I got an email a few minutes ago about becoming a POTC Online founder; but a fee is involved. I'm confused if the monthly fee is to be a founder or if the monthly fee is to play?

Pre-Order Unlimited Access to Pirates of the Caribbean Online and become an official member of an elite crew of founding pirates.

Pre-order now and receive:
50% off your first month, that's only
$4.95, and $9.95 each additional month*
A limited edition certified cloth map
An exclusive Founder title for every pirate
on your account.

With Unlimited Access you get loads of members-only benefits including:
Unlock advanced weapons and skills
Captain bigger and better ships
Create and lead your own Pirate Guild
Embark on expanded quests
Engage in expanded PVP combat
Receive an exclusive crew kit in the mail

Be among the first to set sail through the treacherous waters of the Caribbean! Don't delay, because like unguarded treasure in a room full of freebooting buccaneers, this offer won't last long!

I got the same E-mail, I thought it was going to be free. I guess I was wrong.

Hmm.. I think disney should lay off all the expensive Games.

I heard somewhere else that you'd be able to play for free but you won't have unlimited access and you'll have adds everywhere..
I like this game very much but I don't know if I'll pay for it.

Right now, it says I have unlimited access, but I don't think I would pay to play.

Does Disney need that much more money? :confused:Yeah I see how the creators & producers need to be paid, but still...

I believe there will be 2 versions of the game. One version that will be free you will have limited access and will feature ads. The limited version will I believe limit you from going to certain Islands and you wont be able to level up as high as other players that pay. The other version you will have unlimited access to the game and will not have ads but you will have to pay the $9.95 every month.

I really like this game I have the beta key to play however I don't know if I play enough for me to pay and for it to be worth it. I will probably just play on the free version. To answer your question about disney needing money every company is out to make money disney is no different ;) Just be glad you only have to pay $9.95 unlike World of Warcraft that is like $16.00 per month.

They have stated a long time ago that it's going to be a pay to play game.

There are 2 versions though. But I'm for sure getting the pay to play version.

So everyone thinks it will be like Toontown, You can get in for free but if you want to do other things you have to pay for it. I'm so glad VMK is free.
