The swirly cyclone thing around your body is only because of Halloween. I think they will take it away as soon as the month is over. And about the flip hat and pan hat. If you are moody about trading something for flip and finding that it is worthless, it's your fault for trading it in the first place. We all know VMK is re releasing, so be more careful.

I don't think so. These seem like part of the "delayed loading" system - where items aren't loaded until you see the item on a person, in a room, for sale, or in your inventory.

I know it was a well intentioned idea - but I really think its damaging the whole game. The blue boxes were bad enough (and they were pretty bad), but all of this loading is really slowing things down.

Has anyone reported these crashes to VMK? Do they even know its a problem?

The blue boxes make so many guest room things much harder to do. I'm not a fan of the 'new VMK' but I think they made the updates for dial up people or something... lol. Also, the newsletter...
I'm not a fan of Yavn not speaking. I think they fired him. VMK was more fun in 06'. One thing is for sure; you can never bring it back.

hmm i agree and at the same time disagree i agree bc the HM thing loads and my friends leave me and the loading is annoying!! i disagree bc some of us need rare stuff and the starters have a chance to get rare and the people who didnt know before how to work vmk but now does

The thing about the swirling under the body when the room is loading... Fire Fox (my internet browser), has stopped working because of it.

Why New VMK is Better
1. The new monorail has the music game. And even if you do crash inside the monorail, you can mix music with better tunes than the main street version and it to stop crashing in the train, just switch off the in-game sound.
2. I find the new layout easier to use and it helps find certain objects much faster.
3. 2007 has been a big year. They have released new areas, squashed bugs, accepted more staff members and all that. The only con is that the haunted mansion game now takes a while to load. It has been a great year for VMK and I don't care if no one agrees.
4. You think the game is crashing because the of the updates? Well, you're probably right. But get used to it! All new things have bad bugs to start off with, and considering staff have released all these new items, it may be because of the new items and clothing + looks, not just the layout.

i think all of the changes and getting dc all the time is what made some of my friends leave vmk.. i like the old vmk.. when all my friends got on. but now either they have left vmk, or they hardly ever go on.. i only have about 8 good friends that go on vmk almost everyday.. it's just not the same.

I do miss beta times though, everyone was so much nicer and gave free because they wanted to not because people begged them..
I also remember when you could play 1 on 1 pirates and get credits from the AI Bot ships x] ( you also got invisible magic :] )

one of my friends complained to a host about the lag it's causing
and she's like "No, it's supposed to stop lag"
so my friend was like "It's causing it for me"
and all the host said was "Meh"

I definately miss how VMK used to be. I know I must have said this over a million times now, but it just seemed a lot more magical back when it first opened in 2005. It gave you the feeling of actually being in one of the Disney parks, which I really loved about it.

Staff have said it is a new loading feature. It was pure co-incidence that it came out 1st of the month. It is here to stay just like the blue boxes for the room load :(

I have been on VMK since the day it started my mom went on a Disney forum and everyone was talking about this ( new ) game called VMK so the day it opened me and my best friend decided to try it obviously we loved it! The only thing I like about the (new) VMK so to speak is the decorations for the holidays! But other than that the new one is not to fun according to most people including me I know alot of people disagree with me probably but this is how I feel about it the swirly body thing is getting on my last nerve first of all!!!!!!!! i totally agree. VMK crashes a lot now. the new shopping referrence is cool but it takes a while to load, the loading bodies i SUPER slow. FIREWORKS crashes everytime i play. vmk isnt the same anymore. the only thing i like new, is the inventory box. so sad.

i dont like the new catlog it takes to long to load/ look at everything, i do miss the old vmk homepage and the frequent updates from yavn, i would like to see a podcast from yavn or the vmk team i also would like to know what yavn thinks of the new updates

there is alot more scams now, which I find very annoying. Sure the new stuff is cool and all, but a new set of things comes with a new set of problems. Alot of the people that were on before aren't on now. Plus, there were times where you could go to Yavan's room. And now there are not only vmk staff but hosts and other things like that. And I don't like how now everything is like, a zillion credits. Now I can't afford any of the new stuff! Also, my firend said that for like 2 weeks whenever she went of the monorail she crashed. Vmk is good but they didn't have to change it COMPLETELY.

The inventory is harder for me! And so is the shop! It confuses and messes with my mind! The swirly things as people's bodies is annoying it takes me so long! I used to log in, in 12 seconds but now it takes really long, well maybe a minute..

If you were here about a year ago on vmk, you would know about the spell room and everything in which they got rid of. Just like the old pirates!

i do miss the old fireworks it was easier to get the tomorrowland magic!

Like someone mentioned before, a new wave of VMK players has come; and they seem to be liking this. I personally, am not one.

I appriciate staff trying to improve the game, but in my opinion, it slows everything down. I'm at the point where I don't purchase stuff anymore, but I go on to hang out and stuff.

I came in summer 2005, and VMK sure has had a lot of changes!

Vmk have adding in loading screens and "cyclones" to make the game seem more proffetional and has turned out for the worst! We will just have to live with this due to the fact many changes we dont like, just like this will happen!

i agree with everyone. old vmk was a lot better.
but the only thing about now that is good is the fact it's easier to get more credits faster but beacuse of that. everyone is buying the "new" items in bulk so the item are easier to get.

everyone has their points in why the new/old vmk was good. why cant we have something in the middle?!

The old vmk was definatley better. I would rather wait 2 minutes fo rthe game to load and ahve a fast experiance than a 20 second load and have a slow gaming experiance.

Besides the quest, tomarrowland and fronteerland(sp?) I want the old VMK back. I'd protest, but it wouldn't make a difference if one of the thousands of vmk players didn't play for a while. :42:

Oh, I just remembered: There were tons of times when they would put all the costumes out on sale for like a month and a half. When was the last time they did that?

When VMK opened, I hadn't paid a visit to the parks for a few years; so VMK was WDW convienently from the computer desk ;)

Hmm..but didnt they sell cowboy and bat every year?Idk but i was only a vmk member since 2006.I do know that last year they sold those items.But i dont remember if they sold superhero last year.

I am a little torn on this subject. I like the changes they've made to the inventory, much easier on a person like me who has alot of stuff to find what they're looking for faster. I like how all the items that are the same are piled in one section. Much easier for me, what would normally take me 5 minutes to look through all my stuff now only takes me less then a few seconds. I do miss the old VMK when the host room prizes were a bit more exciting, like candy cauldron and inferno, then a bat bag. I do miss the weekly updates from Yavn, I know i would have liked to have been informed of the changes that were recently made BEFORE they made them instead of AFTER the fact. I also miss the monthly host pins. They were free and sometimes they were cute and you didn't have to do much to get them. I also miss the host events where they allowed you to come in and sit with them and talk for a while, you could ask them all kinds of questions and just depending on what they were you might get a straight answer. I think what i miss the most is that when Yavn usually talked about something, like tron he talked about it for a few months before it came out the first time, it would usually come out within a month or two. They've been working on Flying Magic Carpet, as well as talking about it, for just a little over 2 years. I think they should be done with the QA testing by now @_@

The VMK team should consider this before they do it. They might be getting a bigger server, but still they don't need to do these changes because of it. Why can't they just leave the things that don't need changing, alone, and what does need changing to be changed for example abc order on your own rooms, I mean, I can't find my rooms, because I know what it's called, but I have too many of them, I lose track. Or to add to shopping, a quantity of how many items you want, so you don't need to keep buying an item one at a time. Or, to put an ignore button in the pirates game, so there's not talking, bc, it blocks view of items, and where're the enemy is, and it's hard not to read them when they are on your ship. I appreciate that they are trying to make VMK a better place for all, but it doesn't seem that people are liking the new changes, and not just me.

If some staff sees this, please consider the post people have said here, with your team.

Agreed! You said everything like you were reading my mind. They try to make VMK faster and funner. But they are actually making it slower. We have more lag and its getting boring. What happened to giving out inferno? That was awesome times. I never actually one those games. So I never got inferno. All these new people are coming. They don't even get a chance to get inferno.

Its kinda funny to me when I just started browsing this forum, and by the "old VMK" people meant pre-cyclone bodies or pre-really slow inventory. When I first saw the topic, I was picturing more of a September 2005 era. I miss those times. Honestly, after the first year, I realized what VMK was doing...its trying to be commercialized. In my opinion, the magic of VMK was the fact that around 500 people would be on at a time, not 4,000. Its also very strange in my opinion that they completely took out the quests. Although I never did one of the in park quests, I felt like it really connected the parks to VMK.

I also find it very annoying, more like infuriating that yavn doesn't post on his columns for literally a month at a time. Honestly, would it be that hard for him to write SOMETHING once a week...I mean really, it doesn't have to talk about anything thats going to be released. When he does decide to actually do this once every blue moon, he is always eluding to something and then says check back next week. Well, I do, and once again there is nothing new. I feel like VMK peaked very fast, and now it is having trouble keeping up.

I miss the days when things weren't so competitive, HOSTs were no different than other staff. Events weren't scheduled. You would just drop by into Phinny's room and hopefully she was playing Disney or VMK trivia. Those are the golden days of VMK. Mostly everyone was considerate and polite, scamming hardly existed. Infernos were cool and given out randomly. Now, VMK is basically encouraging wide spread competition. I am not against competition, to me its just not what VMK should be about. Dreams Month is a perfect example. It was totally unfair, and people started to "hoard" their prizes. Then they are tradeable and everyone goes crazy. I feel like nothing that was worth something has value now. Everyone just wants sparrow parts, and the people who have the high beta (and by beta I don't mean magenta rocket couches. It really bothers me when people try and tell me that things that are buyable are beta) want ridiculous amounts of things in return like 5 infernos.

This is getting a little lengthy, but to those of you who were not around before 2006, don't really understand what the "old VMK" means, and I really wish that this wasn't true because the "old VMK" was a place that I would want to log on to everyday, not just once a month.

I think they took out the quests because they didn't need them anymore. They put VMK Central there to make VMK more popular, it was just advertisement. Now that VMK has ALOT of people, they took them away. But that's just a guess.

Maybe you have not noticed, it may have been more fun earlier on because you appreciated more of VMK than you do now.

I'd like to point out the only thing that has changed in VMK are the players (and of course some of the features, but that's beside the point).

One thing that really got me upset is when people started complaining about the release of the Green Flip Hat! I could not believe it! How can people be so selfish? I can understand that if you traded a lot for something, and for it to be released the next day would be a big pocket burn. But that does not give you an excuse act foolish.

Another thing I have to say is some of the comments that were made about dream month in VMK. I saw some people complaining about not getting "enough." There are some people that didn't get anything at all. I, until this day, still have not gotten anything but that does not change my attitude since before Dream month. My point is that complaining does not get you anywhere. People need to appreciate what life gives them, we are even lucky that VMK is still open. It has stayed open longer than planned, and do you think complaining is going to maintain that?

VMK is what you make of it.
Nothing has really changed but your attitude towards the game.
It's still free - It's still a challenge to aquire items to build rooms or make trades.
Still a meeting place to accept new people and see old friends.
If it has changed in your mind..

The connecting to server and the additional items screen are annoying. Idk why VMK put that it, maybe to make it look cooler? I think it only causes more lag. I don't like the swirling bodies and the green loading square either. It does cause more lag and it was cool at first, like you said, but now it's more annoying. I miss the old VMK, because it felt like yavn was still with us, and updating the newsletter every week. Now it feels like he's gone and we won't be getting any new news. The features VMK has added annoy me too. You're not alone.

I don't like or dislike the "new" vmk as you say but i agree with a lot of people on it vmk should really should listen more to the people and have trial sessions with the new layouts of things and then we vote,much more fair.With the crashing thing i think its because of they the things they make us load!Its insane do they do that because they want to show we have more features!?I'm upset with the released thing too but we have to deal with it i guess.Nobody gets upset when they release things for Halloween but otherwise no.I just think vmk should listem too us more they ban people so much its like they want to go to beta[i heard everyone was great and nice]It seems like vmk is all about trying to get kids on vmk so they can tell there parents how cool WDL or WDW is.

The old vmk. I miss when nobody cared for what you wore, you usually bumped into the same person because it wasn't crowded then, and other stuff. I remember me and a few fellow vmkers gathered around by the place where that cart was (I forget) and we said "Hey! We got an award day 1 pin!" Plus i hate the cyclone too. When i got on after awhile I was all, "Why the heck is there a hurricane around me?"

Yes I miss the old VMK, espically getting weekly updates from Yavn.. and Host pins when you won in the host room..

I kinda miss it when there was no vmk pass (although i like that one), no clear room button, no "allow guest to move this item" button... etc.

I like the old VMK SO much more! They went too far when they changed how to buy stuff, they made it too complicated.

It was easy before, why change stuff that was easy. Also, the swirling people, what's the point, the boxes, what's the point.
Staff think they're improving vmk by doing that.. because back then, when the room is loading, it loads the furnish too. But staff made it that furnish loads when you come in... so there would be a shorter room load. I'd rather wait for the room to load than see clear blue boxes o_o
The same for the cyclones... o_o I'd rather wait it load, then enter a room full of lag. If they wanted to do that, they should have put something that wasn't moving o_o the lag is really bad.

It doesn't look good, it's really quite annoying. Also, the inventory change. That was ok, but they should have kept it where it didn't need to load for 5 minutes before you can see your items.
YEAH... once again, so it's when you start going in vmk, it loads it later on when you need it... which makes the load going into vmk shorter. Once again, I would rather wait for everything to load, rather than wait 10 minutes for my just my clothes/furnish to load...


Why couldn't they have them grouped, but in one big list going down. Same with the changing your clothing. I have to wait 7 minutes to change clothing, because I have a lot of it, not really a helpful change really lol.

The showing of items and not bringing them out for a long time or not yet or ever, is really annoying like Flying Carpet Magic, it's been a bit over 2 years, why can't they say when it'll be out, or it won't be out. The VMK team should consider this before they do it. They might be getting a bigger server, but still they don't need to do these changes because of it.

Why can't they just leave the things that don't need changing, alone, and what does need changing to be changed for example abc order on your own rooms, I mean, I can't find my rooms, because I know what it's called, but I have too many of them, I lose track. Or to add to shopping, a quantity of how many items you want, so you don't need to keep buying an item one at a time. Or, to put an ignore button in the pirates game, so there's not talking, bc, it blocks view of items, and where're the enemy is, and it's hard not to read them when they are on your ship. If we could use an ignore button we wouldn't see it. What drives me crazy is not being able to turn off friend requests.

When I was a Community Leader (CL_) (and lost it when everybody else did), I was asked at least 150 friend requests a day. I gave the idea to HOST_Lily about turning them off she said that they have mentioned this to the people who do this stuff, and nothing has happened yet. You would think staff wouldn't have friend requests on, but they have no choice, yet. I've given these ideas, and more to them, and I know other people have, but they haven't done anything about them, they change stuff people were just fine with, and made them more annoying.

Agreed. I would rather wait then have all these things making more lag. And I can never change anymore. It takes forever for it to come up. And I wish you can just put in how many you want to buy, and it buys that. Cause I hate sitting there and clicking buy over and over and OVER!

The swirly cyclone thing around your body is only because of Halloween. I think they will take it away as soon as the month is over. And about the flip hat and pan hat. If you are moody about trading something for flip and finding that it is worthless, it's your fault for trading it in the first place. We all know VMK is re releasing, so be more careful.

I actually wish they didnt put that "connecting to server" and "additional items" screen thing!I also dont like the swirl thing under ppls body when they load.At first i thought it was funny but now it just gives me more lag.

Beta was the best. But everything has to develop/grow sometime; we can't help it. It's the way life is. If VMK stayed the same for however many years, we'd be begging for new updates. That's what we got, and now we wish that everything was like it used to be. I don't think we know how to appreciate things.

I miss it too. The old way VMK used to load was so much faster. Now I have to wait 3 minutes just to get my clothing screen to come up so I can change my clothes. I've tried to clear out my inventory in furnishing because it takes FOREVER for it to load. I think that the blue swirly thing that appears when you enter VMK makes the game even slower. And sad to say, I liked VMK better when I crashed every hour. Still, I like how it organizes the 103 pirates posters I have (and can't sell), and my pins. But furnishing and clothing takes forever on my computer!

Yea, the other day I was talking with my dad and I said I feel like yavn, the creater of VMK has quit or something. But I realized.. YAVN IS ON TRIPS. He is at WDW and DLR. And all those other places. So I hope when he comes back, everything will be back to normal.

The only reason why people were nice in beta is because nobody knew about all the mean things they could do. Also, because they didn't know what rare was. Everything that is rare now was poor in beta because it was all on sale.

I hate all of the new stuff except for the numbered inventory. i hate the pages thing its really annoying All the new loading things that are suppose to make vmk faster has just slowed it waaay down >_< New Orleans square is just ridicules it has 4 rooms. just 4. and one of them exited before!

I think that everything should be sold all of the time except certain holiday items and that there should be no rare or poor people. The producers made stuff "rare" to make it special, but it just makes people mean and spiteful.

I really miss the old VMK. That is one of the reasons why I'm not playing as much as I used to. Sure the old loading method took longer, for some...not me. It was FASTER. That's not the only feature that I don't like. I don't like any of the new ones...not even the new lands. Sometimes I wonder if I don't miss the DC bug... It takes me about 5 times longer to enter a room than it did to open VMK to begin with, using the old loading method.

but also remember back last summer when you dc'ed ever half hour exactly. Like i would be "and i will dc...about now" and in the next few minutes i was dc. When they got rid of that it made everything slower but it was good. I dont even see the point of these new loading things!!

I totally agree......the old VMK was much better. We were all j ust making friends and chatting...we never thought it would come to a game where people just got mad at you in games and do "inappropriate" things.

I have been a member of VMK since, like, a month after it opened. It was cool back then, but now it's changed.

The swirling body thing seemed to have gotten better over the months but now has returned. It seems like each time something new is added the problems return.
