Mag Rips Miley Cyrus, Dad For Not Buckling Up
Feb. 12, 2008, 9:06 AM EST
The Associated Press

Buckle up, Hannah Montana!

In a blog item posted Monday, Consumer Reports magazine says 15-year-old superstar Miley Cyrus, who plays Hannah Montana on television, is seen in her new movie riding without a seat belt in the back seat of a Range Rover.

So is her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, the Yonkers-based magazine says.

The movie is the 3-D Disney concert film "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert," which is based on Miley Cyrus' TV show and has made more than $50 million in less than two weeks.

Telephone calls and e-mails to Disney and to several of Miley Cyrus' representatives, seeking comment, were not immediately returned Monday.

The magazine says 65 percent of the 13- to 15-year-olds killed in auto accidents in 2006 were not wearing seat belts.

"It seems to us that Miley, her father and Disney had a perfect opportunity to help influence teens and counteract — rather than encourage — this trend," the blog item says.

I dislike miley as much as the next person but seriously, its kind of weird how people find how to pick at miley for every little thing, although she broke the law. Then again it taught her a lesson, to keep her seat belt on. What are your opinions on this?

thats dumb. they will try to find anything just to get the leading story and make money

I don't think they're really picking her. They have a right to nag them to wear their seat belts. It's basically like saying, "Oh, well this superstar my age and her dad aren't wearing their seat belts, so why should I?"
See how this affects all those people?

Well, it really isn't a little thing, she broke the law. Besides, she is Disney and Disney wants to put good influences on her.

I actually noticed that in the movie.

no offense but whoever wants to get money off of must need the money. I mean come on. Since she was going to a permere i see why she wouldnt wear one but i think she wears one reguarlly btw she is used to being on a tour bus. Uh there is no seat belts on buses

snowegoof
02-13-2008, 12:41 AM
Still, she is setting an example. If you are on Miley's side and you don't wear a seatbelt, chances of you dying soar when you aren't wearing a seatbelt.

LOL. I thnk everyone should wear a seatbelt EVEN if you have millions of dollars. She is setting a bad example for the younger kids that like her lots.

I think breaking the law, is breaking the law.. but, seriously, people are too obsessed with catching "stars" doing something bad.

Well, I must say that the chances of you getting into a car crash and getting greatly injured were increased by 100% because the tour bus you boarded (if you indeed boarded it...) didn't include seat belts.

Haha. I like how you put "stars" in quotation marks. But honestly, how boring would society be if there wasn't a scandal thrown in now and then?

Where I live, it's not against the law to not have a seatbelt on in the back seat, however it's safe. First of all, little kids wouldn't have even noticed that if they wouldn't go spreading the word about it, good job. Secondly, a seatbelt for crying out loud? I'm sure she's not the only star. They can't bust her for anything else but a seatbelt! It's crazy! :vshocked::vrolleyes::vlaugh:

I doubt any of the younger fans noticed.

Wow can they think of anything stupider? I guess they have to pick at something..

Probably none of the kids would even notice that.

I actually noticed that in the movie.

For all of you who said her younger fans wouldn't notice this is one out of ten people who noticed, multiply that by how many people saw it. That is a pretty big number. Then again she is just a kid sometimes you have to cut them some slack, then again she broke the law.

Aah, w/e. There are 23740634 other kids out there who dont wear seatbelts. Sure, she's a role model, but nobody actually notices that in the movie haha.

It's not like she was not wearing a seatbelt and smoking at the same time.. cut her some slack!!!

Who notices something that small? This is pretty silly. I neither like Miley, nor hate her. Even though I am tired of all the publicity, I have nothing against her. People need to stop looking at celebrities and expect them to be perfect. Nobody is.

I seriously think that her main fan base (12,11,10) did not pay attention to little details like that.
I think they wanted to see the Jonas Brothers, Miley on stage, what she was actually doing, BESIDES not wearing a seatbelt.
I noticed, but unlike the people who like to be exactly like these 'famous' people, I couldn't have cared less.
Thats my second opinon. :vwink:

I'm a huge Miley fan - and I hope she DOESN'T get sued. Even though she broke the law, it taught her a lesson. In an article I read, Miley's dad said they were just caught up in the moment of filming. Everyone makes mistakes - just like Hannah Montana says "Nobody's Perfect!" Too bad they can't "Start all Over" to make things right again ;)

Idk, I do agree that they pick on HER a lot. She should be wearing a seat belt though, and setting an example (a good one) for all her fans. Because I'm sure she knows how many people are watching it. - It shouldn't be her dad's fault. I personally think that Miley is old and smart enough to buckle herself up in the car. JMO.

If you wach cops on tv you just see them driveing past sayiing put your seatbelt on, but this? WHAT WRONG!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!? Yes its bad, but just because shes very fameous dosent mean they have to treat her the other direction...

VMKChrisssy

Hmm... If anything, she should be punished. If Miley is highly 'influencial' then she needs to grow up. She can't make dumb mistakes like something you learn when you're 5. Just because she's a moviestar/actress/singer doesn't mean she gets the free pass. And if her father takes the blame for it, that's extremely rediculous. Although, parents are supposed to teach their kids, right? But if she's really grown up, then she should be able to solve her own problems and find a way to let her little fans know that it's important to buckle up in the car. Sing a song about it, perhaps?

*Sorry, I had to say it xD*

XxChrisssy
PS: On a side note, I do dislike Miley/Hannah, but I'm partial to her 2 best songs (See you again and Start all over). So, I'm not a true hater =3.

I don't think any one, or at least most people, noticed this until they made a huge deal out of it. If they didn't bother to mention it, most kids probably would not have noticed. I know I didn't noticed. Besides, I am sure ALL of you have gone in the car without a seat belt at least one. Although this is very dangerous, and I do not encourage it, people just sometimes forget to put it on.

I honestly don't think this would happen. Most people know that it's against the law to not buckle up. In the movie, I didn't focus on the seatbelt, I focused on her conversation with her dad. Everybody makes mistakes.

People don't pick on Miley for being Miley. It's because she's the most famous thing people wanna hear about and even small things like this matter. Well if Miley doesn't want to be picked on for this sort of thing she shouldn't be famous. Tons of kids can use Miley as a role model and she could influence young children to not wear seatbelts in the car and its quite dangerous. When in fame what you do effects everyone who watches you. Sorry to all Miley fans but she shouldn't be setting such a bad example. She's really got to be the best role model she can be.

Okay - this happened a long time ago. Today's talk about Miley is that her dad made Miley delete Lindsay Lohan from her phone. Which Miley's dad said didn't happen and Miley deleted some dude from his phone

how do you know if they were not on a set with a chroma screen in the background? the vehicle may not have even been on a real road... they still should have buckled up. blame the script supervisor of the movie not the actors.

There is no script, it's a concert movie. It's pretty much her daily life, so there's no script. And yes, they were actually in a real car on a real road.

Well I am sure its not real life considering I am sure they had to make sure they were in front of a camera, no one acts the same when they know that they are going to be on television..
