I was thinking about getting a wii, but is it really worth it? What kind of games/accessories do you prefer with the wii?

the games are amazingly fun! my favorites are wii sports, mario party 8, mario galaxy and alot more!! plus you can purchase internet (and you can access almost ANY website) and you can also purchase extra games, and it also comes with a free weather channel and news channel but all require internet connection.
and it also comes with a Mii maker where you can make little cartoon people which is just as fun as the videogames.
I would definately reccomend the wii, it's great for the whole family! and it comes with so many other fun features.

I was looking at the Wii play and it didn't look too interesting other then it comes with a wii remote. I've seen the nunchuk, but what's it for?

the nunchuk helps you control things like in super mario galaxy you got to use it to move mario around and ect.. the wii is fun and awesome but you gotta get super mario galaxy its awesome

my kids love their wii, they play mario party and i'm getting mario galaxy now.

I'm also a Mario Party fan, and from Wii Play I like the Tanks the best, but it's not as fun a game as Wii Sports to me. The games get old quick, in my opinion.

It seems that more games are almost requiring the Nunchuk to be used with the Remote. This is a good thing, in my opinion, since it creates more of a need to buy it. It's essential in Donkey Kong Barrel Racing, Mario Galaxy, and even Zelda (if I remember correctly - been playing too much Galaxy lately).

What is the Nunchuk? It's a device that plugs into your Remote and is used in similar ways. It's your second hand in Wii Sports Boxing, it's the steering mechanism in Galaxy, and it's the accelerating tool in Barrel Racing. It doesn't have an infrared device like the Remote does, so I assume it sends messages to the Remote to send to the Wii...

Get the Wii - it will help get anyone into shape. lol ;)

Not true. It's just where you live, everywhere else it's hard to get. I'm lucky though, I have Nintendo World for everything:eek:

Anyway, get the Wii, its awesome. It's winning in the console(sp?) war right now, and the 360 had a year start...

Im using my Wii to browse the forums. Titles to look into in the future: Sonic Riders:Zero Gravity and (After 11 years) the sequel to NiGHTS: Into Dreams... Plus, the Wii Connect24 service is free, unlike Xbox Live. The Nunchuck is used as a joystick, and has i believe an internal sensor to communicate it's movements. Classic controler is used for the array of games found on the shop channel. it also can use gamecube disks and accesories. its basically 2-7 consoles

That isn't true. Maybe for your location, but not mine. I went into a Best Buy and there was 5 Wii Consoles. I went into a Gamestop and there was 2.

Anyway, the Wii is totally worth it! I got mine last Christmas. It is soo fun! To me, my favorite games are Mario Galaxy, MySims, and Cooking Mama. It is so interactive and fun! It's great for parties, too. ;)

Which games would you recomend?
So far the only games that look interesting to me are:

Mario Party 8
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games
Game Party (has mini games such as darts, table hockey, etc.)

I haven't really looked at the games so I'm just looking for peoples opinions on which games you like the best. I was thinking of getting Super Mario Galaxy but I'm not sure.

for me personally i perfer PS3 or XBOX 360 because when i play a game i want awesome graphics and the graphics for the wii are to cartoony and ive played one of my friends not as cool as all he gave it away in a few days of having it

If you want a real workout (and fun game), buy the Donkey Kong Barrel Racing.

Mario Galaxy is, in my opinion, a great game...and is definitely made so you get your money's worth.

Either way, whichever games you get, rent them first to see if you like them. Better to pay a few bucks to find out you don't like a game than the $50 or so it will cost to purchase it.

yes xbox and ps3 are great systems but for fun get a wii. Wii gives you a form of gameplay that can't be compaired to any other game system.

my parents bought it for themselves bc they saw somebody elses and thought it was cool. everybody who has played theirs (including me) really likes it. The basic sports games that come with it rock, and u can buy or rent other games to play on it, although i have only played the sports games.
i like how it requires u to get up off your behind.
btw, my parents live in kind of a backwoodsy area and they found it at several stores, so i cant imagine that it is so difficult to find.

Not sure if your still looking around for the "WII" gaming console, but I purchased mine back in May/June 2007 from Costco. Our family has memberships to both "BJ's Wholesale Club" and "Costco", and numerous times I have seen the game console bundle at both locations. The bundle included two nunchucks/remote's, 2 games (WII Sports and The Legend Of Zelda Twilight Princess)...I think all together the bundle cost $325, which is not bad since just the base system with one nunchuck/controller cost $250. I recommend looking in your local "BJ's Wholesale Club", "Costco", "Big Lots" or "Sams Club"...Anyways here are the games I have and my recommendation:

I think I may have confused the "Wi-Fi USB Connector" and the "WII Lan Adaptor". The "Wi-Fi USB Connector" actually requires you to purchase it seperately, where the "WII Lan Adapor" is a network card already inside the gaming console. I remember I was able to connect to my router immediately, and never had to look further into the "Wi-Fi USB Connector"...

On Another note, I just read this from Nintendo WII technical support web site that the "Wi-Fi USB Connector" has been discountinued until further notice:

If you like being active you'll like it.
There is a lot of movements to the games ( Super Mario Strikers, WarioWare: Smooth moves, Wiiplay, etc. )
They are coming out with something new, you step on to a scale looking-thingy, if you wanted to do push ups, you would have to sit down, put your hands on the scale, and do push ups.
It really detects it! It's called WiiFit.

I'm the other way around. I have an Xbox 360 and i want a Wii instead. I think it depends on what kind of person you are. If you like fighting games, Xbox 360's have a lot of those games, with great graphics too, but Wii's are very interactive. It depends which kinds of games you like also.

It already comes with wi-fi. In case you didn't know, when they made the Wii they put a wi-fi adepter in there.

Not so many 3rd party games have come out the for the Wii because, the 3rd party companies thought that the Wii wasn't gonna that great like the GameCube. After E3 they all were wrong so they are still in they process of making the games.

My family is addicted to Mario Party 8. My mom loves it, lol. It's a great console and I'm more than happy with the graphics.

I love the fishing game.. and the one that you have to find the Miis :) I like wii play and as MU said, it's not more than 5 dollars more expensive than buying only the extra control.

I got a 360 for Christmas last year. It's been a bad year. I have learned that the 360 stinks unless you can play M-Rated games. And guess what? My parents won't let me play M-Rated games, even though I'm a teenager. So I got a Wii for my birthday in October. It's been amazing. At least compared to the 360. I mean, I don't understand why people run around saying 'omg the Wii pwns everything omg omg its a revolution so amazing lolz'.... but it is great. I'm probably getting PS3 this Christmas because my dream has always been to play Kingdom Hearts, but I never got a PS2, and now because it's so late in the PS2's life cycle, it's dumb to get a PS2. Besides, I really want to play Uncharted and Warhawk.

I got the Atlantis Squarepantis Game for the Wii and I already got hrough 3 levels of it in a half hour.

It is amazing...I got it the day it came out and am still playing it. when you run out of games to play, there are always the free channels like the check mii out and voting channel. I just got guitar hero 3, trauma center new blood, and high school musical sing it. They are all good and amazing. If you like action games like FPS and stuff, buy a 360. The wii is for mostly mario games and games that require more than 1 player.

Forget the Wii. Forget the 360.
In the future, the PS3 will have the best collection of games, just like the PS2 did.

It's only about 20 dollars I think, it's got all types of random games like darts, ski ball, shuffle board, ping cup, hoops, and two others that I forgot.

It's a cool game for the money that it's worth.
