Basically it is a big VMK room hub. Each of us gets a teleporter to link our rooms with everyone elses on the fan site.

I just finished hosting a tour of my end of the Port, which I have to say was fun :) I've never had my rooms fill up as much as they did before in recent memory. I also was surprise we were able to fill all my chairs in A Secret Beach! :D That made me smile.

Well our little room fast ran out of space. MrGenie donated a second room so we have plenty of room to grow. Since we now have two, the name has changed as follows:

VMK Fan Site Central - Red (my original)
VMK Fan Site Central - Green (MrGenie's room)

We will add rooms as needed. I plan to bring up the third one tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who came by and helped. A special thanks to all who were so patient while I tried to set up their trades.

However, if you are in my rooms, please leave the lights that are on ON! It's kind of a pet peeve to come to my room and notice a light went out. Changing bulbs and candles are expensive in VMK. ;)

I particularly like MrGenie's color-theme idea. For the Dis network, we initially numbered the lobbies, then figured that that would get us in trouble with VMK, so I changed it to NPC names (we have Maleficent, Yeti, and Shrunken Ned), but colors will be so much more clear especially after you furnish the rooms appropriately.

;) Unless I had a recent ***-change operation that I'm unaware of, I think I'm a boy. (Yup, still a boy.)

Sadly, I don't even have a personal room right now. Of my rooms, 2 became portal lobbies, 1 a central lobby, and 1 a storage room. The VMK "link" into the Dis network right now is, unfortunately, into my storage room, which does, however, link to 1 of the Dis portal lobbies.

I need to figure out how to expand the Dis network, though, and if you would like a somewhat more prominent link between the VMK and Dis teleporter networks, let me know. For example, if you want a hub to hub connection, that can be arranged.

I just have to say, this is the coolest idea I've seen in quite a while....thanks so much TinkerBlue for coordinating this and letting me help out. It is so much fun being able to hop back and forth between all of your awesome rooms even when you aren't there...I was just telling somebody that it's like an entirely new park! You all must try this tomorrow night. I would guess that we have 40 or 50 rooms linked up between the two lobbies right now. I'm planning on documenting this once it's all set up...probably in the next few days.

this is an exciting idea.Correct. There is currently one link going between hubs...it's clearly marked in the middle of the room and is way cool. :) The color of that link shows the lobby you are in. All of the teleporters around the perimeter of each hub go to various guest rooms. If you are linked to the hub, you are free to link as many other rooms to your linked room. Hee hee. This is so much fun! I made a new room tonight to add to the hub, and then linked it to my other two rooms, so now who knows who will be in there when I'm not around! Mice and such. :)

dizneydesi, it's really easy to use the teleporters. When you buy them you get two. Put one in your room. Give the other one to TinkerBlue or MrGenie. (Just like Alexander and Bezoar said) That's it. :)

Basically it means anyone can go in your room as long as there is at least one person in any room that is at any way connected to the hub. And since the VMK Fan Site hub is now connected to Bezoar's (the master of teleportation) Dis networks, there must literally be hundreds of rooms to explore! (exxageration? maybe not)

Whee! I suggest we have an exploration party some time this week when more rooms have been hooked up. I'll make sandwhichs, some one bring a flashlight. Who know's where we'll end up? :D

Well, the VMK fan site matched the size of the Dis network in 1 night! :) I think the Dis is at ~40 or so spread between 3 lobbies and a hub room.

The Dis might have more people playing, but probably a smaller fraction who are "addicts" trying to mine every last feature of VMK. I know a lot of Dis people come here to get their info fix!

Firstly, my apologies Bezoar. I was a bit "confuzzled" (lovely word Becky) myself last night and was having trouble keeping track of things. I do think if the DIS Board group could provide a hub to hub link, that would be better than using your own room.

DIS Board members already in that network don't need to join this one as well since the two networks are linked. If you want to do so, you will be very welcome but don't feel you have to do so.

Now, for those who want to link, I will be on later this afternoon and evening. Either Private Message me to set up a meeting time or place or see MrGenie if you run into him first.

Since we're going to run out of colors very quickly, I will be adding a second room in a new scheme. This will use the Wild West Room and it will be called VMK Fan Site West - Blue. I figure we'll be needing ALL room designs so, if anyone wants to become a hub in the Space scheme, Wonderland, Haunted Mansion, that would be great. Just try to coordinate with MrGenie or myself so that we can devise the color/icon scheme for the room (for example, the Tiki room might use Tikis flanking the central hub teleporter). I have had several folks offering to set up hubs. Please stand by for a day or two while we gauge demand and work out some of the details.

Now, due to the cost of photographs and the glitch that won't allow photos to be published to separate albums, I think we'll dispense with that idea. Instead, we'll come up with a way to map the hubs and post the information here.

Please be patient as we are just starting this endeavor so we may not have all the answers right away. I will be available off and on all during the holiday so if you don't get set up today, don't fret, you will not be "left behind or forgotten".

Also those who have clubs going (such as the Pirate and Tink Clubs), you may prefer to link in as a group rather than as individuals. You would need to provide a room as a hub for your own members (such as the "Pirate Club Gangway" or Lobby) and then link to one of the main hubs. In this case, your teleporter would be mapped by club name rather than by individual name. See, lots of flexibility.

Those who like to create games, keep in mind that you now have a much wider network for devising "scavenger" hunts, and multi-room game layouts if you coordinate with one or more guests. The possibilities are numerous and, from what I've seen, there are many creative people out there. For example, two or three players could devise "quests" where players would have to play different games or visit specific guest rooms.

And, if you just want a quiet place to think or "put up your feet" after a harried go at Fireworks or Pirates, there are rooms for that too. My own Library Under the Sea is there to be enjoyed as well as the Observation Roof.

Then, the other hubs only need a single color-coded teleporter in the middle of the room to link back to the Main Hub (so, instead of our current red-green link and the red-gold link you are working on, we'd have a green-green, red-red, and gold-gold links to the Master Hub instead). This should work out well- a Master Hub link in the middle of each normal hub, and then user links all around the perimeter of each normal hub. :) Very modular as well and frees up space for more member teleporters in each regular hub.

Well they have increased the cost of so many things (I think maybe they have been watching the gasoline pumps!! :D ), so I'm really surprised they are 2 for 500 credits.

Just a suggestion . . .
you can stack many more coffins into a room (check out the Dis Borads' rooms). That way we don't need so many central rooms. It may be wise to think of a central "rainbow" room to get to all the teleport rooms. This could done with the teacup teleporters (ala Dis Boards). This "rainbow" room could then teleport you to any of the colored rooms.

That is one idea. I think MrGenie and I were trying to keep things from being too cluttered. I'm going to play with a few configurations to see what I come up with. The nice thing is we can tweak as we go along.

One other thing. In the next day or so, I will be mapping the teleporters so, if I pop into your room and then out again and don't say "hi" I'm not ignoring you or being rude. I'm just on a survey mission so please don't be concerned.

I read about this teleporter network yesterday and immediately went out and bought a Coffin. Then I started looking around for any other VMK fan site members (I think I only have one on my friend list) to try and hook me into one of the hubs. I finally found it, and after a little poking around, I finally ran into TinkerBlue and my coffin link was immediately placed in the purple hub.

I'm really glad you guys are setting this network up. I'm looking forward to finally meeting some of the folks I read of on this fan site in the game itself.

I would like to connect to the VMK Hub also; preferably in some tucked-away place. (My room, "Aice's Cottage", is currently just a place to relax, but I'm thinking of ideas for making it some kind of music room.)

However, I would prefer to use a teacup teleporter if there is room, because frankly, the coffin ones just don't go with my decor. :) I'd like to know if this is possible before I go out and buy or trade for the teacup teleporter set.

I've had no luck finding people on the game to contact about this, so it would be great to hear how I should proceed.
