1) To Make it clear the VMK Magic Fireworks, will only be accessible for those who visit the Disney Parks in Florida or California?

I asked him when the other lands will be out and he said not long but not soon so we just have to wait.

We will be adding content to the world all the time. Frontierland and Tomorrowland are both on the way. We are also working on a Haunted Mansion game as well as some other games.

Also, not all of the magic is in the game, more spell will be ready very soon.

Should I be prepared to stay in Disneyland all day long on the 17th? I don't want to miss anything, and if park reaches the limit I don't want to be locked out. If they do have something special planned will they tell you when you check in? I'm staying at the Disney Resort. :)

Me and Matt also use i have found ... hidden mickeys, We use dots as Numbers as well. However KB AWESOME POEM . LOL. Its also fun finding words to use.

I sometimes use numerals...like I I I I I I is six. Not so easy to say anything. The game is so fussy about contractions too...

I think they blocked numbers so people can't tell each other their ages. They should add simple numbers like one, though. It's very common, and it's annoying not to have it.

How would words like a thousand or 999 be reason to block numbers based on ages?

It's phone numbers and street addresses that they want to block.

My son and I also live on the other side of the planet. Last night, we each registered on VMK simultaneously, with me walking him through the process.

My registration required that I indicate that I was either in the U.S., Canada or Mexico. No other option was given. I grudgingly submitted an address I use in Canada (as I previously found it necessary to do for ToonTown as well).

On the other hand, my son, perhaps because of his young age, said he was not required to submit a country or address. But in his case the e-mail address I provided him through one of our local "foreign" servers was rejected. (To overcome this I gave him my yahoo e-mail address).

In my opinion Disney is doing itself a grave disservice not providing equal and fair access to its sites throughout the world. Separate toontown servers for selected countries do not appeal to people who want to participate in the global community and playgrounds. It is our privilege, both Americans and "foreigners", to be able to interact together now that the necessary technology exists.

Not everyone in other countries has the option of providing a physical address in North America. I think this issue should be addressed forthwith and satisfactorily so as not to replay the frustration experienced previously with Toontown.

I agree with Rabbit Stu, but I'm cautiously optomistic that this will change and players from other countries will be able to register. After all, the site does say...

Disney's Virtual Magic Kingdom (VMK) lets tweens and teenagers experience the awesome magic of Disney Theme Parks from home. It's a bit like a game, but all the Characters are controlled by real people playing from locations all over the world.

Keep in mind that the game is brand new, I'm sure they'll be adding more things to do and more places to play as time goes on. Hopefully.

This is a BETA, just like TT, VMK will probably expand across the globe. Don't worry...although it might take some time.

VMK will need to drastically change their filter if they want users to communicate usefully.

For example. Yesterday I tried to tell someone "Aim for the red ships" but the word "aim" was blocked. Couldn't even help someone because of the filter.

I faced the same dilema coming from the Uk, I chose to leave the choice at 'set country' and didn't pick. UK was not an option and I didnt have any address I could use, so I filled my UK address and put England in the state box, but didnt pick a country. I did wonder if they had limited it to North America, but they had specifically mentioned international users on the page so I figured It was worth a try and it was accepted, so you can use your "real" details

Timing in UK is from 4pm to 7am for any other Brits, not as bad as you Aussies, lets hope it will change:)

Yes, the dictionary is ridiculous. I can't say "hard" or "difficult" even. WHY?! And numbers, while I understand not wanting to let little kids give their addresses and phone numbers, is just wrong. I can't tell anyone how many Hidden Mickey's I have without stealthily finding replacement words. The word "number" "seconds" "minutes" and "yesterday" are also not in the dictionary.

I tried submitting words twice now, and I get an error message. Why wouldn't these simple words already be in the dictionary? it's silly!

I have to admit that the dictionary is a time eater when trying to communicate with folks quickly. One has to go in and edit out the flashing words constantly. But hey, that's what Beta testing is all about right? It's all great!

O_O That would really **** after all we've done getting points and furniture and scores etc -- and then we'd have to find out friends again. :( I wouldn't think they'd do it for this -- did they do that for toontown?

I've enjoyed what I've seen so far in VMK. One thing I would love to see, would be the capibility for the program to link to videos (via the Disney website) of parades, rides, and shows (based on where you go or what time of the day it is.).

2) What's up with all the black screen crashes.

Something i would like to see added to the game is a phrase telling guests that my friends list is full. On toontown when you're full and they ask, the get an auto reply that says "Sorry, SillyPrincess has too many friends already".

I feel so bad, cuz they're standing in my face waiting for me to accept them, and I don't want them to think i'm being rude and just not taking them.

1. No way to close them yet, but very soon the turnstyle can be locked and unlocked only by the room owner...

1. Sorry for the slowness, the game is currentlly designed for broadband. Not sure that is much help...sorry

2. Yes, keep your eyes open there is aready a code released!!

Home Theater gave me an idea. Can your people program movie screens to buy plus an assortment of fake animated movie loops to show on them, such as Disney Characters or Theme Park "home movies"? That would give Home Theater something to show. Even a "TV" would do the trick.

I know I'm not Yavn :) but I might be able to answer your mickey question. I had the same problem. I went over and over all the mickeys and I was sure I had all 50 but the game said I only had 48. A cast member told me that this was a known issue and to keep taking pictures, which may help force the game to give you credits. About 10 minutes later after doing a couple rounds again and taking more pictures, I was given full credit for all 50.

I might be able to help out with this one, This has happened to me several times while trying to submit new words and sometimes it says my information is wrong when i know everything is accurate, and i usually double click the next button and it lets me through.

Also make sure you go to this link, and on the right hand side it says Volunteer as a Community Leader then it says apply. If you click on that it takes you to the contact us information

Also with the Hidden Mickeys, I had that exact problem i went through VMK taking the 50 Hidden Mickeys 3 times as well, and then i was like well i will just go through it again and on of the pictures i Know that i have, had a Golden Mickey once i took it so i knew it was a new picture. The weird thing about that is that picture counted for 2 because i only had 48 and then it said i have 50. Not sure if you know this but check daily because they fix things and some mickeys count again each day.

I allways get an error when doing a help mesage to be a Cast Member?
Whats that about?

How about a option to lock your room with a password? That way...people who "work" in your room can get 24 hour access to it. If you enter with a password...the owner does not need to be in the room. Also how about adding the option to give furniture rights to people. You could manage the list as the owner and the people on the list could move, rotate and interect (such as locking and unlocking turnstyles) with furniture.

We need more hats. Not just for winning, for simply buying or for being a member. The pith helmet, goofy hat and that spotty thing just ain't enough. Where are the Cheshire Cat, Pooh, Donald, bowler, straw, top, . . ., hats? Where are the MICKEY EARS? (Black and DLR gold, of course).

I am registered at VMK and have not been able to get into the game. After logging on a new "black screen" pops up with the VMK icon in the middle. The icon is there about 3 seconds then is gone. I get no download bar at the bottom of the screen like my friends get before the game opens for them. :cool: And I cannot click the icon to see if it will take me anywhere. :rolleyes:
The screen is just black and remains that way. :o
I still Have the main VMK home page in the backround.
I have deleted and reinstalled shockwave from the VMK site.
(thinking somehow that might help) Still nothing. :eek:

Yavn, I would like to first say, its great finding another online forum, in which desighners, and moderators, of the game partake, and help with the discussions.

Secondly, I noticed a glitch while dancing your limbs dissapear at different intervals, I am sure others have noticed. [as a side note] if you are sitting down, and then dance, and then get up, you will have no arms period, till you stop dancing.

I know you're going to roll your eyes and groan when you read this lol :) I'm that girl you met today at the Magic Kingdom in WDW at the Main Street Cinema. Yeah, the one who was harassing you and Terry about getting magic. Oh by the way did I mention that Terry is awesome (will that get me magic?lol). Oh well on to the point of this post, I traded with a few people today so that i could get more invisibility magic pins (i know i know, i'm obsessed with magic, what can i tell you) that way i could combine them and my magic would last longer and i could have a shorter wait between uses. My problem was that i combined two pins and it showed the two stars in the lower left hand corner of the pin, but when i added the third pin nothing changed... i thought you could combine up to three pins for the magic pins..was I wrong... or was it a game error...or what? Thanks for your time, I came into a room you were in just as you were leaving, hope to see you on VMK soon.

First off Yavn, thank you so much for taking your own time to answer these questions. I really appreciate it!

1) Can you sell or trade a room? My son spent 500 credits on a Fortress room and then he won one at fireworks. He was really bummed if he had known he could have won that room he would not have spent the 500 credits (which are precious to him, I would give him my credits if possible). He has seen the haunted mansion room and the priate ship room and would have loved to spend the credits on those when they become available.

2) This is a suggestion that kind of goes along with my first question. My suggestion is if you are going to give a room free (which I do think was a great idea) that the room should not be available to purchase, it should be something special you can only get as a reward for winning the that game!

I've seen it said personally 3-5 times and said it once in awhile in my own guest room just to see if it was blocked yet (never in context as to say it to someone!)

quick Q: are you paring down hairstyle choices? especially the girls. although i heard from a game member that guy styles were deleted too. i seem to have less of a choice that when i initially signed up for the game.

if i could make a couple of suggestions, "braids" would be good. i think they were offered in the beginning but haven't seen them since. and a cute, short, kind of spiky or wispy hairstyle for girls would also be good variety.

Why would they delete some of the guy hair styles? I can't get my original hair back. I wanted to change my clothes and when I did this it changed my hair too even though I didn't want it to. Now I always have a hat on.

yeah, i also lost the origional hair style i had, the one with the 4 combed back parts in the front like my icon here, after trying on a hat, i can not get it back. which is unfortunate.

Thats the one I had too. I talked to a CM and they said they reported the bug.

1- Can something be added to the game that gives each player the option to turn on and off the sending of friend requests and trade requests?

I know we can hit cancel or ignore when the box pops up, but that still is annoying to be playing the game and suddenly have the box constantly pop up interupting whatever I was doing. And for the younger kids, the parents can turn off friend/trade requests which makes it even safer for them to play. I'd like to be able to have the choice to say when I sign in "not accepting friend requests today" or "not accepting trade requests today" and that be the end of it.

2- Can "Speed Chat" of some kind be added into the game for the kids to use that either can not type or have trouble spelling?

They have this in Toon Town and it's nice not only for the younger ones, but makes it faster to say things in the game that are used over and over like "Let's play one more time?" "Come to my house" "How many hidden Mickeys have you found?" "Let's go to Pirates of the Caribbean" Let's go to the Music Game" It sure would be conveinient to click on such repititious sentences. And then words like "come" and "one" are not even in the vmk dictionary, so another reason speed chat would be a nice addition.

My son loves playing the game but is slow at typing so it makes it difficult for him to feel like he can make friends. People talk to him and if he doesn't answer fast enough they either leave or say things to let him know they are upset that he's not answering them. I'm really hoping you all add in some kind of speed chat for the younger players. Heck, some of the older players are super slow at typing lol

They have this in Toon TownI think this would have been a better alternative than the "dictionary" approach. I know it limits what can be said in the game, but when my 9 year old plays I would feel much better about what can and can't be said to/around him.

I really like that idea too. The rooms' theme songs get tiring after 15 minutes. It would be nice if the owner in room could also turn it on and off for mini games like musical chairs.

I think the option to restrict access to your room would be nice. Only allow friends to enter or no one at all.

Also, a brb option would be nice. Maybe it would show in your information that you are away for a moment. Sometimes bathroom or snack breaks can make you leave but you don't want to log off then back on again. This is more for others benefit so they don't waste time talking to no one. lol

I first started out with the mad tea party room and then i bought the castle room. The next day i win the castle room by playing the fireworks game? Not sure how but it did happen. But now i have to castle rooms but I cannot sell one of them.

I like the idea too of selling back rooms like you can on clothing and furnishings, or trading/selling rooms with other players.

How about a roaming character to find for credits each day? Like maybe a pixie (Tinkerbell as a real Disney character would be sweet!) that flys around vmk that you have to be quick to click twice on to get the credits when you see it?

As I was just playing on vmk gathering my credits by visiting the 5 characters in rooms, I was thinking it might be fun if a "roaming" character was added into the game that when found the first time the player would get 60 credits, and then each day after that when found instead of 20 credits (like with the other characters) a player would get between 30-50 credits. Maybe even make it to where the amount of credits you receive each day for finding the roaming character depends on where you found him. What do you think, is something like this possible?

Second question, why aren't there any main disney characters walking around anywhere like Mickey Mouse?

Can you clarify answer #2 above. Everything I have seen seems to indicate that you need to score 240,000 points and still lose the game. It doesn't matter if you come in second, third, fourth, etc. I can break 200,000 points pretty easily, but I have a lot of difficulty reaching 240,000.

Disney Mag has been discontinued. I think there is only those little disney adventure book things now.

That is correct, right now you need to score at least 240,000 to get the pin.

1) Do you have any idea of how people get the Pirate Costume Pin (or whatever it's called)? My only knowlage(sp?) of the pin is that it comes out in July.

The receptionist at the front lobby of the Disney Channel headquarters is a Cast Member. The Data Administrator working on the Disney computers is a Cast Member.

To be a Cast Member on VMK, you not only need to be an employee of the company, but an employee working on VMK itself.

You can't simply play VMK to be a Cast Member; you need to work professionally for Yavn on developing the site.

I've often wondered exactly what defined a Cast Member since I'm fairly new to the DLR/WDW scene and have heard the term come up quite frequently.

One thing I'm still wondering is, do you know how much time it takes to become a Ball of Wax in VMK? :D I've probably logged over 100 hours so far, and although I'm showing signs of deterioration (some days more than others), I'm not quite there yet.

I've studied a little and I think you need to play at least a month to play, just my hy-poth-oh-sieze! (I always wanted to say that!)

It would all depend on the type of wax you're looking to be. Ear? Parafin? Bees? It makes all the difference in terms of duration, you see.

1: no given out to those who make an account in one of the disney themeparks, as with golden ears, you have to actually purchase a real pair, and they give you a card with a code on it.

I am sorry to post in a general question forum, but I haven't been able to get help.

I put in the wrong year for my birthday (it should be 1985); the link after I got to level 3 in the Pirate game didn't work (I am assuming this for the invisibility pin); I did all of the park quests successfully (Frontier Land, Adventure Land, and Fantasy Land), but did not get the tour and VIP card(s). BTW the in park quests are awesome.

I have tried going through the site, but I don't seam to get a response. I am wondering if I did anything wrong.

Hi! I was wondering if they are going to do anything to help younger kids or those with less coordination be more successful at games/gaining credits/items? It seems a shame that younger kids (like my son) can't earn high scores or get past a round or two in some games or have to get a teammate to help them. Perhaps there can be rewards for going on a ride a certain number of times or games that have number of times played dependent prizes? Which brings up another question.... How come the Jungle Cruise doesn't have any cool prizes? :confused: Thanks!

Here's a few....hehe. Why can't we say pink but others colors are ok?
If the game does well are there plans to expand to other parks (Epcot, California adventures, etc.) or to other locations (disney Paris or Tokyo)? It would be pretty neat to be able to take the monorail and "park hop". :) Oh, after doing the quests and taking the tour, my family thought an adult (super hard questions) quest would be loads of fun. The challenge would be the best part. I ruminate some more and see if I can come up with more questions! :)

Our VMK Insider Tour Guide told us that VMK will only be around for 18 months...or just until the 50th celebrations are over? Is Disney still planning to shut down the game, or will VMK continue to run as an advertisement for their parks? I mean...the ad is working on me!

I so hope that they keep it! I've already planned 2 trips to WDW in the upcoming months, inpart due to VMK & wanting to complete quests.

Maybe if it stays popular they will keep it. Course I wonder if it would be as popular if it was not free?

I am sure someone can can correct me if I'm on wrong on this. I do not think VMK is only going to be open for 18 months. The tourguide from our tour actually talked about how its set up they can easily expand...that VMK can add new lands and new parks.

I too would like to see longer opening hours for us UK guests. I agree the game was designed for kids - thus the current opening hours, but we all know that it great fun for adults too! I wait anxiously until 3pm to log in. :Tongue:

I agree that the boyfriend girlfriend thing needs to be stamped out. It is very annoying.

It would also be great if codes were given randomly as prizes and if they could only be used by the one person they were awarded to.

It is Yavn, he and other VMK Staff members are a part of this forum, but typically Lurk rather than post, getting an idea of how well changes are being accepted, and taking some of the ideas we come up with and implementing them into the game.

I'm here and yes it's the real me...

Me and the team do read the posts and try to reply when we can. We also read the issues and try to address them in the game.

:) yavn I sort of gotta problem people boot me from rooms for no reason.When the owner boots someone they should tell you the reason so you dont feel bad.Also I dont mind boyfriend and girlfriend but marriage and children and baby doctors thats just wrong you have most likely seen the complaints.I dont mind boyfriend and girlfriend but somethings are just sick like baby doctors.Why does it seem like the castmembers like hide from you or something?Could you please like stay in town square or something so we could tell you our problems in person?Well cast members wont listen so here goes could please make it easier to get teleportation magic because i realy want it so badly but I live fourteen hours away from wdw and about two days from dlr.Please could you do something about the issues listed above.I love vmk so much.All hail King Yavn.

Yes, they are from a previous version of VMK, as the furniture is too big, the people are too small in the user rooms [haunted mansion room shown] and in the castle forecourt picture you can see that the messanger has been removed from the game.

I've never witnessed the effect firsthand, but several people have reported that the magic carpet pin makes you levitate and lets you fly around the room instead of walking for a set amount of time. You can test out the hovering effect in the spell room, but it doesn't let you fly around.

I have a question for Yavn and any others who designed VMK...

I would like to know if the game/VMK community is at all like what you envisioned/intentioned it to be when you first set out to make it.

I've been around since beta and it's been a great ride thusfar! And, I have really enjoyed seeing the game progress and evolve. The things I like to do within the game and my perceptions of what the game "is" have changed and evolved over the last couple months.

I see VMK as a great game for me (a Disney Mom of 3) and for my 7 and 8 year olds! It's an extention of the whole Disney feeling and the fun we have at the actual parks. But, it's also a wonderful community of people who all have their love of Disney in common (well, most of them are nice)! I have met some wonderful people in VMK!

Anyway, I was just curious about your thoughts, as designers, about how the game has evolved about what it was to be and what it is now.

news:i have heared from yavn that right now there are no plans for cards at gas stations.but yavn thinks it's a good idea,to will the herbie costumes be in the herbie dvd.yavn is not sure yet.but it seems likely.yavn said tommorow land will be combinations of parks or some thing.

She has special powers that allower her and Ayluel to pick up objects in other rooms. This helps us test the game.

Queue blocks? that could be good! For all of those people who have played habbo hotel, those could possibly be like the rollers, then moved people, kind of like conveyor belts :) Most people didn't like those, though

Yup. Someone would have said something if it wasn't. Too bad we won't have toontown devs on toontown fan sites. TT devs are more anonymous and are more secretive about future updates. Which is a factor that give vmk 1 point. They are more open about updates. You don't see Disney saying "oh we will be adding these playgrounds soon!!" they may tell you a playground is coming when it is on test but other than that they are like a "mums the word" crowd.
