I was kinda dissapointed when I logged on to VMKF. I saw that a few of the adds were some-what innapropriate. I actually had to find somewhere else on the forum to go so I would not have to see those adds. Could this be fixed in any way?

I've seen those too. I don't think they can help it, they're adds by Google.

I dont think Non G Rated Stuff is what keeps the forums up, I think you should think again on that one.

Yeah...I've seen an inappropriate advertisment at the bottom of the page, which I'd rather not go into detail about it.

I was VERY disapointed to see this G-Rated site have advertisements like those! It still shocks me that they don't look into these things more. There are way to many adertisements here in the first place.. maybe a few on the bottom of the page should be plenty.

Yes but Nick's VMKF isn't a sign that says "COME PUT R-RATED ADS ON MY SITE!!" Google is the one that produces those its random every site has it no matter what but Nick doesn't get paid by those ads Google does and Admins and Mods have the power to block them

P.S: Mods and Admins gets paid in fish then is used to slap you in VMKFC with.
P.SS: Google gets paid by those ads then they post them on a site

Raccoon, this does not mean that they should be there. They can control this, and they do.

I reported three ads today. =]

Nick should E-Mail Google and tell them how this is a G rated site and even ten year olds are going on here and clicking on them and getting BLINDSIDED for LIFE!

While an administrator can block the ads, that doesn't stop more from appearing. Being they are Google ads, they Google whatever happens around the site, and finds ads for that subject/page you currently are on. If there's something that isn't G-rated, it will still search that.

What I'm trying to say is that it is the users that control these ads, if you can catch my drift. If posts and wording of them can be controlled, the ads will be controlled by themselves.

As I understand it, Nick, as the site owner, has the ability to request these ads be removed.

Each time an inappropriate ad is seen by a mod or reported by one of the members it is placed into a thread. Nick sees these links and deals with them.

Understand that we all dislike the ads and we certainly do not approve of them but until Nick can get them removed it is best to just ignore them.

If you do not click the link there is not much there cause alarm but a few words.

what ads? i never noticed ads until they were mentioned today. I dont scroll to the bottom of the page usually. and today all ive seen is google and amazon ads. if i never noticed them...i doubt a lot of kids saw them so i wouldnt get too worry. most kids are searching a page with a motive. they will pretty much ignore words at the top and probably not scroll all the way to the bottom because everything important is in the middle. now pop ups are something totally different and those are in your face. i have more than one pop up blocker on my computer to prevent the annoyance. so I have no idea how many pop ups are connected with this site. I hope not a lot. and I also hope not many children have noticed the ads.

The more I think about it..it seems quite hippacritical for VMKF to be so strict on the G-Rated content yet allow these adds to be shown on this site like nothing.

So who controls the users? I believe it's the mods.

If something isn't posted G-Rated that is creating these adds don't you think the mods should remove what ever it is finding to create these adds.

Thank gooseness. Yea, I didn't see any ads on the site today. (Nvm, I have Mozzila, which has ad-blocker) A lot of them just bothered me. I don't want to get into too much detail, but it's not really right. Many younger kids go on this site and many parents don't want kids too see those.

Yes, those ads are still there today, very inappropriate for a G-rated site. Looks like about 1/3 to 1/2 of the ads are non-G-rated. Can't something be done to block them? Have the mods contacted Google, or is Google just not responding?

Stemaboat_Tyler

I think this has been discussed ad nauseum. No, we're not trying to be hypocritical by hosting non-G ads. Yes, Google sometimes messes up and it's up to us to update Google with ads we don't want.

If you see a non-G ad and it bothers you, then don't click on it!

If you see a non-G ad, then PM a mod with a description. We give the list of bad ads to Nick to remove when he gets an opportunity. We appreciate everyone's help and patience.
