The Little Bit Of Info I Do Have Above Is Provided From A Disney Fan Site, But A Few Weeks Back, Means They Could Have Gotten A Lot Done. They Send Representatives To The Parks Every Week, But They Could Be Wrong!

I Can Send You A Link If You Wish.

someone went there the opening night and said it was extremely good. The food had really large portions, and there is a really cool story line that goes with it. there wa a rich man who live by everest with a large house. He lost his money and he decided to open a restaraunt for the tourists, so he tore down all the walls, which you can tell because the carpet could suddenly go to tile and so on. I am going soon so I can find out for myself. :)

I ate there a few weeks ago. It has very good looks. The food.. well you got to like that type of food. ;) The service? Horrible! It was mainly our waiter since everyone else around was getting their server constantly. Our server took our oders, filled drinks once, then gave us the check. 3 times? Not that great. Anyways I would give it a B-

Obviously Slinkyman's waiter was not helpful. That's enough to give the place a D instead of a B-.

Hmm... there are a few bad waiters I'm sure, but hopefully you'll get a good one next time!

I know what you feel like, one time at a local resteraunt we waited 3 hours to get our food only to find out that it had been sitting in the kitchen for that whole time. Our waiter was horrible and we never went there again, b/c the waiter gave us a bad impression.

GreatGatsby

There has been a question raised about how a single waiter can ruin an experience dining out.

For those who do not understand the workings of a restaurant, the main components are the menus, manager, waiters, and cooks. Some have chefs, but that's part and parcel with the menu, since I'm defining menu as the food itself. I'm excluding theme and atmosphere, as they usually only bring people in once.

If any one of those components fails at some point, the customer's visit is ruined. If the manager fails, the restaurant runs poorly. If the menu fails, the food stinks and people stop going. If the cooks fail, the menu fails, and the same thing occurs. If a waiter, or the entire wait staff, fails, one of more customers will overlook the food and never come back.

In the case of slinkyman, a waiter was poor at his job. Although the food was good, the experience with this server will make them think twice about eating there again. Not good in the restaurant world.

The proper thing to do is to call the manager and let him/her know about the waiter. The buck stops with the manager, and if one of his/her waiters is falling down on the job, that manager must take disciplinary action immediately.

Problem is, few customers tell the manager of these kinds of problems. They just simply don't return.

In the case of slinkyman, it's obvious the waiter did not pay attention to the diners - only appearing a couple of times. I read into this that drinks were not refilled, the meals were slow in coming, and at no time were they asked (as they should be, often) if everything was all right. slinkyman can correct me if I'm wrong.

This can be two things. Either the restaurant was short-staffed, which is the manager's fault, or the waiter was bad/lazy/incompenent/etc. In any case, this situation can, and usually will, damage the experience. Two months ago, I walked out of a restaurant for this very reason . . . but I made sure to tell the manager exactly why I was leaving and why I would never return.

Exactly. I gave it a B- because I can't let a bad waiter destroy my entire visit there.
As I asked before how were they not helpful?
This is what he didn't do-

We waited for a while to get our drinks refiled once.
We had to ask for desert while he came to pick up dirty dishes - he didn't come to ask us what we wanted.
He never asked us how our meal was.
Didn't seem happy/joyous to be there at all.

This is what he did-
Took our meal order.
Filled drinks once.
Grabbed dirty dishes once.
Came running over once we had that check filled out and there was a tip waiting for him (which wasn't much).

^Obviously he wanted money and that is it.

I'll have to stop by when I go back to WDW! Sounds really cool. Hopefully only that waiter was bad, because what is good food without good service?
Only the waiter was bad. Food was great and the surroundings are awesome. There is a second floor to the building too. Really makes you feel like you're in Asia.

"bad/lazy/incompetent/etc" That is how I would describe him. Maybe he was just having a bad day? I am not sure. We did let the manager know for sure. Great thing they have those name badges. ;)

Once I get back from dinner I can see if I have any in our photos. I know we took some.

The place is massive! It has the full sit down dinning area, huge counter service area, huge dinning area, restrooms on the back, and it's own mini gift shop!

The decor look interesting. If you have more of the main dining area, I'd like to see it.

The tabling looks oddly out of place though. I understood it to be a sit-down, but the tables all appear to be buffeteria/fast food type of tables. And I can't say I care much for the chairs. How comfortable were they?

Thanks that makes more sense, unfortanately thats how most teenagers act. Thats why I like to have the older people who have been at the park longer they are much nicer and give you some nice tips about the park. Nice pictures I cant wait until I go. Oh and soon you have to tip either a 15% or 20% percent tip automatically goes on the check. If you think it should be lower or higher you can talk to your waitor.

I went their yesterday it was pretty good. We got their about 25-30 minutes early because of how long it takes disney to seat you if it is busy and normally your get seated faster. We got seated in about five minutes, which gave us some time to take a few pictures. Then they took us up to the second floor in the elevator. And they instantly took our order, they persuaded us to order an appetizer(fried green beans), which was delicious. After we ordered our entree' we got it in about 15 minutes we got our food. Which was good, but if your a picky eater like my brother you probally wouldn't like it. They refilled our drinks often and were very polite. You also get an extra 10% off your entree' if you have an annual pass. The only other thing that may bother you because it may not have the "disney magic".
Yak and yetis is not owned by disney...

Its definitely one of a kind, even though it's not owned by disney. It looks very old even though it was just built, their are tons of yeti statues, and I don't really know how to describe it. their are some pics earlier in the thread so you can see what is looks like and others have described it better. It definitely feels like a disney restaraunt.
