Centurey 01-26-2008, 01:43 AM Graphics and gameplay have changed alot since the late 70's with Atari, early 80's with Intellivision, Atari, and NES, and late 80's with Master System.
With the Atari in the 70's, people thought graphics like these:

were amazing.
As Intellivision rolled in, they got better...

Now, I know what you're thinking, "Wow, those graphics are terrible!"
Well, I do agree with you. I mean, how can they compare with modern day graphics? They can't.
But anyways, the Nintendo Entertainment System rolled in.

Better, eh?
Well, soon later, the Sega Master System rolled in...

Sega was always ahead of Nintendo in graphics.
In 1991, Nintendo introduced the Super Nintendo. Graphics were a whopping 16 bit. Nothing, at the time compared to it.
Until the Genesis.

Sega and Nintendo were arch enemies at the time.
Well, the "war" lasted for the next few years.
So, as you can see, graphics and stuff have changed ALOT.
Also, I would like to know, what "old" games/systems do you own? I own an NES [CLONE] with Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3.
Thanks, I hope you enjoyed this, it isn't all accurate, but it sure is entertaining to read :-)
TheMagicWithin 01-26-2008, 02:19 AM I own a Nintendo 64. if that's old.

Which sega console?
TheMagicWithin 01-26-2008, 02:44 AM A regular Sega I think..
Neoteny 01-26-2008, 02:53 AM The graphics may have been primitive, but the games back then were far superior to today's generic shooting, racing, and fighting games.

I know. My friends at school think that just because the game's graphics are terrible, the game is bad. Hmph. xD

OstrichSam 01-27-2008, 04:52 PM Very cool comparisons, I never realized how much the graphics had developed and changed
I have a Super Nintendo...most of the games don't work, but every once in a while I'll take it out and see that one of them decide to work properly. My brother has a Sega, but I'm not sure what type it was. It is definitely one of the older ones though. We also have a Nintendo 64. I think that's pretty much all of the old systems we have, unless you count Beta tapes lol
