View Full Version : Won't be getting on much anymore

Hey guys. Well, I've decided to stop playing VMK and VMKForums now. It's been fun but really I'm done with this one. I might login every once in a while to check on things, see what this year's Christmas is like but I'm going to stop playing regularly.

The reason for this is that I'm not really having much fun in VMK anymore. Basically, it's to the point-well, actually it's been at the point where it's log on, play a few mansion games, then spend a few grand on the new weekend items.

Now I've played VMK since it's beta in '05. I've seen it change into what it is now. Really, I can't say I've seen that much, they have greatly expanded the items list but that's about it apart from the inventory/trading screen updates.

And the latest news with the costumes, pins, and ride-a-thon really did it in for me. Sure, we're getting a new pin and costume but it's not fun for me. I mean, I just blew 10K on the new costumes only to never wear them and maybe trade a few off in a year - I don't feel satisfied. That's one fault about VMK, I know some will disagree with me here but you can't really do anything with the stuff you buy. You can wear it or trade it, that's it, it's just stuff. There's rare stuff, and not-so-rare stuff but that's all that's there. You collect as much as you can then you...well, trade it off or just sit on it.

Yes, I must bring up Pirates Online here. If you've read anything over here (http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131510), you'll know what I'm taking about. Pirates Online really is more my style. As said in that thread, VMK is a chat room with trading. But with Pirates, it's more of and action game. Both are aimed at two targeted audiences. If you like to chat, trade (if you really like to trade), play a few mini-games, VMK is for you. But if you're more into adventure then Pirates might be more your style.

To me, taking your crew into some cave in the Tortuga jungle to wipe out an army of lvl20 EITC soldiers seems more fun - to me - then starting up another round of ship battle, firing off at some guy you don't know again, again, and yes, again. ;)

It's really lost it's magic, we're not getting much from Yavn or the crew and another Ride-A-Thon?
That's our new event. That's another thing that's not really fun. You wait to get in, once in you click to the teleporter then wait again, collect your prize then do it over and over and over. And now they want us to buy more movies to get the red Stitch Hat.

VMK is an addicting game, I must admit. It's hard to just leave it all behind but I'm going to. It's addicting in a sense that you feel pressured to keep playing, at least I did. I don't play for two hours a day or anything but I still played. It was like I had to keep riding the Ride-A-Thon, I had to play at least a few games and if I didn't, well then I might not get to buy all I wanted that weekend.

The hardest part is my friends, you all have been great and I'm sorry to have to do this to you. So if anyone here has helped me out in any way, thanks, I appreciate it, I really do.

VMKForums is a great site. To me it was a part of VMK. Nick and his staff have created a great place for players to chat and trade and plan activities.

I'll be keeping busy, I have stuff to do. The last few weeks I wasn't playing much VMK anyway, it was really just a last resort thing. If you would like to contact me you could drop me a PM here or send an e-mail my way. I'll still be checking back here once in a while. However, e-mail would probably be better since that is what I check more often.

Again, thanks.

I am sorry to see another long-time VMK/F player leave, but I can understand that some people prefer more action in their games. As long as you have had fun during your time here, that is the main thing. May I wish you bon voyage and good luck through life/games :wave2:
