Ok I know it is nice to have everything organized and together but I for one am not liking the idea of having to go through old posts and try and find stuff in "merged" threads, that have like, 54 pages. You dont know who is talking about what, and people are responding to diffrent things on the same page.

Its so much easier to have a new thread for a topic.

Like I can understand when they merged all the "IM LEAVING!" threads, but people have taken it upon themselfs to make "Post all blah blah here!" (No offense to the creaters of those threads, I know you mean well.. it just is annoying to have to post something new into an old thread, people dont usually bother too)

Is space is such an issue for the boards, then why don't they just delete old stuff?

I think everyones (well, with some execptions) topic deserves to have a new thread because not everyones situation is the same!

So yeah, thats all ;)

do you have a specific example?

Also, are you aware that not only is there the general search above BUT each thread has a search bar that says "search this thread"?

BrittaWe are in the process of restructuring VMKF. This may solve some problems that you're speaking about here. I do feel a lot of the problem falls to many of the users just wishing to add their "I agree", "my turn, Thanks...", and other non-contributing posts to threads. These really aren't spam, but not really helpful to the thread. They do increase the amount of post counts per thread and makes it very hard to find real discussions taking place in a thread. Maybe they wish only to increase their post count, which doesn't matter at all or they just wish to be shown as being vocal. Either way, those posts are pointless and the direct cause of such large threads.

As a mod, we are forced to merge same topics to keep this site organized as much as possible. I'd rather have a single huge thread than 1000 threads on the same subject to review. If you think things are bad now, you'd think it was worse if we didn't merge some threads. Some topics could actually be in multiple forums do to their topics. If they we allowed a 1000 threads on the same subject matter, then they would be all over the forum. Merging them keeps these in a single locations for everyone to read. Many answers are given and so we avoid the same question being repeated several times. This actually helps to keep post counts down in some threads. Some users fail to fully read a whole thread so some things are repeated. This is just going to happen.

I hope you can see this topic a bit more from our prospective and understand that we're just doing the best we can to help the forum. If you wish to add further comments or questions, then feel free.
