Rumor has it that The Haunted Mansion will soon require its cast members to recite a spiel when assisting guests in entering the doomed corridors of the mansion. Their new scripted wording is supposed to take the place of their current non-scripted sayings.

In other words, things such as..
"Move your bodies to the dead center of the room."
"Follow the blood red carpet into the foyer, please."
"You certainly would make a great addition to the mansion..."
Will no longer be said, unless they are part of the script.

According to what I've been reading, the script comes into play because of guest complaints that the mansion is too scary because of the cast members being unpredictable when entering.

I can see Disney's reason for doing this, but I certainly will miss the old unscripted cast members. Changes are supposed to take place starting at the end of January, if this is more than just a rumor.

The whole point of The Haunted Mansion, is to be made like it's a Haunted House, this includes being made jump when CM's open the doors, and to be made like you are being watched all the time. If this is true, which I can imagine it is, in my opinion they're taking out the best part, and whole point of the ride.
Bad idea.

I happen to like the current unpredictability. If the Jungle Cruise, for example, were the same every time, I'd soon tire of it. The "ad-libs" of the Cast Members are part of what make attractions such as the Hanted Mansion and the Tower of Terror so much fun. It's especially fun to hear one I've never heard before.

Scary? Everytime I make my way into the Mansion or the Tower of Terror, for that matter, the Cast Members are just lifeless. Usually the only "scary" (if you can even call it that) I get inside the Haunted Mansion is the same spiel "Move your bodies to the dead center of the room." Tower of Terror, forget about it. Maybe once in a blue moon will someone be scary in there. It's disappointing.
