My kids want MP3 players for Christmas. I have an iPod, so we thought it might be best to get iPods for them. However, I've read a lot of good things about Zune MP3 players, so now I'm not really sure. We have a huge variety of musical interests, classical to country to hard rock, so whatever we get them needs to have lots of songs available. I've noticed that Wal-Mart has started offering some songs in the MP3 format. I purchased three just to be sure they would work on my iPod, and they do. I don't want to have to buy the same song more than once for all of us to be able to have it. No need for video capability, but it's ok if that's part of the deal. They need at least 10GB of memory.

So, the point is, iPod or Zune, which is better? Anyone have experience with both, or an opinion either way?

Thanks so much! :xsmiley:

iPods are cool, but I have seen the Zune and it seems to be a better quality item. The screen is bigger, unless you buy the iPod Touch, which costs $50 more than the Zune. The Zune's headphones are also better than the iPods. I'm not an expert on either of these things though, so you could google the differences and you'll probably find a better comparison than mine. Good luck!

iPod is better, I can even charge it using gatorade and an onion.
iPod can watch movies on the 80GB ones, if you need a phone then get an iPhone. It has movies, music, photos and all that. But if you're getting an iPod, ONLY get a 16GB iPod Touch, 80GB or 160GB iPod's. Those are where the party is. ;-) EDIT: Now that I see you are giving your kids MP3's, then I say get them the 4-8GB iPod's. Not the shuffle, it's not that great, mainly the iPod touch, regular iPods, and the 80GB/160GB iPods rock.

Thank you both for your help! We finally decided the best thing was to take the kids and let them decide. That way if later on they're disappointed, it's their own fault. :xwink: They both chose the 80GB iPod, one black, one silver. More than I wanted to spend, but there's only a $50 difference in the 8GB and 80GB so it didn't seem sensible to get the 8GB. :xtongue:

Basically i wont right a big tech document but, if your allready fimiliar with the basic ipod and itunes, it would be great if you would buy them one, just incase they need help or something.. Apple are alot nicer on help and support over Microsoft.

I doubt that for a single child $489 on both the child on one present.. I think that money would rather be spent on them with something else..

I would recomend the Apple Ipod Nano V3:

I would let them choose the colours and that would be perfect, the 8gb would be the best memory capacity.

Each child only got one iPod. It may have sounded confusing when I said one silver, one black, but I meant one child chose a silver, and the other chose black.

Truthfully, the reason we didn't go with the 8gb is that I don't think a $50 difference between 8 and 80 gb is a good deal on the 8 gb. I'd rather go ahead and spend the extra to get ten times the amount of storage. My husband and kids agreed. I do think 8 gb would have been enough, but for the price difference, we just went with the 80 gb. They will have plenty of room for all the music, pictures, videos, and games they could ever possibly want so I think this was the best choice.

Thank you for your help and opinions! :xsmiley:
