Not to put anyone down or anything but, there is no use for petitions now, we all have two days of vmk left, and do you all really want to waste those two days trying to save something that can't be saved? I don't. so make the best of these last two days of VMK, make these last two days on VMK enjoyable and unforgettable that you won't ever forget for the rest of your life

Dear WDIG,
Although you probably didn't realize it at first, but your experiment with a family-oriented "tween" MMO went way beyond what you were planning. Like "Johnny 5" from "Short Circuit," it took a life of its own. Enough of the Disney Magic touched the game to create a truly special hybrid MMO game - part social networking, part games and part learning.

It is clear that this game platform is not adequate to continue at the status quo--what MMO game is? Minimal cash in, extremely high cost to provide live moderators, limited scalability (chronic lag issues[!]) and relatively weak/vulnerable network connectivity are some pretty serious issues. But pulling the entire game and rather forcefully pushing players to your other games (which require subscription fees, some upwards of $100/year) was, in my humble opinion unwise and unnecessarily self-destruction. True, VMK was spiraling out of control, but it appears some good ways to keep the core supporters of VMK (and the Disney brand) were shelved to produce some very negative unintended consequence.

First, a brand backlash, to the point that [former] VMK players are now sharing opinions of the best non-Disney games out there to play. That's not mentioning the personal boycotts and limited boycotts of the Disney brand.

Second, the stage is set for competitions to produce their own MMOs and leapfrog WDIG gaming's advantage in this area. It will take considerable investment to regain the lead.

Third, there is the unresolved business in which the VMK staff through VMK official communications provided forward-looking information that were taken in good faith to be a commitment to fulfill. Game duration, future content and other "promises" were reneged upon. While management may actually be responsible for the failure to deliver, it truly appears to the players that the staff (who otherwise have been truly wonderful) "lied" to the players.

In conclusion, I urge the WDIG to put on the fast track a family oriented "tween" MMO with a similar theme. True, in 7 months time VMK will be virtually forgotten by the target demographic, but the current players will not. Just as the Mickey Mouse Club on television had a positive effect, VMK has had a wonderful positive effect. Please don't let cold dollars and cents reasoning replace the vision that your company has demonstrated. Dollars with sensibility would be a great motto.

Sincerely,
BestLester (VMK Character)
