I'm not sure. The thing is that why would the people who didn't make it in the top 10 get the top 10 pin? I think only the Grand Prize and Runner Up winners get those, but you never know. Since it does say "participation prizes" we could get them.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I think getting to play with the gingerbread stuff is worth the time and effort. If it's not fun to do for its own sake, it might be wise to think twice before spending the credits. (I learned that after the Space Ride Competition!)

I would have to agree with this after going well over 300,000 on the Space Race ride. Make it because you enjoy it and enjoy seeing others appreciate it. :)

First off CONGRATS to all the winners!!! There are some AMAZING rooms that clearly deserved recognition. I guess they decided that Halloween rooms did not count for this competition as I do not see a single non-traditional winner. ;) They did however like the trains and "giant" creations. And I am not complaining (mryellowjcket is a winner in our house) merely making an observation.

Second, here's how I interpret the prizes:

Everyone get the 4 pack of orange drops, the everest boots, the blue jacket and the blue beanie. I think the pin is perhaps a mistake and only the winners and runner-ups should get that.

What I want to know concerns the blue beanie; is it the same as the one that was for sale that was for BOYS only? Or is it completely new?

Well, If we get all those things just for entering, that is incredibly generous of VMK! If it turns out that we only got the flag, I am satisfied. It was worth it just for the fun of building my room, and I plan to keep the gingerbread house the way it is for a while. I think that the people that keep citing "how much I spent" and how they are not getting their credits back need to chill out. If you were doing it only for the prizes, then you were making a huge assumption. Often, assumptions don't pan out. That's the way the gingerbread crumbles!:pork:

I think it has something to do with me signing up for Pirate's Online. I was on top of that one!! but after trying about fifty times (no joke) of every possible combination of my username and birthdate, I have found out that nothing works. My birthdate is correct, since I used the link on the Disneyland site, and I have even used VMK's help link. When I logged into the Disney site, I used my VMK info, and it worked. But for some reason, Contact Us won't work at all, and it is all VMK's fault. I sent them a message using the parent form, and it said something stupid like "try asking your kid their info."

Judging will take place between Wednesday December 26th and Sunday January 13th. The rooms will be judged in random order, so be sure your room is ready by the 26th of December. You never know when you might be visited by one of our fantastic judges!

While it is not necessary to have your room open to be judged, we hope you will be able to keep it open often during the event weeks so other Players can enjoy what you have created. Once your room is judged, a Room Judging Flag in Purple will be placed in your room.

If you got that email, you should of been in the competition. I would send a message to Contact Us. The only problem I see is the part where you put in your info. You were only supposed to provide your username and your room name.. nothing else. It seems you put in "Thanks, cooljamz" at the end, which could cause a problem with the registration.

Ooh! I can't believe I made it into the top 10! I thoguht I was gonna get in the top 10, but when I saw others rooms I thought I was done for, and would end up in the participation prize. But yay, congratz to all. :D

I'm so glad that many people from this forum made it to the top ten, CONGRATS! I can't wait to next year for the next competition, I will be ready,Lol. I hope they do a gingerbread competition every year. I think we are all winners all the entires where great, it had to be tuft for the staff to pick. The only person I knew was going to be in the top 10 was GPDOT I always enjoy his rooms everyone else I was not sure. Great job everyone.

First of all, I would like to say congrats winners! :) All of those rooms were very creative, and each one must have taken a lot of effort! I am glad some of those winners are people I know. :)

But, if everyone who participated gets the non-tradeable clothing pieces, then everytime I see someone wearing that I will think "That would have been me, but since Contact Us never worked I couldn't enter." That will drive me crazy. I know it sounds selfish, but that is what I will always think.

I don't know if people are still wondering, or if people know for sure, but about the participation prizes - it seems to me that everyone who participated will receive these things - and the Winner and runner-ups will also get them.

The only thing I wonder about is the top ten pin being a participation prize. Like I mentioned somewhere else, perhaps someone should ask a host

Well, you need to figure out why your contact us doesn't work and it did for the other 2000 who it did work for.
What is the issue? I would be so on top of figuring out that one!!

Some people had problems because they used the same registration for POTCO.

Others had problems because the 2000 slots were full by the time we tried to register. :RedFaced:

Well, I guess that clears up the "participation" prize questions. Odd that they call them participation prizes when they are only given to the winners. Looks like the participation prize is actually a Donald Present (which is cool, I love Donald).

I kinda wish they wouldn't have listed the "deserves recognition" rooms too, because I was okay with not winning (I had a lot of fun building my room), but I did work really hard on my room and put a lot of thought into it but now I know it didn't even qualify to "deserve recognition". :Unhappy: (I'm being overly dramatic, it doesn't bug me that much, lol, but still.... :mickey: )

I am personally not even close to happy with this competition. THe prizes were unfair, I spent so much on a donald present. I mean some people who were not even in the top ten got a participation prize for entering and recognition. I think this was one of the worst mistakes VMK has ever made. They should really re-think this.

I entered the contest expecting not to win - I'm not an exceptional room designer and there are many people out there that are so much better than I am. Based on previous competitions, VMK has set a precedent for giving everyone prizes that actually had some good value to them.
I didn't really care about the clothes, but I was looking for to the Gumdrops (had the perfect spot for them) and the pin would have been nice to add to my collection. The present is nice - I'm a big Donald fan - but it is disappointing that VMK couldn't get their story straight and tell us exactly what we should expect, without getting our hopes up with stuff we weren't actually going to get. I'll integrate the gift into my room, but this whole prize thing has been badly planned and executed.

I don't see it that way I for one find this amusing. I mean come on can't VMK even word something correctly-no one can deny it was not somewhat mis leading. I think VMK sits back and enjoys these threads.

I'm not surprised at all with this turn of events.
Perhaps you have all forgotten or were not here
when they had the first ride competition,
The Everest Ride Competition.
Back then, only one team won, there were no other
runners up and there were not consolation prizes.
As bad as that was, the prize for being the one
and only grand prize winning team was:
One Everest chair (given away free to all several weeks later)
A Safari Room (available to all soon after via card code)
A non trade able Top Ten Pin

They didn't even have the courtesy to print out all the

Congrats too all the winners, but I, like many other people, am upset about the rewards.
A lot of people spent a good amount of money on it and got that Donald box? Thats not very fair. Especially if they can't word the prizes correctly in the newsletter. I say everybody should get those prizes because they made a lot of kids and adults get their hopes up, and now they get a silly box!

Really though, I think that the communication level has gone down greatly.
Thinks are not clearly stated in the newsletters, and we get our hopes up about things we never get.
Example;
What ever happened to the baseball things we were supposed to get?
If I believe correctly, the newsletter said we would be able to get the room and costumes, all we ever got were the boys blue outfit. That didn't do any good for us girls.

I'm fairly certain that every competition I've ever entered outside of VMK has made the prizes known before registration has even begun. There may even be a law about that somewhere, but I'm too apathetic to look it up.

Actually, all participants in the Everest Competition received the Everest 3/5 pin; (Yeti Paw Print). It was also given out as a host prize, but in those days it was pretty hard to get.

I don't think the point that most people are making has anything to do with being ungrateful for a prize. Many of us would have built our rooms even if there were no contest. But VMK needs to be post things carefully in the newletter, the first time around.

I want to congratulate all the winners and participants in general. The rooms were amazing and I'm still happy with my flag. :mickey: And it was a lot of fun to get to play with the gingerbread pieces.

I think all of you that did not win or did not get the chance to enter are being quite crude.
VMK does their job and they do it very well.
VMK is learning from their mistakes from every competition and it is quite admirable to see that they still give the people who participated an extra gift.
Just goes to show how many people are greedy or changing because they are addicted to the game.

I entered this only for the flag. (thats the only prize I thought I would get) and when I saw the newsletter I was Very happy to see we would get something else too. :)
But now that they changed it to only a present it makes me sad :( It's mostly the fact that it got my hopes up, not that i expected to get a great gift in the first place.

I could just about have written this myself. Disappointing is the word for it. I, along with many others apparently, read "participation prize" to mean everyone who participated - as it has in the past. Honestly I was thinking along the lines of how nice it was that VMK was really rewarding the effort, while still giving some nice extras to a select few. We all know there are many VMK players out there who are less than likely, for whatever reason, to achieve those higher placements. I thought this was a neat way for VMK to reward those players.

I couldn't agree more.
I'm happy to have participated, and content with with whatever prize they give me, but they certainly could have prevented the disappointment of many players by communicating clearly. That is their responsibility.

Communication, or lack thereof does seem to be the crux of this issue. As I previously stated I know of many people who read what they originally wrote to mean that all 2000 entrants (or "participants" if you will) were to receive the "participation prizes". Guess we've all learned a new meaning to the word "participation". :D End result here I think is many players who would have been perfectly content with a Donald Gift as a "participation prize", are now disappointed in that originally it seemed as though everybody was going to get the other prizes.

Well, I didn't get the chance to enter. But, I built a gingerbread house anyway, and I don't care if I used all my credits up for it. I think the rooms are all built well, some better than others. Though, they have their own special spark in their room that apparently the host thought were worthy enough to win. I think it doesn't matter what prize you get, unless you would like to complain and just get nothing, that's fine too. Great job to all the winners, I hope I can enter the next competition that comes out! Though, that'll be a while.

well now, I am a bit disappointed. I would have way preferred the orange drops to a Donald present. I think VMK has a different definition for "participation" than we do.

My guess for the Doanld present is that even though 2000 people entered not ALL of them actually got a room up in time and therefore will not get a present. Which means we really have no way of calculating precisely how many Donald's will be entering the kingdom. ;) I do think the orange drops would be a far more useful "consolation" prize.

i dont know about anyone else, but i didnt get to register because of whatever their excuse was.. now, i have participtated in all the events since i started vmk which was back right after beta ended.. from previous competitions, we all should know half the prizes aren't always the best, which is why you cant make the room expecting to win, but only for fun..

personally, i'd be happy with just a donald box and/OR a purple flag, but i didnt get any.. my museum is now going to be minus items i should have gotten, but couldnt and never will be able to get again.. in other words, be happy you got what you did and enjoy it.. half of us missed out because of faulty registration, and at least you all got the chance to take part in it.. stop complaining..

Actually, I think complaining tends to make you dwell longer on the bad things rather than prepare you to move on to better things.
