20 Peter Pan Hat
November 25-27 Reversed Baseball Hat

Here's the BGR.

We weren't sure anyone would be able to top last week's winners, but each week Players astound us with their creativity. We know that when you see this week's winning rooms you'll agree that they deserve to be called Best Guest Rooms.

CL_MrGenie's Pirate Club shows how to make the most out of stacking items. The room includes a two-story pirate loft for guests to sit in, as well as a drink counter. Through the pirate windows up top, you can see strategically-placed Jolly Roger flags. When asked how he got all this cool stuff, Genie said he has mastered the Airlock Escape game and acquired this all by trading items with other Players. We're impressed!

Casino uses some magic of his own to take Players on Aladdin's Flying Carpet Ride. Enter the room and move from one chair to the next, and be transported to a whole new world.

I love the Voting idea. It's such a unique idea for an event.

This event actually sounds exciting...

It seems that they actually learned from the past, and are trying to get rid of the waiting to get into one guest room deal...

The only down side is the "prize-winning" that seems to be the main reason people log on to these events, but it's awesome that they are actually listening to our complaints and doing something about it...

The voting idea makes me really proud to be an American with our democratic society... It's a great way to have fun, practice voting if you're not 18, and instill pride if you're an American aswell...

Hopefully... it's on to a new breed of VMK events!

Arg. It's always an honor to receive the Best Guest Room pin, but I am sure some of you are a little annoyed at me because I seem to have won more than my fair share of these now (previously I won a BGR pin for my Comedy Club, and I also won a BGR pin during the 50th Celebration event for my Space room).

I was really under the impression that you could only win one BGR pin for the weekly contest, and I promise you that is the last thing I was going for when I designed my new room. I just had an idea for the room a long time ago, and it was fun trading for weeks to get enough furniture to pull it off and to actually see the room come together on Thursday and Friday. Perhaps they made a mistake and forgot that I had won a long time ago (it was actually the first week they announced BGR pins in the newsletter). I never actually saw a staff member in my room, so I'm not sure when they judged it. Also, I paid for most of the things in the room by trading spacesuits from the Blast in Space game, not the Airlock Escape game.

At any rate, I am sorry if you feel like I have hurt your chances for receiving the Best Guest Room pin by winning more than my fair share of pins. Again, that was not my intention, and I feel bad for how things have turned out. I know some of you have spent a ton of time and credits on your rooms and your games, and you certainly deserve the pin for your efforts.

New shirts in shops will be another great feature of the voting. The main thing I like is the fact that this serves more as a conversation piece then anything else. Cool new stuff, and great topics for debates. I will open my theatre on those days for debates. I also like the best game reward, I plan on opening my game up to folks who would like participate. ^ Mr.Genie, dont feel bad, you have some great rooms.

Has anyone see the other BGR winner this week or know the owner? It sounds very interesting and I'm curious about what it looks like.

(And a Best Guest Game? Interesting! Now... if they would fix this dang bug...)

I like that they are trying a new idea for an event. But there is a post about having pride to be American because you can vote. Well, remember, many more countries can vote and this is a pride for freedom(In VMK)....for everyone!

I just hope that people buy the shirts they want and exit the room. Keep the crowd control at a flow. :)

This seems to me like the best VMK event ever planned. No waiting in lines, no begging for prizes, and plus a new hat!!!

VMK is about the friends. And this voting business will get some friendly, whole-hearted debates going on. I look forward to seeing what happens this time.

Genie, I think your rooms are some of the best in VMK. However, I totally agree with your statement, and I would like to thank you for pointing that out.
