i got in as well, after a long wait. i got stuck on using the cutlass. i can't get passed the tutorial. what gives?

Woot!! The first beta phase was quite a let-down for me since i couldn't finish a quest and was so slow I just left. Once phase two started I couldn't believe what I saw! How much it improved is amazing. Very helpful for new players, easier controls, and the speed! My goodness the speed of the game is fantastic compared to the first beta testing period. I can see great things coming from this game. I advise everyone to check it out!

I don't know now but before, on beta time, you had to wait until you got your title approved

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that, but just to be clear, no one was able to keep their beta characters on the live version of the game. It's my understanding that you can still access your beta character through the test server, but upon logging onto the full, pay version of the game, your account is reset. You have to create a new Pirate, pick a new name, and start from scratch. Luckily I was only about a week into the game, so I don't have a lot of ground to make up, but I'm sure there are many other players who are a bit frustrated with this fresh start.

I don't mind. I'm a little upset that I have to get my notoriety up for the 3rd time, but it's kinda of easy up to level 8-9. I haven't even logged into the main game yet.

If your acc was beta, you get the full pay version forever?

You don't have to pay for everything, just if you want extra goods and such. If your perfectly ok with playing with regular weapons, your fine with playing the free version.

so nobody knows why i'm stuck on the cutlass tutorial? i'm really getting sick of watching Will Turner practice on the air. it let me up to level 2 when i started swinging, but I can't get out. What gives?

What part are you stuck on? Did you fight the dummys? Do the combo move to defeat both of them? After this is done you hit escape. Also for those who have not figured this out it appears the basic free account only allows you to level up to 3 only. I saw a message come up after being locked in jail.

The badges were not given out on just the first day but from May 23, 2005 - May 27,2005..

This was the BETA period.. So the beta testers like myself would get something.

Whoever said that was mistaken. Read the 17th post on this thread. Basically, if you want to play on the full, live version of the game, you have to start from scratch, regardless of whether you were a beta tester or not.

It depends on if you used the character much?

You don't need to pay unless you want an upgrade only. Other then that, the game is free, but just lower advantages towards areas in the game.

the game is really laggy for me, mainly because i need to delete a lot of stuff on my computer, and something with game or graphics cards. Since i first downloaded the game back when the first beta phase started, should i uninstall then install it again, to see if it helps a little? Also, if i do that, will i lose my account?

ok, thx. just to let you all know, if you have an account on VMK, you can use that log in info on any site that is off of disney. you don't need to create a new account.

I joined last week but I don't think I'm going to pay for it. It's a really great game, and I would if I could, but I have parents who think it's pointless and I spend more time on VMK.
I'll still play on my non-paying account though! :D I'm level 3 and I can't find the cave on Tortuga xD

i just joined a couple days ago. it is really neat! i didnt upgrade the account though. it seems expensive to upgrade, when you can still play for free. sure there are some advantages but i dont think the price is worth it yet. just my opinion.

Unpaid accounts only get 2 weapons. Paid get cutlass,pistol, dagger, grenades, voodoo doll, voodoo, staff, sailing, and cannon. You get more types of ships to buy and can advance your skills up to level 25. You can also do more quests.

Try the unpaid to see if you enjoy the game, but if you like it, I'd really suggest paying. You really do get a lot more out of it then.

How much is the paid account? I may give myself a birthday present after Christmas, and get the upgrade. Can you only do by month, or do they have longer subcription periods?
