Why do you have to wait 60 seconds between posts? I don't understand this.

It is commonly used in forums to prevent spam, help stop double posting, etc. by using a flood interval. In this case, it would be the 60 sec. wait in between posts.

i know alot about this

in vbulletin when you get a license you get a certain amount of space on you server and when you exceed that your whole forum crashes or is to active thats why we have a Flood control or we have to wait 60 seconds

P.s. they have moderators and the edit button for spamming ;)

It's for flood control. ;)

That sounds like when there is a flood warning on the weather. :)

This thread also has many replies to it.

Not the first time this topic popped up :).

Hmmm... seems to me if you're posting so frequently that 60 seconds between posts is too long, then the posts can't have much substance. I don't know of many people who can read a thread, formulate a response, and then type it out in less than 60 seconds.

Just in case anyone is questioning our use of the term "posts of substance", let's look at what the Site Guidelines For ToonTownCentral.com and VMKForums.com says about spamming.

"Spam" refers to posting identical and/or irrelevant messages to one thread or many different threads that has nothing to do with the intended subject that disrupts a thread or fills the message board with clutter.

Mass PMing people you don't know or who haven't invited you to PM them, boosting post count, excessive bumping of threads (you are allowed one bump per thread every twenty-four (24) hours!), one or two letter replies (i.e. ok, LOL, Yes, agreed, nods) and excessive use of smileys as a response are all considered "spam".

This applies to all forums, threads, posts, private messages, userpages, profiles, avatars and signatures.
