View Full Version : What do you think is better: dogs or cats?
supersplashgirl 12-29-2007, 01:09 PM I had a BIG fight with my friend on the phone yesterday -_- She thinks cats are better than dogs. I kept telling her the other way around. Dogs are better than cats! So I am leaving it up to you voters! What do you think is better: A dog or cat?
- Splash:rolleyes:
SafariLyssaOnVMK 12-29-2007, 07:54 PM Cat! Cats are really cute and aren't loud. Dogs sometimes grab your food from the table.(Once a dog grabed my hotdog) I agree with your friend. Cats Rule!
supersplashgirl 12-29-2007, 07:58 PM Dogs are loyal and don't sit on you tables where you eat though Safari...
SafariLyssaOnVMK 12-29-2007, 08:03 PM Dogs are loyal and don't sit on you tables where you eat though Safari...
I never said that! I ment that once a dog jumped and put his front paws on the table and grabed and ate my hot dog! I have never heard of a cat that did that.
Mooshu 12-29-2007, 08:03 PM Dogs.
Cats have creepy eyes..
Eyes of doom.. o.o
supersplashgirl 12-29-2007, 08:08 PM Mooshu,
I do kind of agree with you.
Safari,
Not all cats do that, but some do! ( Was that dog a puppy? )
GoodPolarGirl 12-29-2007, 08:10 PM I have a dog and a cat, and I love them both very much. But in quality of the animal, I would have to say dogs. As Super said, dogs are loyal. If you are sad and are maybe crying:
Response from cat~Just continues whatever it is doing and doesn't care
Response from dog~Comes over to you and does whatever it can to try to make you happy
As of where they get the popular saying~Dogs have owners, cats have staff. Meaning that Dogs are always there for you, but cats think they are more important than you are. As I repeat, I love both my cat and my dog.
SafariLyssaOnVMK 12-29-2007, 08:19 PM Safari,

No, it was not! If I remeber right it was pretty big!
supersplashgirl 12-29-2007, 08:47 PM GoodPolarGirl,
You think what I think exactly!
Safari,
I believe you, just wanted to know. Cats do have their goods!
Dear SuperSplashGirl, I prefer dogs the best bc if you look at there faces they have those shrively faces it is so adorable! i can hold a puppy all day long! - your pal t8a9

I totally agree. i have 2 dog, a girl and boy, when ever i call the girl over( i try to call the boy over but he's 13 and deaf) she always puts her but in my face, i asked my dad why she did it and he says she is showing that she is beneath me and i am in higher status. dogs are very loyal and always make me fell better =D plus.. cats scare me:eek:
It completley depends on the person.
(but dogs pwn )
MLKnCookies 12-30-2007, 01:59 AM Dogs!! Anyways, when shopping for calendars, all the dog calendars were sold out and only cat calendars were left.

see my pics in the gallary And you will see Why i like dogs, WAY MORE.
lol :)
strikemaster 12-30-2007, 02:01 AM cats are way better! And why do you think you see more dogs alive in the streets than cats? Because they can survive. Dogs are loyal, yes, but they need someone to lead them, cats are independent and can survive on their own. I have two kittens and they pwn dogs. Besides, you own a dog, but with a cat, the cat owns you.
~Strike (and cats eyes are not creepy)

LOL, I saw your dog that Wendot wants to steal.
He's cute. :)
Pinkglitter 12-30-2007, 02:31 AM i dont have any pets but i like dogs better you can play with them more and stuff so ya
Zebraa 12-30-2007, 02:35 AM I like them both. I like cats because they are clean and independent, and I like dogs because they are playful and friendly. My dog "goes" everywhere in the house which is disgusting and my cats are annoying and clingy.
ZooZoo 12-30-2007, 02:35 AM I have a dog and a cat, and I love them both very much. But in quality of the animal, I would have to say dogs. As Super said, dogs are loyal. If you are sad and are maybe crying:

Cats are hunters and loners. And they are not ALWAYS not loyal. Once when I was crying my cat came and purred and rubbed against my legs. That proves cats can be loyal too. And cats like being wild. Dogs chase people and try to bite you o.o I vote cats.
-ZooZoo/ZeeenaZeena :CastMem:
LillyTheKitty 12-30-2007, 02:39 AM I'd have to say dogs! But don't get me wrong I like cats too. They each have their positives and negatives. As it was said above me dogs are loyal you can always count on them :-)
Destination 12-30-2007, 02:40 AM Cats! Cats can do everything themselves but Dogs, you have to do everything with them. And they bark.
iRaccoon 12-30-2007, 02:45 AM Well cats SHED ON YOUR FAVORITE THINGS AND CLAW UP THE SOFA
Dogs are more protective, a cat would just run away
sktrchick95 12-30-2007, 03:15 AM I would vote cats. I have become very obsessed with them lately. (don't ask why)
In some ways I am actually like a cat. I like dogs too but not as much as cats. Dogs actually scare me a little bit. One time when I was walking my dog I saw a stray dog. He just started grwoling at me and came a bit closer too me. He looked like he wanted to EAT me, so I got scared my dog just came closer to me, then she started to walk away, so I followed her, still scared. I haven't walked a dog since. Plus my dogs never try to cheer me up when I'm sad, and I'm sad a lot. Whenever I'm crying they just ignore me. It is actually really mean. And whenever my mom gets mad at anyone(me, my brother, my dad), both my dogs start barking at me and growling at me and they chase me around the house until I go into my room and start crying. @_@
One time I went to my bus stop and there was a dead cat there. I almost cried.
Sweetiwpieanna 12-30-2007, 03:25 AM I Like Dogs Cats Shed And Rub all over you while dogs are playful and Just Cute :)
strikemaster 12-30-2007, 03:37 AM I Like Dogs Cats Shed And Rub all over you while dogs are playful and Just Cute :)
Cats shed, but so do dogs, allot more. Plus, dogs are usually just plain stupid compared to cats. When you think about it, a cat is way smarter compared to a dog. For all we know, cats may be smarter than us. Then why have they not evolved you may ask? Well, maybe they are SO smart, that they have discovered that evolution, is not needed. Still, cats rock and don't try and kill you...or your other animal friends (I am referring to when a dog tried to tare my cat limb from limb, glad I had that huge stick to scare him off with...must of hurt...)

luckyone 12-30-2007, 03:43 AM hey strike dogs are not stupid i have a dog and he is really nice to me when i am sad he comes to be and also they play with u
sktrchick95 12-30-2007, 03:46 AM When you say dogs are usually just plain stupid, Strike, that brings back awsomely funny memories.
One time I closed the sliding door and my dog ran straight into it. I couldn't stop laughing for a while. It was actually pretty funny. And one of my dogs cannot live without access to her favorite place: her bed/kennel. But it is in my mom and dad's room. So whenever the door is closed and she wants to go in her kennel she will sit at the door and cry until someone lets her in. And whenever it is in the living room, she'll still search for it in my mom and dad's room, even when she's seen it be brought into the living room. @_@
supersplashgirl 12-30-2007, 12:33 PM Thanks for voting dogs everyone who did!! :)
Strikemaster,
Yea, the cat takes advantage of you! And hey, I adopted my dogs and they lived an the streets for months before we adopted them! Cats also won't cheer you up when you are sad, they sit on your tables when your not home, they don't obey you like dogs do, and they just ignore everything you say!
SafariLyssaOnVMK 12-30-2007, 06:18 PM Well cats SHED ON YOUR FAVORITE THINGS AND CLAW UP THE SOFA

When you say cats shed are you saying that dogs don't? Besides the long-haired ones, dogs shed MORE than cats. And if you don't want the long-hairs to shed alot, brush them every other day. Also, ever heard of de-clawing? If you don't want them to claw the sofa, declaw them.
Thanks for voting dogs everyone who did!! :)

They do obey you! Cats also cheer you up when your sad. If you want them to not sit on the table, spray them with water. You can teach cats tricks too. My cat can fetch.(but she only fetches bouncy-balls)
Cats have creepy eyes..
Eyes of doom.. o.o
They don't have "eyes of doom". In my opion, cat eyes are cool 8-)
YoTong 12-30-2007, 07:20 PM I can't really say. I like cats and dogs but I really love the wild cats in Cyprus that used to come in and sit on your lap and goto sleep in front of the TV. I had like a cat party in Cyprus when I bought some cheap tin of sardines and they all flocked inside the room! I remember the ginger cat that was pregnant too and I can't wait to go back and see if she's still there!
I love dogs too for obvious reasons. They'll sleep ontop of you at night looking out the window and watch out for you. They are so loyal and mischevious that I can't decide.
Super, I like dogs bc they are so adorable!
supersplashgirl 12-31-2007, 11:48 AM Everyone,
Thanks for looking at this post, and a special thank you for who voted for dogs! Keep postin'!
You pal, supersplashgirl
Jadie 12-31-2007, 06:59 PM Eh, I like both, but I'll have to say dogs.
Good things about dogs: they're more playful and loyal. They keep skunks and my neighbor's chickens out of the backyard (I live in SF, but my neighbors have chickens). They're good to keep around in case of a fire or burglar. I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for my dog. He woke my family up from a fire.
Bad things about dogs: they are rough and violent. :l I got bit in the arm by my dog once. (but it was because he was dying, blind, and deaf). THEY STINK TOO
----------------------------------------------------------
Good things about cats: They're not as rough as dogs. They don't move around and jump on people (as much). They can be really cute. They keep rodents out of the house. EDIT: OH AND THEY'RE SO CLEAN COMPARED TO MY DOG.
Bad things about cats: THEY'RE SO LAZY. They don't move around much, and if there was a fire or something, it's not like they'd wake you up :l And they're more selfish (not saying dogs are selfless, but :l) I have an uncle with about 7 cats, and they all hide under the couch! I've been scratched by a cat once.
I've never had a cat before, so I don't know ALL the good and bad things about them.
Oh and dogs aren't always brave :l my dog is afraid of cats.
BUT, I'd rather have a turtle :D

I don't declaw my cats because those claws are their lifeline. They use them to climb, hunt, attach to things, E.T.C.

Mega_Joe 12-31-2007, 07:16 PM Dogs are better then cats! Dogs can be fun and play around with u but cats dont really do any of that. :)

Eyes of doom.. o.o
I agree! I like dogs better... My Grandmas cat bit me on the forehead!!
CuteTabitha 12-31-2007, 08:14 PM I like both, but my favorite is cats. Dogs are smelly and rough.. and besides, you gotta take them out for them to go to the rest room! Cats have litterboxes and are small and cute :) And they are independent. Dogs are like children. They always follow you around -.- and their bark is WAY too loud!
Thanks for voting dogs everyone who did!! :)

Cats do NOT take advantage. And my cats cheer me up when im sad! And they do obey, dogs just run around the house and bark at everyone -.-

Um, no.
Do most cats learn to roll over, sit, stay, jump, speak, shake, etc.?
No. Do most dogs? Yes.
So about the smarter thing? Yeah, dogs are smarter than cats. And cats are NOT smarter than humans, same with the dogs. -_-

Right on girl!:tweety2:

CuteTabitha,
Cats go use the litter box. ( it smells terrible ) Then they walk in it, then go on your tables! Imagine that. Eating on the table where your cat walked in it's droppings!
P.S My dogs are smarter than to run around the house barking! They only bark at people who don't like dogs..
( your opinion )
PinkTinkPixie 12-31-2007, 10:54 PM Definately dogs, for me. I've never really liked cats. I'm not sure why, they're just more mysterious than dogs. They can appear out of nowhere at unexpected times, and it scares me half to death! Haha.
~Pink
supersplashgirl 01-01-2008, 12:37 PM PinkTinkPixie,
I was at a sleepover. So I went to the bathroom. As I got up, I heard a MEOW!! And it was the really mean cat. So, I let him out shaking really badly. Cats do come out unexpected!
Your pal, supersplashgirl
I like dogs better because there loyal.Everytime i try to carry a cat,it scratches me!I like puppies more than dogs!puppies are so cute!
TheBird 01-03-2008, 01:43 AM Cats, all the way.
Silverstream 01-03-2008, 01:46 AM I have two cats, and a dog. I love them both equally and don't prefer one over the other.
dabaseballking 01-03-2008, 01:55 AM Cats. I have a kitten of my own. I'm trying to persuade my family not to declaw poor kitty :(
They live on their claws!
What if they got out of the house... [they could get in trouble!] :(
(sorry, had to edit ~SpinMarty)
EtnaGreen 01-03-2008, 02:00 AM first of all if a dog runs into a door that is closed is because they cant see as well as cats which does not make dogs stupid. Just because you have had one dog bight you or steal your hot dog does not mean all dogs are evil. My dogs never steal my food or have bight me before. some dogs who are bigger than they no do get kind of rough, its not there fault they think they are they size of a daushcand. Some dogs who act mean normally have been abused, for instance if you put a dog in a cage for so many hours they will go crazy and be mean. again not there fault.
I like dogs better because I am algeric to cats and they make my eyes look like the hunchback of notre dames eyes. Also I find cats meaner, when I brought my dog over to my grandma's house ( who was five cats ) he saw a cat and tried to be friends with it. The cat hissed at it and scared him away.
SafariLyssaOnVMK 01-03-2008, 02:55 AM I don't declaw my cats because those claws are their lifeline. They use them to climb, hunt, attach to things, E.T.C.
~Strike
I just mensioned declawing because its what most people do. We put these things over her paws so she can scratch but not do any damage. They don't have to worry about hunting if they're indoors most of the time.
Nemofinder 01-03-2008, 02:57 AM DOGS
cats smell and are sneaky in my opinion
SillyBrightPuppy 01-03-2008, 03:00 AM dogs :) woot!
- Silly
EtnaGreen 01-03-2008, 02:39 PM Yes dogs are loud but just like how cats can be declawed, dogs can have their bark removed.
BaldEagleBob 01-03-2008, 03:43 PM You must remember that all dog species are social/pack animals and that all cats (except for lions) are solitary hunters.
Dogs behave better because we can train them to accept us as their pack leader. That's why dogs get along with humans so well. They are hard wired that way. Dogs that don't behave well have not been trained to accept that their human is the pack leader.
Cats will accept you and be affectionate, but you cannot dominate them. They see themselves as equal to their humans. That's the way the feline brain works. If you try to control them as you would a dog, they will rebel and often turn mean. They are far more independent than dogs. My cat doesn't get nearly as upset when I go away overnight as my dogs do.
Cats usually do well by themselves, dogs hate to be alone.
I have 2 dogs and 1 cat. I love them all, but for different reasons.
I think more people like dogs better, because dogs will usually do what their human wants them to, cats often won't.
GVErin12 01-07-2008, 09:56 PM Strike.....ever heard of wolves? ye they LIVE outside and you cant be stupid and live independently.
hey wasnt there a movie about evil cats attacking the secret agent dogs or something? And didnt the dogs win?
OstrichSam 01-07-2008, 10:18 PM I like both. Although, cats also seem very...mysterious and sort of creepy. I still think they are very cute and well-behaved. My problem with dogs is training them, but I'm sure that the hassle of training a dog is worth it in the end. If I had a choice, I would get a cat and a dog, because I wouldn't be able to choose between them (as long as they got along!).
PaperClip 01-08-2008, 09:07 PM I'm a cat guy. I never really have liked dogs as much as I do cats...don't know why...that's just the way it is with me.
