Maybe every 2-3 months they could be announced? A "couple" of months could be anything.

I am sorry you feel this way, but as with anything in life.. the more effort you put in, the higher the rewards. It is no good just playing for a month and a half then playing less if you want to be in the Top10, you have to keep on top of it or lose. As for the people who won again.. we put the effort in!

I understand what you're saying. I thought the awards were given out every month so I played it for a month and saw that nobody won. If there was a set date I would put effort in - but random dates? Who knows when it could be given out. 1 Month? 2 Months? 3 Months? Possibilities are endless.

I'm not saying those who did win 2nd or 3rd time didn't put effort in. I know how difficult it is to get the points but if it is nothing else "new" you're going to get then maybe other people who don't have it want it. I am surprised and thankful at the scores though. Don't think I'm taking it for granite - it is difficult!

I also find it interesting that some of the names won last time.We normally reset the scores every 3-4 months. This depends on a few things though so it does vary a little. Such as last month when keswick suddenly lost it's trivia database. Luckily, several of us mods log all chat channels so we were able to award the correct people, but we had to do it sooner than planned. Things happens so we hate to really set a specific date for reset times.

As for being the same people winning, I'm sure that has to do with a lot that those people are always in live chat. Quite a few are in chat daily or stay logged in at all times. People are bound to get a little bored and go play trivia to pass the time. Specially when VMK is closed. Anyone is welcome to join us in chat and/or trivia to play.

I guess more people will put more effort in, for a longer time, if nobody knows when it will end.. I kinda like not knowing. If you want this prize, you have to keep going until the Mods decide it is time to reset them.

Congrats to all the winners. I didn't participate this round because I wanted to let others have the opportunity to have a scrolly name instead of the same people over and over again.

It's pretty weird seeing my name normal again.

The trivia game runs at all hours in live chat. You can join live chat by clicking "Enter Live Chat" from the Live VMK Chat module on the left hand side of the forums home page. Once you've entered chat, there should be a button at the bottom that says #vmktrivia, click that. If the game is already running, feel free to jump in by typing in the answers to the questions as soon as you know it. If the game is stopped, type !choose to pick a category, and !trivia to start it.

Beautifully put and I couldn't have said it better myself. Many of the players are in chat daily/nightly and jump in here and there for a question which adds up quickly. Honestly, I didn't even try this time around. The scores were so low that it just happened.

To me, the best strategy is to set a realistic goal and reach for it. If you go into trivia on day 1 reaching for 1000 - 2000 answers in a few days, chances are you're going to burn yourself out pretty quickly. Remember the old story of the tortoise and the hare. Slow and steady wins the race (or in this case, builds up answers) – except for the crazy 33,333 score – that really was the odd ball thing (haha).

And actually many trivia (and chat) members have become great friends in vmk. The playful bantering that we share is extremely joyful. Isn't that what the trivia game is really designed for? Just another outlet (related to vmk) for us to share common experiences without the limitations of the vmk dictionary yet still maintaining the basic (and conservative) G rating.

Congratulations to all the winners. It was great to see some new names fly by in the top 10. And, I hope to see these same names and new ones in the coming trivia contest.

Sorry this is kind of late, but I have met so many great people in chat and I probably wouldn't have played if it wasn't for the people who were there with me at 5 in the morning hehe.

And yeah, it was a lot of work to get to the top. My spare time on the weekends was "trivia, trivia, trivia" and I just motivated myself to get to where I ended up being.
