View Full Version : Haunted Mansion Quest and VMK Tour moose 07-03-2005, 01:44 AM Took the free tour today and got the haunted mansion quest. Very nice, got lots of exclusive items for doing the tour. Chris 07-03-2005, 01:45 AM Sounds cool! Any chance you don't want the code for your Haunted Mansion room? :D MouseStreet 07-03-2005, 06:58 AM I took the 5:30 tour and only one other person took the tour, so I got pretty much everything. I felt kinda bad, though. When I saw I got the Haunted Mansion room I was like OOOOOOOOOH SWEET!!! It's so cool... And you get to skip the lines on Jungle Cruise, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, The Haunted Mansion and Disneyland Railroad without lines! Heartsdown 07-03-2005, 08:34 AM That is Cool mousestreet i think there was only 3 cards i did not get from tour i am still missing 8 out of series 1 though GreatGatsby 07-04-2005, 04:03 AM You are extremely fortunate. We were on the 5:00 tour, and before we left, Dean and our guide were discussing whether to cancel the one you went on because of the small number who signed up. Dean finally decided to proceed if anyone showed (as three of ours never showed up), and off we we went on ours. You almost got booted! beachhalo86 07-04-2005, 04:29 AM do you have to complete all three quests at the same time (aka same day.. whatever) or can it be accumilative? like if i had done two of the 3 quests when it first came out... then do the third quest now... will it count? someone PM me with the answer since i will be afc for the next few days... gracias!! moose 07-04-2005, 01:23 PM We completed the quests on 2 different days. They track what you have completed by scanning your park admission pass. Once you complete all 3, you get the VMK tour card to swhow at city hall to schedule your tour. We got a lot of cards on our tour. We also asked at each location where you can buy things to get a card if we could have a card and they gladly gave it to us. I just need to get the card from the Magic Shop in Disneyland to complete the 6 of 6 series. I think we're missing 8 of the series of 30. Miss MeowsALot 07-04-2005, 01:32 PM I think you have to turn them all in at the same time for the tour, but I could be wrong. They DO let you keep your completed cards . . . so maybe you can just come back with all three at any time. I kinda cheeped I had another person with me at Disney and they played VMK to. We did the quest for me and got 1 wrong then the Cast Member told us that my other person can do it and so you can get them all right :p. So thats what we did. The Tour For WDW we didn't go on Big Thunder Mountain (Maybe becuase it was raining.) And I am happy we did. I am not a Roller Coaster person. We got alot of cards on the tour and I want to do it again. :) Tinklover 07-04-2005, 02:30 PM Do they have a tour at Walt Disney World or just Disneyland please tell me CarribbeanLady 07-04-2005, 02:37 PM They have it in both parks. That is MK in Disney Land and MK in Disney World.I am going to MK in WDW.ONE MORE MONTH!Anyway I think we are going to MK 2 times. So one day I can do the quests and the other I can go on the tour. The hard one is when was Frontireland made?Or something like that.I better check the pictures out before I go. Darkbeer 07-04-2005, 08:01 PM Here are some photos from the DL version of the VMK guided tour... http://darkbeer.smugmug.com/gallery/635375 GreatGatsby 07-04-2005, 11:30 PM They have it in both parks. That is MK in Disney Land and MK in Disney World.I am going to MK in WDW. For your future reference: 1) Disneyland is one word. 2) That particular park at DLR is not commonly known as the Magic Kingdom (MK) -- that's really only at Walt Disney World. In Anaheim, it is simply called Disneyland. GreatGatsby 07-05-2005, 03:40 AM Do they have a tour at Walt Disney World or just Disneyland please tell me They have them at both parks, but they are slightly different quests. WDW has more questions, so us DLR ppl get off easy! CecilyCecliy 07-15-2005, 01:30 AM Took the free tour today and got the haunted mansion quest. Very nice, got lots of exclusive items for doing the tour.Moose how did you get it? :wave2: :) greenhpper 07-15-2005, 01:41 AM Also DLR has a longer tour with more backdoor rides. The WDW tour only took us on three rides not five. Oh well, better than nothing and it was still fun! Cecily please read the full thread to find out how to get the Haunted Mansion quest. Thanks! Azure 07-22-2005, 07:47 PM Wow oh wow!! My grandma is going to do the quests for me!! Thanks to you guys for posting the answers she has no clue what to do and if I give her some info from this site then she will be fine!! Can't wait until she gets back so I can collect my gifts and virtual prizes~!! Hey heartsdown!! I didn't know that you were on this site!! Please help me tell some stuff to my grandma about this quests!! Thanks!! :peterpan: :CastMem: :CastMem: :CastMem: Joviqueza 07-22-2005, 07:55 PM I had four people in my party and the nice cast member working at the VMK booth just used my quest cards to give all of us each a set of prize cards. I also helped the others in my party get all of the Haunted Mansion answers right so we each got all seven of those prizes as well! It was so much fun. So if you go, be sure to ask if they can scan your set of cards for everyone in your party! coolbuffalo 07-22-2005, 08:17 PM do u want trade for it coolbuffalo 07-22-2005, 09:34 PM tell me what u got to offer i got inferno to trade if it is good enough SpinMarty 07-22-2005, 10:26 PM In order to take to VIP tour now you have to complete all four quests (Fantasyland, Frontierland, Adventureland and now Tomorrowland) Jones 07-23-2005, 04:14 AM I'm going to Disneyland in August for three days so i'll try to get the quests right. the Disneyhollic 07-23-2005, 06:43 PM Tomarrowland is the only quest that is hard to do. Mail me and I can give you the answers to the other Disneyland quests. figmentisback 07-24-2005, 08:02 AM I lucked out then.. cause the day i went TL was just activated.. lol... (7/15... SM opened.. TL quest activated right??) I guess i better memorize the answers to WDWs soon... or else their will be another quest added... LOL (I remember.. JC.. BTM... & Hm.. then back door on train to get back to VMK central/innoventions to inter our codes or sign up... what does WDW not do??) KennedyJane 07-24-2005, 08:45 AM My husband and I were in DL for the 50th anniversary, it was a blast. While there we were able to finish the vmk quests. Adventure Land, Fantasy Land, Tommarrow Land and Frontier Land. We also went on the vmk tour. It was really interesting. As a bonus you can do the Haunted Mansion quest. When Frontier Land opens there will be a Haunted Mansion game where you catch ghosts. I'm jazzed. Before we started the quests I was worried I would get an answer wrong. Luckly they let you change your anwsers if you get them wrong. Phew... A few I had to go back and redue. Some of the questions you must read slower. I was so excited that I misunderstood some of the questions. They mentioned that it's been happening alot. Oh well I got all my cards anyway. Also don't forget to make a avatar in the park too. You can do this in inoventions. You get MM ears and a born in park button. For all that fun you also get four guest rooms instead of one. Neat huh. Have fun vmk'n Oh ya, and if you buy a hat, shirt, candy, magic trick or a pin you can get vmk cards. On the back of the cards are codes for the game. All they cards you get on the quests and from the stores are one time use. As well as the braclets you get for finishing all the inpark quests. Have fun in VMK Villainess 07-27-2005, 05:53 PM Took the free tour today and got the haunted mansion quest. Very nice, got lots of exclusive items for doing the tour. We took the tour last weekend and had a blast! I was only bummed about one thing. Since I'm pretty familiar with the game, I knew the answers to a lot of the basic questions the guide was asking. Mind you, these were just general questions about the game and the park itself (no prizes were handed out at this time). But when it came time to actually give away some of the goodies like the Explorer's Tent, the tour guide wouldn't call on me! I understand he's trying to be fair to everyone, but this was the first round of prizes and I should have been given a chance to win just like everyone else who was listening closely. He saw my hand up, we made eye contact and he selected the other people sitting around me. Arg. Even the other tour members noticed and made comments about it afterwards. Oh well. I still enjoyed myself and loved learning more about VMK. I did also win the HM room (everyone has an equal chance of winning this prize). I guess I will just have to take the tour again and not be so eager to answer the questions! alice 07-27-2005, 08:16 PM I took the VMK Tour at Disneyland yesterday. Hot day, and crowded of course, but still fun. (Nice set-up with the headphone pack; this worked really well.) Only one person in the group (all adults except for two children) had never played the game before, which made a lot of the info redundant, but it was exciting to see the preview artwork for Frontierland. For some reason we all started saying "Yay!" in response to our tour guide Susie's comments as we followed her around. It had been planned for us to go on four rides (apparently it's not five anymore?) but because of a delay at the Railroad Station in New Orleans Square, we ended up walking back to VMK instead of taking the train. I didn't go on Thunder Mountain since it doesn't agree with me, so that made a grand total of two. But how cool to be back-doored onto Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion! We kept saying "Yay!" in response to the opening dialog in the Haunted Mansion waiting room, which was pretty funny. And with all the times I have been on Haunted Mansion, I saw something that is either new, or I just never noticed it before. In the Great Hall (ballroom) is our famous coffin teleporter, with ghosts coming out of it! It looks EXACTLY like the one in the game. I just about jumped out of my Doom Buggy. Before I went on the tour, I had bought some candy at the store in Critter Country so I could get the Penny Press card. So what do you think was the random free card that was handed out to everybody? You guessed it; the Penny Press! Oh, well; you can never have too many of those, right? Being a small group, I thought we all might end up with a lot of cards, but Susie was not as lenient as some of the other guides that have been mentioned. Only one person got the Explorer's Lifestyle Collection. Still, I am fortunate to have stammered out an answer to one of the Jungle Cruise questions, because I did get the Explorer's Tent, and I don't think everyone got that. Only one person got the train teleporters; although Susie waited for additional answers to her Thunder Mountain question, no one answered, and she didn't ask a new question. The Haunted Mansion Quest was handled in a much more "everybody help each other" manner. (Although Susie did say that if you marked it wrong, too bad!) The questions were simple if you are familiar with the ride. (But the one about the rocking chair is pretty subjective, if you ask me.) As far as I know, everyone received their Haunted Mansion Quest card pack. (The Conservatory, the whole Leota set, etc,...woo hoo!) Back at VMK, we received our prize cards, including the Golden Show Designer Collection and the Invisibility pin, which were handed out to everyone on the tour. Then we logged on, and some of us met each other at the Castle Forecourt and "friend-listed" each other. All in all, a great time. Thanks, VMK! :) - Alice smilezlie 07-29-2005, 06:34 AM i TRIED to go on the VIP tour today but ended up putting in a guest complaint against our "potential" tour guide. ya it was that bad. My friends and i had been told on tuesday night that all we had to do was show up 30 mins to an hr early and we would get a spot. she said they didnt take reservations or anything! we had been told the same thing by a guy the week before. i knew it didnt sound right but i figured 2 people couldnt be wrong! well the girl working there at the time told us the tour was full but she said if people didnt show up she would make a special acception for my 2 friends and i seeing as we had been told the wrong info TWICE and my friend was going out of the country for a month and a half! she said if we waited and 3 spots opened up she would let us have them. we waited the 45 mins, she got moved to inside innoventions but had given us the tour cards with a party size of 1 written on it but no time or date. well as of 5:10pm at LEAST 5 people had not shown up! we tried to explain to the tour guide what happened and what the VMK girl had said and we were shot down, TWICE! and it wasnt even an "im sorry i cant" it was a flat out "NO". so afterwards we talked to the VMK girl and she appologized and ended up giving us the jungle cruise tent room because she felt really bad....... and then we went to put in a WRITTEN guest complaint against the VMK tourguide. normally i would feel bad but eh, not so much. i work in the park myself and if i EVER treated a guest like she treated us i would have management breathing down my neck like there was no tomorrow! oh well, at least i got the tent room....... Heartsdown 07-29-2005, 09:15 AM The tours usual fill up between 11am and 12pm so do it before then Roxane 07-29-2005, 10:18 AM If you are there for more than one day you can book the tour for other days. We booked the tour for the next day after we did the quests at WDW. RoxaneFF Dylan 07-29-2005, 11:27 AM Ya i was aiming for the 12:30 one but it was full so we had to do 4:30 one ahecht 08-01-2005, 07:04 AM I had an interesting experience today. I got my VIP Tour card on the 17th, but the tours were all full and they were actually out of cards. I went back on the 24th and got the card, but all the tours were gone when I showed up at 10am. Finally today, I showed up at 8am and got the first spot in the 2:00 tour. When 2:00 rolled around, they told us that due to a shortage of tour guides, all tours had been cancelled. To make up for it, they gave everyone the COMPLETE set of all possible tour cards, plus a new VIP tour card, plus an exit pass for our choice of Jungle Cruise or Big Thunder. So, basically, I got cards 2, 4, 5, 6, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, 28, and 30 and the penny press (6 or 6). At this point, this means I am only missing cards 1, 10, and 29. BabyThePirate 08-01-2005, 07:43 AM Just to clarify for everyone; reservations are required, but you can only make them once you are in the park, and only for that day. Keep in mind that this is summer and the parks are extremely crowded. it makes sense to reserve a spot as soon as you come in. There's no way of predicting how many VMK fans will show up for this on any given day! Unless this has changed in the past couple weeks. In Magic Kingdom the tour does not need to be made for that day. We could have picked other tours for that same week. :piratesk: tpmartin 08-07-2005, 05:13 PM If you are there for more than one day you can book the tour for other days. We booked the tour for the next day after we did the quests at WDW. RoxaneFF Hey Roxane, We are going down to WDW on the 20th. to 28th and was wondering about the tour. I have a couple of questions for you. 1) Can we get our quest cards as soon as they let us in or do we have to wait until 9 am. 2) When we finish the quest can I book the tour for later in the week? Thanks Tom Califgirl 08-07-2005, 05:22 PM I had an interesting experience today. I got my VIP Tour card on the 17th, but the tours were all full and they were actually out of cards. Congratulations, That is spectacular. The tour is very fun, and I 'm sorry you missed it, but, wow, what a lot of loot! Roxane 08-07-2005, 06:44 PM Yes, you can get the quest cards when the doors open :) They are on the backs of the game machines. We were there yesterday at 9 and they weren't actually set up yet. I had the hidden mickey coupon I wanted to redeem for the tour card. I had to come back at 10, but the quests were out. Don't forget to bring your own Tomorrowland quests. They don't have them there. Yes, you can also book later in the week for the tour. The first time we did it, that's what we did. In fact, we were the last 2 on the tour yesterday because it had been mostly filled during the week. I think booking in advance is better :) We just drove over for the day and got lucky to get the tour.
