This is where favortisim comes into play. I hate events like these, where they only go to the popular rooms/people they are fond of.
Then all us ' little people ' dont get a thing.

It's Completly outrageous that they have more than 1 HOST/Staff visit their room.

I don't care who you are, or how much time you've spent with the staff. You aren't special, and everyone needs to be treated fairly.

Yeah, I have noticed that there is some favorites being played. But lets think of it this way. When I am on, I pretty much want to hang out with my friends and don't like to be bothered too much by someone I don't know. I meet new friend through my other friends or by meeting people through the forums here. Rarely do I just say "hey, want to be friends" and hang out all the time with a stranger in VMK. You hang with those you feel most comfortable with. Right? I think that is how the host are too. They like to hang out with whom they know. Everyone always crowds around the hosts and ask them all these questions. It is very hard I would think for them, so sometimes they just would like to hang out and relax with their friends and not get bombared. Granted, I don't like how they do favor these events. They should be a little more wide spread with their visiting. Come to smaller rooms also and such. But what I want to know is how many rooms do they really visit? I mean they have all day and all I have heard is the one guest room. (There are at least two hosts that I know of giving prizes...so where are they?) Oh well, back to studying for me. Congrats to everyone that was visited and hopefully they will visit you next time to those whom didn't see a host. :vcheesy:

Regardless! of whether or not Hosts prefer to hang out with friends is not a valid consideration in the awarding of prizes. The usage of private rooms as their preferred delivery method lends itself to the perception of inequity in the system. This is especially true when the same rooms are visited repeatedly while others are not visited at all. The argument can be made that they are going to the busiest rooms to reach as many people as possible. This does not take into consideration that it may only be the same exact group of people visited earlier. Therefore, certain individuals win numerous items while most win nothing at all. The fact that people are aware certain rooms are visited repeatedly contribute to the popularity of the room. You will find a waiting line for most of them. We know who operate those rooms. It is a bit unfair for us to judge those who own and run them. They are both the beneficiary and victim of circumstances beyond their control. It is Staffs responsibility to determine the means by which prizes are awarded.

This flawed methodology for awarding prizes was most clearly demonstrated during Dreams Month. To those who followed the rules outlined it was certainly a bitter pill to swallow. Especially, since the delivery system was contrary to the policies outlined at the start of the month. In my estimation that particular month was the worst ever from the time I began participation in VMK. The concept was a poorly design mimic of the in park event and was so horribly executed that it created more disharmony than excitement. It created the same distrust and concerns over favoritism as we are hearing now. I had seriously hoped that the Staff would have learned from their prior mistakes. Apparently, not.

However, if they wish to provide a fair and equitable system they should abandon the use of Private Rooms even if they are open to the public. Failure to do so will further erode their credibility. They did at least award the pin for logging on today which was a recommendation from my last rant on this subject.

PS. On the swarming issue in public rooms.

Have you noticed that when a questionable comment is made in a lobby, everyone in the room receives a warning message even though no Staff Member is present? Why can't the same method be used to award a prize to everyone in a certain instance of a public room without a Staff Member actually being present?

At least this time the prize isn't anything special. I agree with Tour that Dreams Month was terrible, encouraging the players to do nothing but stand around (often afk) all day and hope.

I was hanging out in a friends room when another friend messaged me saying that host Lily was in the room, i hurried in and got to do inferno with Lily, she stayed in the room for a good ten minutes or so chatting and watching the commercials. She asked the owner of the room what was missing as part of her room, she said a pink tiki and voila a pink tiki appeared right in front of her. then Lily did some levitation magic and she was gone. that was about two hours ago.

The difference is that it's not my job to greet people and make them all feel welcome; that's what a host does most places. Seems to me that a good host/hostess makes sure that all feel welcome/included in the event, especially those who aren't already in the in-crowd.

All this makes me wonder if it is worth wasting time losing credit time at the games just to find out that I am not good enough for a Host to visit after I paid uber credits on my room. I hosted a Super Bowl room for the Giants and had quite the crowd of Giants fans in my room and we all begged for the Host to come. I guess these poor guest came into the wrong room lol. I might just play fireworks and use my credits towards something a lot better like buying magic pins so I can trade some more for rare clothing lol. Anyhow Giants rule!!

Space, I think your comments reflect the dissatisfaction and disillusionment of many others who have posted on this thread as well as other threads in this forum. I personally think the process is flawed and should be abandoned. It makes more sense to me to reward people for doing or accomplishing something rather than sitting around for hours waiting for a host to arrive. There have been numerous ideas and suggestions that provide a better resolution than the system currently employed. I would be glad to elaborate on some of those if Staff would like to discuss them. Failure to address this problem will continue to feed the perception of inequity and favoritism. This has a corrosive effect on the credibility of those who choose to maintain its existence it its current form.

If Staff determines that it is the most effective means for awarding the prizes, they should at least reevaluate the methodology to ensure a more equitable system. Maybe they should visit a room owned by any individual only one time during the event. Once an owner has been visited then no other Host should visit a room that they own. If the people in the room are friends they will likely remain after the Host visit to hang out and chat. If they are in the room only for a chance at a prize they will leave once the room has been visited. They will then try to enter another room for an opportunity to win. There are a number of people who have created rooms for events that do not get the opportunity to showcase their talents. This is primarily because the current system has evolved around a certain core of very popular rooms and room owners. Most are popular not necessarily due to their content but more for the notoriety of drawing Hosts to visit numerous times during an event. This has brought an undue amount attention to those individuals. While it is good for the popularity of their room or projects it creates a bit of contempt from those who view the process as unfair. This is not their fault but is a failure of the process. It is Staffs responsibility to correct this shortcoming.

As stated earlier I believe this process is flawed and should be replaced.

Regardless! it needs to addressed, not ignored.
