I'm still going to be verbose, try to do dumb tricks on people at VMK (here's one that I don't know has been mentioned here yet: when you take pictures, emotes are saved in pictures too; position your emote just right, and... I call it face painting with souvenir photos!), and wander around aimlessly.

Anyone else think that the "CL_" prefix is really annoying? I'm going to write to VMK to request that all names after "CL_" and "VMK_" also be allowed to say as screen names. It just looks and feels weird to me otherwise. As I said to someone else, it feels like being saluted all the time :(

I have a question for all of you Community Leaders, if you are under 13 and you want to be a Community Leader and you put your parent's e-mail, does your parents have to do anything, or is it just notifying that their child is going to be a Community Leader?

It isn't fair! No matter what I did I didn't let me apply to be one!! My mom even tryed and it said she needed to spend more time in the kingdom! I have been in the kingdom as long as it has been open for goodness sakes!

You may have started when the beta opened as well as many other players. But thats not what they mean. The actual time you are on VMK is what matters. I think they want people who are on a lot so they are able to help a lot. Many people applied but are only on a couple times a week. Try being on more.

I'm not exactly sure, but I really don't think they don't count the hours. Because then, I would not have been able to apply for CL on June 23 (which I did). For that first month I was in school most of the time. And I was only able to log in say 2-3 hours of VMK a day. And from June 19-22 I didn't get on at all because I was at Sail Academy.

But then came June 23, and I tried to send in an application and lo and behold I was able to apply!

Just remember everyone, your memory may be a little weird about how long you've been playing VMK. When you're in an environment which changes on a daily basis, and you post frequently on an ever changing forum, you forget the real amount of time you've been playing.

It's hard to believe that so many of my friends from VMK are now leaders of our community. I logged onto VMK and looked at my friends list saying, "who's CL_###? Oh my gosh he/she's our new community leader!"

You don't receive an e-mail. It just happens one day and then you will know whether you are one or not!

I applied about three weeks ago or so. I had applied before that too. Only a couple times did I get the you need more time in the Kingdom message.

Yes. Some people say the CL's are going to help out with the party coming up. If that is true I am really open for it. I think for some it would be good. But for other CL's they may not be able to handle all the stress.

I second this. I'm already seeing CL's wandering around like they work for Disney. Come on, folks, it's just a button. You aren't a CM now, and we all know who you are. Congratulations and all, but you don't need to brag.

OK...I'm a CL too so I kinda feel like I can say this. GBShorts and Ottsel brought up good points.

VMK wanted Community Leaders to help them out. If there are BIG problems, and they don't see it they'll bring your reports to the front of the line. If they need help with an event they'll call upon Community Leaders. If people need help in the game, they can go to the Community Leaders for some good help. CL's, though, aren't the VMK Police!

The most important part of this job is not if you will get stressed out while getting bombarded with questions. It's if your ego will not explode once you get the title!

We are the same people but with little buttons when you click on us. A certain leader i'm not saying who, but she walk's into a room. And says Hello. I say Hello there back. She goes " Look at me " " Im now CL_coolbiscuit" And then walked around all day acting like she owned VMK. I was in a room with her and someone asked me for help. I started helping. She said " I'm a CL so i should help" I just continued helping.

This is taken out of context from the other board I hang out at, but it's how I feel about the issue. Sorry if parts don't make sense, because they were a reply to a different thread.

From their web site, community leaders (dang it, I am not a leader!):
help other Players by answer[sic] questions, giving directions, and being positive role models for others. VMK Community Leaders are not there to police or report others, and don't receive any sort of special "powers" — they are here to help.

That sounds fine except for the positive role model part. Sad will be the day when anyone looks to the Green Guy as a role model. Pandemonium and chaos at VMK. Timmy down the water hole. Popcorn disasters, talking trees, drive-by face paintings, Killer attack fireflies of Doom...

In case you're curious, I have not received any communication (either email or VMK PM) from the VMK, so there's no extra information or anything. (Not even to notify me of the CL thing.)

Really, though, I think all should stay the same. If it doesn't, Bezoar will retire and come back as a new person. I have no problems "retiring" and reincarnating. Which will also happen if they ever ask me to stop posting criticisms and suggestions here for improving VMK. (For example, getting rid of the '!' is about the dumbest thing they've done in a few weeks, but not as bad as when they got rid of '.')

Oh and I had a problem with a Community Leader yetserday (Not naming names) s/he was acting all stuck up. like s/he new everything and was special. But anyone can be a Community Leader any anyday (not like the real thing but) we can still help out people like Community Leaders but i would never say I was a Community Leader with out my name being CL_Anne and also with that CL badge. Thats just wrong

With this kind of attitude, you are a bit less likely to become a CL I would think. If you would read the threads, nobody has received a response to their emails to VMK staff. It's not just you, nor is it something to be mad over.

LOL, those were not people asking questions, that was (mostly) just our usual gang of people! :) We are usually at Central Plaza, and for whatever reason, generally stand on either side of Main Street on the right of the screen.

There were 3-4 of the usual central plaza group I hang out with, and the questions I got from them (ribbing, ribbing) were along the lines of:
- "What is the meaning of life?"
- "Why am I here? Why are you here? Why is he here?"
- "Why?"
- I answered "For tea too", and for that, I received from my "friends" ;) the promise of a reporting about how bad I was at answering questions and helping. :)

The other 2, you know because you dealt with them very nicely, Ceburto.

These were two guests who entered the room, walked up to our little group of people, and said "Say something so I can tell you to shut up", and proceeded to "Die Die Die". Right around then was when Ceburto came in and dealt with the matter, with the help of VMK_Mocha.

Some guests are just not very Magical. ;)

Just got home from WDW today (I've been gone for 2 weeks) and, ta-da, I've become a Community Leader, too.

I just wish that I had gotten an email or message letting me know so that I didn't become confused when my name changed. And also letting me know exactly what I'm supposed to be doing (or not doing).

I'm so sorry to hear that -- how absolutely rude of them. I also don't think you should take this personally, or use the "other more deserving people" line!

As you may have noticed on another CL-topic thread, CL's are getting bashed quite nicely for not "deserving" their badges, and clearly some people are not happy with the current crop. It probably doesn't mean much to you, but I think you're more "deserving" (whatever that means) than I or a couple of other "badged" CL's are that I've seen.

Take it as you will! And I'm glad you've gotten a name back.

I applied 2 days ago and I still haven't gotten an answer. How long did you guys have to wait for one?
It took a week or so for them to say that they have received my application and they sent me several questions that I answered and sent back as soon as we got back from vacation (because they decided to send it to me while we were gone) which was a few days ago. I logged on last night and I found out I was a CL. If I hadn't lost my voice due to something or the other, I would have screamed. Trust me, you'll find out whether or not you have been accepted when you least expect it. Me? I had been planning on taking a "normal day" and taking off all my rare stuff and walking around VMK without people attacking me to trade.... There went THAT plan...
