I thought I'd update this list. Seems like a good Idea, no?

RULES:

Give your forum suggestion, and a reason why you think it would be good for these forums. Suggestions marked with X have been discarded by staff.

Pending Suggestions:

Welcome Room (Everyone who is new to the forum can get a hearty welcome!)
PG 13 Forum (Under Consideration)
Events forum
Free Sigs with X amount of posts. (X)

Free Signatures too everyone over 1000 posts. I personally dont like paying to get a signature. But on some other websites not naming them they have free signatures. So I think more people would join and post. There are a lot of ppl that have 100 posts and are never on but they have sigs.

I think Rants should be a section with:

Games
In Game Relationships
and
In Game players

Instead of one section, rants should be split up into three parts, listed above.

Just my opinion, so we don't have to ban boy and girl friend talk, just keep it in a section in rants, very easily done.

I suggest finding a way to make a PG 13 forum.

Knowing many like to lie on age make this is a secret group and also look for inmature posting.

The foprums have the current set up to help raise money, Signatures are not needed for a forum... the staff could disable it entirely if they wanted... but have it set up to pay for them. this way the forums can remain free for most people and off set the costs for the staff. if we gave free sigs to people with over 1,000 posts the forums might end up with loads of spam...

I suggest finding a way to make a PG 13 forum.

It is under consideration... Keep an eye out in the coming months for anything development.

I like the idea of paying for signatures also. They make this site a better place. Also I am glad to hear I can watch out for a PG 13 forum. This seems to be needed and I will be turning 13 soon.

I think paying for signatures, also for the 1,000 post thing is good. People would be spamming, but you could have a spam alert, where they would not be able to get a signature if they spam a lot.

Captain, that would just go with Off-Topic. This board is for one thing: VMK.

Similar to the Forums Guide that is stickied at the top - perhaps have another New to the Forums FAQ? It could include tips and reminders on avatars, signatures, posting pictures, reputaiton, and so on. I guess, really, just a well-organized compilation of all the great helpful threads that do already exist.

Keep it simple and clear and easy to scroll through. For those topics that have a lot more info to them, a simple link could be used instead to save space. Also, to continue of Poseidon's suggestion, this major FAQ thread could go into a Welcome section where it'll be easy to catch the eye of newcomers and even those that just forget things.

and P.S. I don't like the 1000 post/signature idea, because it will truly encourage spamming. I'm on this board a lot, but I rarely post and I see new people come in all the time and post pure junk, resulting in the same post count as mine within a few hours!

We need a spam forum. Any post (whether it's a thread or a single post) considered "spam" would go immediately/ASAP there. That way, people don't have to look at senseless spamming, and if they wanted to, they could just go to the spam forum and read it there. It could be set up so that no one can actually post in the spam forum itself. Also, any posts in the spam forum don't go toward post count. This is just a suggestion to help clean up forum clutter. :) It's kind of a silly idea, but I like it... :Embar:

I might add some more later...

Eww.. Whats there "PG 13" about VMK?

I would have to disagree with the get a sig with over a 1000 posts...Not only is this JUST a number...But this would also encourage people to post A LOT of spam that the mods would just have to end up cleaning up and they wouldn't count for your post count anyway....

I also agree with Figment...The sig is a privelage....We don't even have to have them! But I am glad we do!! Actually I guess I agree with Figment on the whole subject!

The idea of a "welcome I am new" thread has been briefly talked about in the recent past by mods and is still under consideration. Hope that helps.

how about a forum where you talk about toon town i mean doesn't toon forums have a forum on vmk ?

LittleBubbles

Well, some toontown haters would visit and put down TT. Happened on the VMK board there a lot x-x;

I would like a new way to get a sig, I can't keep asking my parents to pay for online stuff, and I can't get a job x-x; I do think it is good you guys keep it as a donation thing for the site though. I just wish I could have a sig xD Maybe if you have an account for a certain amount of time, and a certain post amounts (2 months, at least 150 posts or something) you could give free sigs. Or a raffle of some sort. I just want a free sig rofl xD

I think the welcome board is a great idea! When I was new I had no idea where to post myself being new, so I posted a piece of art I did (which surprisingly inspired others xD) and added that I was new. It would be nice for a place to introduce yourselves :)

I do not think a PG 13 forum is good. I have been to sites with forums like that, it is mainly off topic junk like 'who do u think is the cutest rock star' and stuff. And it has nothing to do with VMK--what could possibly be related to vmk that is PG 13? :P

I think a Rant forum is a great idea though--opinions about VMK and such. Sort of like General Discussion, but Rants will be only for rants alone. General Discussion is just basically random VMK shtuff :)

Great thread idea :D

1. It's possible.
2. Doesn't even make sense.
3. No need for a whole forum for it.
4. No, that doesn't even make any sense. (Again).

Speak Logically, those ideas mostly could just go in one thread.

That's exactly what I meant. ^_^ I don't think I worded it very well, but what I really meant to say was that any post on any forum would be sent immediately/ASAP to a spam forum. On this spam forum, you can't actually add new posts if you're not a moderator. Any posts that have been sent to the spam forum wouldn't go toward post count. I just thought that having a spam forum would clean up some of the forum clutter and people who don't want to read it won't have to. Sorry if I confused anyone. ^_^; Did this make a little more sense? Did it make less? I type weird when I'm tired, so I apologize if my post isn't coherent...

Unless of course you turn post counts off there.Post count doesn't matter in the slightest. I don't know why so many users get so worked up over it. Inflating your post count with spam is only going to get some users suspended.

There are already toontown forums.

I don't see why there is not section for new members yet. It's a no brainer that you should have one for your fourm, and how long does it take to create a new section?

This is just a suggestion about reputation for the mods. I noticed this on some other Disney board, because I didn't realize that the reputation system could be modified.

I think it could be cute if the different reputation point levels would say something other than the default when you hover over someone's dot. Just an example, this other board had things like:

"_____ has learned the bear neccesities"
"_____ is a member of Andy's room"
"______ has earned mouse ears"
"_____ is a diamond in the rough"

different phrases for the different levels of a reputation one can have.

A fun idea, I think, would be to incorporate a Disney theme, as well as a VMK motif into the reputation points.

Hmmm....This is just a suggestion I just came up with, but here goes:

I don't know if this is possible for you to do, but what about a little pop-up message telling that you have been put on someone's friend/ignore list? I got really fed up with someone on here (This person was being extremely rude, presumptuous, and downright mean without even knowing the full reason behind the post he/she was replying to.), so I put the person on my ignore list, but won't this person reply to my posts anyway not knowing that he/she is on that list? You could save yourself a lot of time if you get told that you are on someone's ignore list. Also, it would be a HUGE hint that you are doing something wrong and need to reform and change your ways. Another thing you could do is have a list under your User CP that tells who all has put you on their friends/ignore lists.

It's just an idea I had. *shrugs*

We need a Merged Threads Forum as I am so tired of people making new threads when there are already other similar threads.

There are now two "People do not read signature threads". I am not sure how many "Yavn" threads are out there. I want staff to start changing thread titles that say "OMG" or "Dude see this" so we do not have to stop to see that the poster is the 1938894th person to post on that subject. Right now I am digging through 15 pages of threads and half are the no friends list, my art work, Yavn, or whines on the same subjects other are whining about.

Can we get a how to do things thread. Show people how to post and everything. STUPID IDEA as nobody will read that either.

Mandatory forum posting class for people who habitually have bad posts.
I want a guided tour of the Kingon Home World for my great post, lol.:xmas5:

I disabled signatures and may soon do the same with avatars.

I like using lots of smileys for bullets and stuff but really do we need a 15 smilies in a row. "Me like..." is fine on a new item but some of the spam is so annoying.
