Today I tryed to be someone's friend but when I requested it told me that eaither they or I had 150 people on our list.

Yes this is normal. That message has been there for a long time.

Whenever I've gotten it, it was my list that was full, but anyway.

I have had this before, but since I replenish my list every two days, mine never gets full. I never refuse a friend request so mine gets full quick. If a user is not on frequently, I delete them after two days. everyone on vmk has to see that a lot of friends does not mean you are popular, it just means you have a lot of people who are able to give request and you are able to say 'yes'. So, i recommend (and it is unfortunate) but I review dates when last log on was. If a user falls into the two day log in category, they are deleted. I just cannot afford to let my list get full. If one person just finds no interest in vmk, I cannot keep them on the list. If I do, I then disable the possibility that a person who ask a request and is a possible awesome friend in the future the ability to get on the list.
