The Characters
Merle Summers(13): The main character. She longs to have friends and people usually pick on her. She had dark brown hair with and tanned skin.

Courtney Tanner(13): The stuck up popular girl and the headcheerleader. She had golden blonde hair and lightly tanned skin. She is very trendy.
Franchesca DaSilver(13): Courtney's BFF and also popular. She is the co-captain of the cheerleading team and also is trendy. She has tan skin, and brown curly hair.
Stella Jones(13): She is a girly girl but not that popular. She is just right and hangs out with a group of other girlies. She has dark skin, straight long black hair and beautiful brown eyes. She is nice and helpful.
Jason Williams(13): Aka "Mr.Hottie". He has streaked blonde hair and is the captain of the football team.
Gia Marlington(10): Science whiz/geek who skipped from the 5th Grade to the 8th. She has frizzy brown hair and dorky glasses.
Mary-Ann Graham(13): Gia's BFF. She is really nice and sweet and she was adopted. Mary-Ann has LONG black hair and she enjoys swimming with Gia.
Mariah Fitzgerald(13): Her BFF is Stella. They love talking gossip and always together. Mariah has dark red hair and green eyes.
Olivia Benson(12): She skipped a grade also and is usually quiet. She loves wearing bright colors. She has lightly dark skin and light brown eyes.
Jessica Montgomery(13): A famous model who decided to go to public school. She is making friends with the popular girls -- Franchesca and Courtney.
Chris McDonald (13): Class clown and mean.

Chapter 1
Merle Summers woke up. She jumped out of her flower bed and took a shower.
She got dressed in a white shirt and pink skirt with leggings.
She walked down the stairs and went to the kitchen. A plate of pancakes were waiting for her.
"Hi Mommy and Daddy." She greeted, picking up her fork.
"Hello honey," Her mother said, giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Try to make some friends today. Its your first day of eighth grade!"
Merle knew this year was going to be like the rest. People picking on her constantly. Especially the girls. Her mother said that they were just jealous.
Yeah right.. why would they be jealous of ME? Merle thought, finishing her pancakes.
She got her stuff together and walked to the bus. She had no one to sit with since she had no friends.
As she was walking on the bus, in the aisle, Chris McDonald tripped her and she fell.
"Loser!" He yelled in her face, his friends snickered.
She ran to the back of the bus, blinking to keep her from crying.
She sat down in a random seat. The bus pulled to another stop in front of an attractive mansion.
They are so lucky to live there.. Merle thought, thinking of her normal two story house.
Two glamorous girls got on the bus. They were wearing trendy clothes and had glowing hair. It was Courtney Tanner and Franchesca DaSilver.
Merle envied them. They were rich and popular! Everyone liked them.
They strutted by Merle and they sat with the "popular crowd".
Jason aka Mr.Hottie was with them. He was Franchesca's boyfriend and the most popular guy in school.
Merle thought he was very handsome, but not dateable.
More people piled in on the bus and the bus trailed to the school, T. Kaylin Middle School.

Chapter 2
Merle walked into school by herself. She had no one to walk with, no buddy or pal.
She walked glumly to her plain locker, got her books and walked to class.
As she walked to class, she saw Jessica Montgomery. She was famous, pretty and new.
"Can I have your autograph?" Gia Marlington asked, showing the autograph book.
"Yes you can." Jessica responded, scribbling her signature on the paper.
After the commotion, all the kids went to class.
"Children, please take out your textbooks and turn to page 361." The teacher said, writing the page number on the smartboard.
As the kids were doing this, an unusal announcement came up.
"Code 921, Code 921." The voice boomed through the speaker.
The teacher looked worried, she rushed to the lights and turned them off.
"Kids, we have an intruder in the building!" The teacher whispered. She ordered the kids to hide in a corner and she shut the blinds and locked the door.
Merle huddled with the kids into the corner.
5 minutes later...
The silence was broken by a large bang on the door! A man with a mask broke the door down and stepped into the classroom. He creeped around the classroom and Mary-Ann begun sobbing. The man turned his head swiftly and looked at her and the huddled group...

Chapter 3
The man came toward the sobbing crowd and took out a weapon.
Merle screamed.
This weirdo is gonna hurt us! She thought, her heart pounding against her chest.
As quick as a blink of an eye, the police ran inside the classroom. The man thought fast and ran for the door, while he was running he caught Merle and Jason and took them with him!
The man hopped into his car and stuffed them in the trunk!
30 Minutes Later...
The man opened the trunk and threw the kids out.
"Stay here!" He growled and walked away to the front of his car.
Of course, they didn't listen. Jason took Merle's hand and they made an escape.
"We better hide, or that freak will come after us." Jason said seriously, looking at her directly.
Merle patted her pocket and realized she had her cell phone! She took it out and dialed 911.
"Some weird man is after us and he has a weapon! We escaped, but he might find us." She talked into the phone and gave the address on where they were.
"We will be right there miss!" The lady said. Merle hanged up then and smiled at Jason. They were going to be alright!
He smiled back at her and soon, the cops arrived and they already got the wacko man in the policecar. Merle was relieved and so was Jason. Newspeople came and asked them questions, they answered all of them. Soon they were taken back to school. Everyone crowded around Jason and he took all the credit.
What about me?! I was with him! Merle thought angerily. Why should he get the credit? I was the one who called the cops!
Merle just walked to lunch. She was invisible and always would be! She ordered cheese fries and a pickle and sat at a table. She was alone of course.
Out of the blue, a piece of pizza hit her in the face!
"FOOD FIGHT!!" A kid screamed.

Chapter 4
A big mess of various foods splashed on Merle. She ducked under her table and looked at everyone.
The popular girls, Franchesca, Courtney, and Jessica were all screaming and yelling 'I don't want to break a nail and protect me!'
Merle rolled her eyes and made her way out of the crazy cafetaria.
But as she was heading to the door, the principal stopped her.
"EVERYBODY SETTLE DOWN!" He screamed at the kids.
Everyone dropped their food and looked at him.
"WHO STARTED THIS?!?!" He yelled, his face red.
Silence.
"I SAID WHO STARTED THIS!!!"
The kids looked around then grinned. They began whispering and then pointed at Merle.
"No way! I didn't do this!!" She told him, fresh tears coming down her cheek.
The principal took her hand and rushed her to the principal office.
"Young lady, why would you start this food fight?" He asked her sternly.
She looked at him directly. "I told you I didn't do this." She answered through clenched teeth.
He looked at her closely and told her to get out of his office. Merle trailed down the hallways and went to the lost and found bin to change into new clothes.
She looked at the clothes.
The only thing left was bright yellow banana shoes, a shirt that had a rainbow smiling duck on it, striped shorts, and a Dora the Explorer underwear.
Merle was blind from looking at the hidious clothes that didn't even match! She had to wear them, no choice!
She slowly picked up the clothes then went into the bathroom. When she got out of her stall she saw Mariah Fitzgerald applying make up. She was known as the gossiper. Stella Jones and Mary-Ann Graham was also in there but wasn't paying attention.
Merle wished she was invisible. But Mariah laughed at her and asked her something.
"You know thats not in style, right?" She asked sweetly, giving her a smirk and placing her manicured fingers on her hips.
Merle didn't answer. She just ran away and went to the next class which was computers.
Everyone in the hallways looked at her and laughed at her miss-matched outfit. She finally made it to her class and sat down in the back. Everyone was still staring at her. She was getting angry.
"WHAT?!?" She yelled at the staring people. "YOU GOT STARING PROBLEMS?!"
They stopped staring and laughed. But then the teacher came in and began writing something on the dry erase board.
Freetime! Good! Merle thought, smiling.
Merle turned on the computer and the flatscreen monitor. She quickly went on her favorite site, Virtual Magic Kingdom, aka VMK. But then she looked at the newsletter and saw the announcement.
'VMK CLOSES FOR GOOD!'
Her jaw dropped.

Merle screamed out loud.
The teacher looked at her weirdly and told her to go to the principles office.
She walked to the principles office and sat down in a chair.
No! I can't believe VMK is closing forever! She started crying and the people that walked passed the door looked at her strangely.
The principle soon came and asked her what was wrong.
She didn't reply.
The principal felt her head and noticed she was warm.
"You might have a fever, Im going to send you home." He said, picking up the telephone and dialing the number.
Merle was happy she was going home, finally getting away from all these kids here.
Soon her Grandma arrived since her Mother wasn't feeling good either and she hopped in.
"Honey, I have something to tell you.." Her Grandma said, tears began swelling up in her eyes.
Merle looked at her Grandmother.
Why is she crying? Merle thought.
"What is it?" Merle asked, concerned.
"Your - your Mother has a flesh eating disease and is in the hospital." Her Grandmother told her, bursting into tears.
Merle gasped, her Mother might be gone!
"WHAT? IS SHE GOING TO BE OKAY?!?" Merle yelled desperately.
Her Grandmother looked away.
"Im not sure Honey." She told her, wiping her tears with a Kleenex™ tissue.
Merle felt like she couldn't breathe. Her mother might pass away.
