View Full Version : New Stuff? Old Bugs?
prisoner 10-15-2005, 01:43 PM Ok, I'm tired of all the threads that talk about how excited we are about the new space stuff, the new Herbie stuff, the new Haunted Mansion stuff, the new Haloween stuff, the new Tomorrowland stuff. Stuff stuff stuff.
Stuff and nonsense!
Why can't they get the old stuff working first?
Why whenever we corner a developer are the questions constantly about stuff and never about fixing bugs? There are still plenty of bugs in the game which range from seemingly small (score boards not working correctly, Hong Kong lamps turning grey) to seemingly large (black screens, disconnects, capacity problems), and yet these never seem to get attention except for brief moments.
Why am I so upset about this? I reported a bug three months ago (score boards not working), and it still has not been fixed, and I now have a game which is completely unplayable because of it. When Staff members ran into an old bug that would rearrange furniture, it got fixed quickly, but other bugs continue to linger.
So, will you join with me?
Will you ask VMK_Staff members about bugs that have gone unfixed for a long time? Will you ask Yavn and the other developers if you find them? Will you stop asking about new toys until our old toys work?
Thank you for your support.
PinkPokaDot 10-15-2005, 01:45 PM I will Priz! but what do i put it under when i contact them?
RikuBlade 10-15-2005, 02:36 PM Sounds like a good cause, i just think some people just don't have the patience to wait for things. They do not really care for bugs as much as they do for new items to come out. Maybe when they bugs affect them they might change their minds!
PinkPokaDot 10-15-2005, 02:39 PM yes so true! the fruniture bug was so annoying but some people did not even care.
mparent1963 10-15-2005, 02:44 PM If they never fix the old bugs than the new stuff will never work! So yes i agree, and i will help!
joeyespn 10-18-2005, 02:37 AM This is something I will be participating in Priz.
captain_dl 10-18-2005, 07:52 PM I agree with you 100% Priz! I too have issues with furniture while running my game too. I report it at least once a week through "Contact Us". I like the new things, but some of the basic bugs that have been around since beta have got to be fixed! I too find it funny that as soon as the bugs affected the VMK staff with a planned event, it was fixed. Even though fixing it seemed to break other things. I know the game is free and I am very grateful for it, but fix the bugs!
AceLollipop 10-18-2005, 08:56 PM Why can't they get the old stuff working first?
Because they know more people want new stuff in the game and they do it to keep people happy. :/
SweepHunter 10-18-2005, 11:14 PM I also want to have the bugs worked out. In the Skull Room on the wall to the right of the entrance is two glitches. One square bye the door hides posters and the other is where the poles meet. The poster does not mesh with the poles.
I too am tired of not being able to play games, getting booted constantly, and other problems. I am keeping my mouth shut because I have seen Disney crack down on pin traders who whined about being out in the cold rain with no lights, no handicapped tables, and mean spirited thieves. They got upset and started booting people from the park and took away the best employees from pin trading.
Mouth shut as I know how hard and fast disney kicks and my poppa told me to never get nearly kicked by a mule twice let alone kicked once.
Appleson 10-18-2005, 11:17 PM Of course they should have the bugs fixed! We all know that they're not a great quality of vmk and should be fixed before the release of new items before emore horrible things happen
blueotter 10-29-2005, 02:31 AM :CastMem: :pluto:Yeah i am sick of this too. I still have the furniture arrange bug!! I have it in only some of my rooms. I am happy that new stuff comes out but it would be nice if everything worked!!Does anyone even know if vmk staff is even aware of this site??I say nay. U mention it and they drop out of conversation. :mixed-smi :cat1:
Crazycop 10-30-2005, 05:41 PM I am sick and tired of these dumb bugs!! when i logged on today i had no friends on!! this is going to far!! i am getting mad!! if u agree with me post ur name on the thread.
awesomerey 10-30-2005, 05:57 PM awesomerey it's me i logged on four times and no friends :(

1. THAT IS STUPID. You are right, there are too many bugs in the game. I for one, can not even get my other account working right, it couldn't even get on VMK!!! HE was the one who made a friend that gave me FREE TELEPORT MAGIC!!! WHY CAN'T I USE HIM??? WHO CARES?!?!?!?!? Who would care when VMK would be careless enough to wreck peoples games, or credits? Also, I was playing 1 on 1 with another player in Haunted Mansion, she was
B-A-D. But in the second game, where I owned her too, I LOST CONNECTION!!! Blasted VMK needs more stations, instead of one station probably somewhere in New Zealand. I am an Ohioan dagnabbit. I have earned those credits, I was gonna get more cred to get me my 5 star snowman I wanted, but NOOO, VMK must be specifically MILES and MILES and thousands of MILES away. They have more important things to do than customer service. " Gee, I would help the giant worm on the Internet VMK Adaptian files that are crucial to the VMK game get eradicated, but these ppl need mustard for their hot dogs! THEY NEED IT BAD!! "
2. Yeah, I'm diggin' what you're goin' at.
Capn Droid 12-30-2005, 09:57 PM Crazycop, I don't think that's a bug that you're friends are sane and get off the computer, unlike me.
Capn Droid 12-30-2005, 09:58 PM Holy moley, I just realized this post was 2 months old b4 I posted on it!!
cooooooooooooool.
maxxkid 12-30-2005, 10:32 PM hmm.. you do realize it takes about two months for three bugs to get fixed. they have to go into the game's scripitingand find out, out of the thousands of thousands of pages, the one little line of some random script. Then they have to find out how to fix it, and even with their super-computer geeks, they find it quite hard.Thenthey have to update the game, which takes a long time.
Note: omg that was just the important stuff. and remember, not even computer geeks stay up late (unless they're in a good chatroom :)) so they have to do this around two hours a day. vmk closes, for people in VMK HQ, 8 o'clock, and then the computer geeks work on it til maybe eleven. so, in all:
scripting bug find: 10 hours-3 hours
finding out: 3-8 hours
update: 7-9 hours, but it is overnight.. most of the time.. :on2long8: remember a little while ago? when vmk was closed for enhancements? yeah..
Capn Droid 12-30-2005, 11:43 PM oh, BLAH BLAH BLAH double xx with the ma. So I may be impatient, THAT is why I am saying what I am!
prisoner 12-31-2005, 02:04 AM hmm.. you do realize it takes about two months for three bugs to get fixed.
Actually, I didn't realize that. There are certainly bugs that they have fixed in far less time. Is this an industry guideline, your personal track record, or specific to VMK?
they have to go into the game's scripitingand find out, out of the thousands of thousands of pages, the one little line of some random script.
Well, it shouldn't be "random". Computer program source code is usually very well organized for this exact reason. If it is not well organized, I would think far far worse of the development team.
More likely there are a couple of likely locations where the bug could be occuring. If even these are difficult to narrow down, there are tools that they have available to help them step through the code and diagnose where the problem might be.
The biggest issue, of course, is reproducing the problem. Even before they go into the code they need a way to force the code to show the problem in the first place.
Then they have to find out how to fix it, and even with their super-computer geeks, they find it quite hard.
I would estimate that about 90% of all bugs are relatively easy to fix after you find them. It is finding them that is the most difficult part.
Thenthey have to update the game, which takes a long time.
This should be the easy part. They actually have a period of downtime during which they can make updates, and they have done so very frequently.
Note: omg that was just the important stuff. and remember, not even computer geeks stay up late (unless they're in a good chatroom :))
Statistically, most "computer geeks" have been found to prefer staying up late.
so they have to do this around two hours a day. vmk closes, for people in VMK HQ, 8 o'clock, and then the computer geeks work on it til maybe eleven.
It is completely not relevant when VMK is open and closed. Unless VMK is doing something quite stupid, they are doing most of their routine development and initial testing on completely different servers than the ones we use.
CookieThief 12-31-2005, 05:03 AM Bugs! Bugs! Fix the darned bugs! Auuuugh! I support you, Priz! :banghead:
Capn Droid 12-31-2005, 04:46 PM The only so-called "good" bug was to clone yourself, and that caused, at very rare times, crashing. VERY RARE TIMES. AND THEY FIXED THAT THE FIRST SECOND THEY HEARD OF IT!!!
Dagnabbit VMK, blank boards aren't fun, rearranged furniture with a mind of it's own isn't fun ( sounds creepy ), but you take away the only little bit single fun bug there EVER WAS!!! You threw it away faster than a cheetah ice skating somewhere where they have frozen water in Africa ( which they probably don't. BAD METAPHOR )!!!
