Would You pay To Play VMK? I would tell me what you think.

I would have to say no. I didn't pay for any items (movie rewards) on vmk. I won't start paying to play a game that was free for 3 years.

This is a tough one. If they let you keep your existing characters and items I might consider it. If you had to start from scratch I'd write it off as a loss and no way would I give them any money for it.

I would do anything to continue VMK

As much as I love VMK, I say no. I don't think VMK should be a "Pay to play" game, simply because it's always been free.

1) If they decided to not close, all those who have already quit would be incredibly mad.
2) I personally don't want to pay for something that has always been free.
3) That would greatly cut down on the number of people playing VMK. I don't know about you, but I feel it wouldn't be the same VMK we know and love with the long queues, extreme lag, and begging guests.

There are only two sites that I find worth putting any real money towards; One of them I've been playing for nearly 7 years, and one of them i've been staff of for nearly 5 years. And even then, it took a whole lot of time before I decided to start throwing any cash at them.

i wold pay up to 15 dollars a month to keep it open i love vmk and if it was pay to play i bet there would not be as many babys or taken not taken ppl

Most certainly. I think that the thing to do though would be what other sites are doing (Club Penguin, Toontown, Flickr, ect.) There should be a free version of VMK, and an all-access version with a yearly fee.

As long as I could keep my stuff currently and as long as it wasn't expensive and had to be paid by credit card(I hate when sites do that-I can't use my mom's).
Also, before the announcement that VMK was closing, I would have been more split, but I say 100% yes if that would mean VMK staying.

Really depends on how they would do it and how much it would cost. I think it should be like other online games where you can play for free but limit where you can go, what you can do and what you can buy. Then if you want unlimited access you could pay a resonable amount.

If we were allowed to keep our log-on info and all our stuff (magic pins, regular pins, rooms, clothes, furniture and credits), I would gladly pay a yearly subscription fee for my VMK account. :mickey:

I love VMK so much, but I would not ever pay to play it. It would lose a great number of VMK players probably, and it used to be free so why switch it to pay to play? I'll miss all of my friends, sorry.

Only if they overhauled the management and actually employed some people who knew how to properly represent Disney.

this question is better suited for the parents of players who are kids. seeing as how kids can't purchase items online, it falls to the parents to pay over the internet. i voted no personally. don't necessarily have the money to spend on the game and if i did, there are more important life purchases to be made.

IF I were to pay (and that's a big IF) I would expect some serious changes to occur and as Alice stated it would bepend if I get to keep all my stuff or have to start over again. I might consider starting over again IF I was assured that lag issues were resolved, better games, a rehaul of Jungle cruise, less crashing, better servers, etc. Otherwise I would enjoy watching my money burn more that paying for VMK as it stands ;)

I have to agree I have a ton of rare items I have collected from this year's holidays alone and thats one of the things I hate the most about VMK closing so if I could keep my current character and my items yes I would have to say I would consider paying for it. But not if they wanted start you completely from scratch though.

I was one who spent money for movie rewards and pins to get codes, and if it meant keeping my ears, I would have tried to support the kingdom. Virtual bricks would keep money flowing in and we would all have a virtually good time!

As much as i love the game, i wouldnt. I mean, spending all that time on it, and paying for it is just giving disney what they want. then who knows... it could close down again in the near future @_@... vmk was fun to play, yes, but i wouldnt pay for Any online game o_o

Y'know, I really don't know right now... I suppose I might, but only if 1) my mom would pay for it, or 2) I was absolutely sure that I wouldn't want to buy anything with whatever money I get for a year or so (which is basically impossible, since I could never be sure of that).

I don't think VMK, if it ever comes back, would be pay to play, anyway. But that's just my opinion.

Well ill say no but that will make me so sad cuz i really like vmk and last summer ispent everyday like 7 hours on vmk ( the days i didn't go anywhere ) and i also met lots of great ppl :'(

Unlike other disney games, VMK is actually worth the time and money. It's fun and very addicting. Club penguin and Pirates Online, I wouldn't pay for.

I have a question. A lot of people are saying: "No, VMK is boring, or "No, VMK is a waste." My question is, if you think VMK is boring and a waste, why are you on the VMK Fan Forums?

In my opinion, I wouldn't want to play if I had to pay for it. Why? Because:

- We would lose a good portion of the VMK community, and as much as I would miss all the guests running around asking for free things, it just wouldn't be the same.
- I feel that all our efforts to get VMK back would be in vain if they're making us pay to play it. If the real reason it closed was because of monetary issues, that means they're only opening it up again to make a profit, not because they care about what we wanted.
- What if something happened like your friend couldn't pay for the next month (for whatever reason). Then you probably wouldn't see them again, or at least not for a while.

So overall, I just think the general "atmosphere" of VMK would be way different than before we started. IMHO, making something "Pay to Play" is basically like saying "You 40% of the community aren't allowed to play because you won't give us money". And by that point I'd just feel bad for all the people who worked so hard to get VMK back, but wouldn't be able to play after all that.

You have some good points Zimonada. VMK's atmosphere wouldn't be the same if it became pay to play. I would still pay though...

I would say- yes. I was really clinged to this game and they took it away. Now I Lost basically all of my friends.

Do it like Maplestory. Pay for special items that can be bought in the cash shop. (Although the community that plays VMK is much different than those who play Maplestory. More people would complain about VMK "Relying more on Cash shop people!"

Although they didn't complain about people who had quest items, so I guess it might be ok. ^_^.

I wouldn't. it's just plain stupid to have payments for a game. it's like this. " oh this is such a cool game!!!" you play it for a few months, then a bill comes and it says, you need to pay to continue the game. just pay once is ok, but not continusly! it's just stupid!!!
