On my Dell Laptop I have been having problems with VMK. It loads and all, and I go on for no longer than 15-20 minutes and something comes up saying could not process lalala. I am really not positive about what it says but then it stops. And I have to close the VMK screen and log back on.

It has been happening for a year now, any help?

Thanks,

I am going to bump this because I am still having problems.

This is what it said:

Out of memory loading member 16 of PLAYER-CAST 39, even after purging all purge able castmembers.

Please help if you know what this means, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Ah, I know what that is.. it just means your poor computer has run out of memory. You will have to buy more memory. I could only play vmk for 1 hour (or one mansion game) before having to reboot and I discovered I was on 256mb. I doubled it to 512mb at first which made a big difference at that time. Try and buy as much memory as you can afford :)

EDIT: I searched the forums and found this about virtual memory.. might want to have a go at that before buying ;)

Goofyluke... It is a shockwave error. I get i on my laptop all the time. I have figured out a few helpful hints that may help you . 1. try to avoid over clicking at all cost! If you continually click ( like let's say you are waiting for host game to come up) only click once and wait for it to respond if you need to click back and forth .. do it very slowly. You get this error bc laptops typically do not have a lot of Virtual memory. 2. while in VMK shut dow everything else.. Messenger other windows other games etc.. These suggestions will help you to not get the errror as often but you will still get it.
If you have another computer to play on , try it .

Very Important to note... It is your Virtual Memory that is the problem, running out to buy more memory is not going to help.

Uh.. go to dell . com and run a system diagnostic check, that should help find the problem.

Also, sheck your VPF (Virtual paging file), the place VMK goes for memory

Check your ram size and hard drive speed, increase all to max.

Clear Cashe and cookies.

Good luck if that no work

Jezzi is exactly correct. A couple of other things you might be able to do which might help:

don't run other programs at the same time.
don't visit any other websites with that browser before you go to VMK
since this is a laptop, it may be using a lot of memory for video. You might be able to change your BIOS settings to use less memory for video and more for programs.

Follow these instructions

1. Go to Tools in your Internet Brower
2. Go to Internet Options
3. Go to Settings located under the General Tab
4. It should open into a new window, a screen that looks like the one below... :

5. You need to increase the Disk space to use. The higher you raise it, the longer you will go without this problem. I raised mine up all the way and it seems to not give me any problems.

I hope this helps :)

also try cleaning out your cookies too, you can do this by right clicking on your internet browser icon select properties and where it says delete internet cookies click yes. Also clean out your web history too along with deleting anything offline. When I had windows xp, I did the following steps and it helped it run a little smoother. Now I have Window's Vista, just learning how it operates right now, and I don't seem to have any problems with it. Also I heard that uninstalling your current version of Shockwave and then going to the Shockwave site to install the current version also helps.

Well it didn't work. I have tried everything above and it won't work. Looks like I'm going to have to stick with my mom's computer, (it's nice but I just love laptops)for VMK..
