Because I think that some of the ppl who win these awards (Nedakh this doesn't include you!) just are such celebrities that ppl come in the rooms and they get way popular so the cast members go look at the list and go "oh look a room" then go inside and say "hmm...uh oh look ok u are the first room we saw I want to stop working so here is the award and a bajillion credits ih and we have a rare room why don't u take that too!..." The only reason I say this is because my room is great and its for a great cause and if I could get ppl in it maybe..just maybe i can do <i>something</i> interesting, and that would really get my rank up in vmk. And could anyone who has been in these rooms please reply and tell me in a pm if u like the room: (the rooms are in order of which I think are most worthy of the award)

These rooms are all mine and I worked forever on them, most containing things that are more than fifty credits apiece and I must have spent over 3,000 credits covering the Club Pirate Dance Floor with bamboo tiles (the red kind)!! I feel that my hard work is not getting recognized and I think that my rooms look decent (considering that I have never EVER been to WDW or Disneyland IN MY LIFE, and also considering that I never have gotten a high score or have had a room that has ranked more than two mickeys in the list and the only magic pins I have were from the cereal boxes <u>and</u> my invisibility one was traded.)

the part about the Cast Members looking at the rooms was just a little extra because I was filled with pure RAGE at that moment!!

To be honest, I don't think any of us really know how the award is determined. We can guess and speculate, but we don't know for sure.

From what I have seen of the winners (and I haven't seen all of them), they tend to pick rooms that look nice, are creative, and show something that they can talk about in one sentence.

Well, from my experience, it isn't that sudden.

I certainly don't think I'm a VMK celebrity, although my room does get popular. I recorded every time a known cast member visited one of the rooms involved in the sub race, and I think it totaled about three times. They stayed for less than a minute each time. I'm not even sure any of them visited the week before I received the award. And after each visit, I was convinced that there was no way I could get the award based on what they had seen.

As for my run-ins with cast members, I can count the times I've met them. I've met VMK_Red three times in one of the NPC rooms, with me asking annoying questions each time. I met her again in the lobby of another race game, telling the owner how great the room was. One of the visits to my room was because someone summoned them when I lost my name, and they didn't seem too interested in either me, my name, or my room. Once was on the day VMK went gold when I saw Yavn. And finally, I ran into a mob on the 17th answering questions - my answer was shown on the screen 5 minutes later. So clearly, cast members either don't know me or don't have a good impression of me, so that can't be it.

Just as an aside, its only half a bajillion credits. {: Seriously, as you point out, 500 credits barely makes a dent in what most people have probably spent on the rooms. You don't do this for the money. Many people wouldn't even do it for the pin - since there is no magic associated with it. (I'm amazed at how many people have said the equivalent of "they didn't give you inferno? What does that pin do?")

Also consider the scope of the issue. They give out two awards a week, out of the many rooms that are out there. Even if you eliminate all the more questionable rooms, there may be a backlog of those that they want to honor with the award.

I have never been in any of these rooms, to the best of my knowledge, I'm sorry.

Perhaps you can post pictures of them, tell us a bit about each one, discuss why you made them or what you were thinking about each one or something along those lines for each?

I'm pretty sure I'm on your friends list - have you invited me to any of them when we've been on? (I do generally try to reply to well worded invitations.) Have you been in them much when you are?

This is really the meat of the question, I think. There are far more ways to be "recognized" than just by this award. Elsewhere (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4618), people have posted the question about how to get a popular room, or how to get a room popular, and there has been some discussion on it there.

The best guest award is one honor that recognizes this, sure, but if you're making rooms just to try and get the award, I think you're missing out on the rest of the fun.

Perhaps they read them, but have nothing to say? Would a message that simply says "yeah, me too!" really make you feel better? Nah, you want a nice long message that agrees with you! {: Proof that somebody actually read it and took the time to reply thoughtfully. Thats just as much work, if not more, than your originall message!

Good effort is never wasted if you get something out of it yourself. The reply is just validation of that.

But please don't reply to yourself. Sometimes people take a bit of time to reply to a thoughtfull question like this with an equally thoughtfull answer. Just like sometimes it takes time for people to discover great rooms.

I feel confident that people who work on their rooms, spend the effort to create a good story and tell it, and have the patience to wait, will be rewarded in some way. Good luck in your efforts!

You did not make me look bad but you sure made me feel bad, all I was trying to say is that if you put hard work in to your room you can win. I belive we all have an equal chance at winning this award and that when the day that I win comes that I hope that I win for something like my company wich I have easily spent 10,000 credits on.
