when my friend logs in she gets a black screen and she is new to vmk what should she do?

Trying deleting cookies, disc cleaning and defragmenting the computer. See if that works first :)

ok thanks she deleted the cookies and nothing happend she gets all the way up to the map but the map wont load she hears that music when you get a message and thats it how do you disc clean and defragement?

I am assuming she has Windows XP (don't know how to do it for Vista)

Start button > Control Panel > Performance & Maintenance > either::
Free up space on your hard drive (Disc clean)
Rearrange items on your hard disk to make programs run faster (Defrag)

Try doing both, as they both should be done on a regular basis anyway ;)

Have a look on the start button.. there should be a control panel somewhere with similar instructions for Performance. Otherwise wait for someone to post here who has vista. I have suggested all I can, sorry. Just to let you know.. I sometimes get the black screen and doing all three of what I have suggested does work for me. Anyway, good luck! :)
