I don't know what to do. I'm trying to play Animal Crossing but I can't because my character keeps continually going to the right or left without my even touching the controller. Any tips on how to fix/prevent this?

If you lean on the Control Stick while turning on the GameCube, this problem may occur.

Have you tried turning off the GameCube, taking out the controller, plugging it back in, and restarting the GameCube?

Yes I have. And I don't even hold the controller when I turn it on! I don't know what to do!!!

Im not sure if this will work, but take the controller out, blow into the P1 controller plug-in place, and blow into where the controller is plugged in by. That might do the trick. :)

Tried it, but thanks anyway. Does the fact that it's cordless mean anything important?

Try changing the batteries to newer ones. :)

I've had this problem numerous times on my PS2. The control stick is slightly leaning. just move it and let go until your character stops moving. It happens all the time!

I've gotten this on my Gamecube controllers for probably the last few years XD

I'm pretty sure it's some kind of hardware problem, and not just the stick being off-centered. Why? Because sometimes I'll turn the game on with the stick all the way to the left, and the dude still moves in some other direction. I think that signifies that it's time to buy new controllers XD. I've found that these two things OCCASIONALLY work (Approximately 40% of the time):

1) Slamming the controller against the ground (Don't break it, though!)
2) Just... not using the gamecube for a loooooong time. Like, a month at the least.

I've also heard that opening up the controller and cleaning some of the mechanisms attatched to the sticks work too, but I've never tried it.

If you have a tech-savvy friend (And I mean REALLY tech savvy. I'm a computer programmer, and even I dunno how to fix it XD), I'd ask him to open the thing up and try to guess what's going on. Otherwise, just buy a new one.

I have a solution! i unplug the sensor thingy (wireless, remember?) and I take the batteries out of the actual controller. Then I put them all back into their respective places and voila! no more evil leaning stick! Thanks a lot for all your responses.

If you have a wireless one, turn the power switch on and off without touching the stick!
