View Full Version : Your opinions on the new changes.
BrookStar 10-03-2007, 07:54 PM Ok, alot of you have probably noticed all the new changes that were made in vmk. If you havent realized what all of the changes are read this thread:http://www.vmkforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=129137
I was wondering how you guys felt about the changes, do you like them or dont you?
I dont mind some of them but theirs others that I cant stand. For example I dont like the way the new inventory works, how you have to keep clicking on the arrow to move to the next page, it takes to long to load. On the plus side its not so crowded and when you have more then one item it says how many are in there. Also, I hate how when you enter a room people have those blue swirls around them, that creates alot of lag for me.
Twisty 10-03-2007, 08:07 PM I do not like that you can't open the messanger from the Main Map. Also, I can't get onto VMK because of all the changes. =/
Ammie 10-03-2007, 08:10 PM I strongly dislike the new inventory. 18 pages of furniture, it was fine before. 28 pages of clothing. Having to wait for the pages to load? They take a long time. I only like the how many items you have feature out of the inventory changes.
Whipstersh 10-03-2007, 08:45 PM I really enjoy these new designs. They are making everything easier/more enjoyable in my experience.
JazzyJelly 10-04-2007, 12:09 PM I am neutral so far, although they don't seem to do much for me. I somewhat like the displaying one pin when you have twelve thing (in the inventory window).
What I HATE is messages immediately popping up. It jammed me up in the host game as I couldn't get rid of the black window which remained and I could not complete the host game :( despite waiting to enter the room for over an hour.
chaosinmotion 10-04-2007, 08:33 PM I hate the inventory and shop windows. Takes forever to load and then I crash. Haven't had a decent game day / experience since it was implemented.
Jezibabe 10-04-2007, 08:42 PM I like the fact you only have to see one of the same item instead of 2 or more, but I really dislike the new loading features for the inventory, change clothing and the spinning when you enter a room. This is causing serious lag on my computer and from what I can tell, others too. It is the blue boxes syndrome again :(
zangoose 10-04-2007, 08:43 PM ARRRGGG i hate the new loading thing. I cant change my clothing and i always appear as a floating head with a swirling mist below me so my clothing never loads.
Penguinz 10-04-2007, 10:31 PM I haven't really tired any of them out. At first, I was shocked. They looks amazing. But now when I think about it, they look sort of useless and time wasting.
I can't really judge, though.
Tokrok 10-04-2007, 10:38 PM I strongly dislike the new inventory. 18 pages of furniture, it was fine before. 28 pages of clothing. Having to wait for the pages to load? They take a long time. I only like the how many items you have feature out of the inventory changes.
I agree completely
What I HATE is messages immediately popping up. It jammed me up in the host game as I couldn't get rid of the black window which remained and I could not complete the host game :( despite waiting to enter the room for over an hour.
Yea it happed to me in the middle of a pirates game!!
saturn 10-04-2007, 11:23 PM i enjoy the idea of having the number of pins you own there - i GREATLY dislike the pages i have to scroll through to get to them.
and the blue swirly things are messing me up - a lot! of lag and i dont understand their point. LOL. the amout of lag i'm getting now from people not loading is absurd.
i, too, greatly dislike the message pop-ups. what an annoyance!
overall, i find the ideas great - but the methods poor.
VMKmaniacforever2007 10-04-2007, 11:24 PM It takes real long to load.GIrls dont get anything new.
Penguinz 10-05-2007, 02:51 PM I am trying to look at my clothing panel. It's not working, slow loading.
GoofyGeggy 10-05-2007, 03:05 PM Change, good. Stagnation, bad.
GraspingClaw 10-05-2007, 06:16 PM Personally, I don't understand the fuss over having to click through pages. It certainly isn't that difficult and makes things separated and much easier to look at as opposed to trying to scroll through a huge inventory. I love the new system because it has finally eliminated a big source of lag for me! I am a hardcore pin collector and have 15 or more of many of the pins, so this was understandably slowing down my game any time I opened the inventory. Not only that, but trading was an absolute joke. Often times a trade would result in a complete freeze, requiring me to restar. At the very least I would always get trade lag and it would take a couple of minutes and multiple clicks of the "Accept" button before it would finally go through and allow me to exit.
Adding and removing pins to my lanyard has become much faster as well; the slow process before was annoying enough that I dreaded changing them all out. Now it's quick and simple.
Not to mention you don't have to take up space in your many extra Skull Rock rooms to house your furniture items and posters. Now you can take everything with you and not have to worry about it effecting your speed. This makes decorating and designing much easier when you have everything at your fingertips instead of having to scrounge around for certain items in random guest rooms. It's also beneficial when entering into an unexpected trade.
I know there have been some bugs out there, but if you notice, VMK is already working to fix those. For example, the inability to view your Message/Buddy List from the Map view has been fixed. You can now pull it up where ever you are. I haven't gotten confirmation that the Message Pop-up bug (the one that has messed up more than a few games of Pirates for me) has been fixed, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was included as part of the Map fix.
I know the clothes-loading cyclones (or "cyclothes", if you will) and loading boxes can get a little tiresome, but for me it usually just means having to see them once, and after everything has loaded the game is as quick if not quicker than it was before. As someone who is critical of VMK because I want it to be the best that it can, I feel it's equally important to give credit where credit is due; and these recent changes to the inventory system have made the game a much better and more enjoyable place for me.
sunnyskye 10-05-2007, 06:28 PM Stagnation?
Anyways, I like the new changes! It will take some getting used to, but remember what happened with the 8 pin change? Now we forgot what it was like to only be able to wear 8 pins!
cteddiesgirl 10-05-2007, 07:04 PM I like how the inventory is basically stacked. That is really nice.
I don't really care for the pages either.
They do take forever to load.
I really liked the scrolling down in the inventory. Especially with clothing.
Now you can have parts of costumes on different pages. So you have to remember how many of one item you have before going to the next page to see the rest of the costume.
The swirling doesn't really bother me much. It just takes getting used to seeing it.
I'm hoping the bugs they get worked out soon. :)

Actually, for someone who has to keep cleaning out their temp files, this doesn't really help.
GryfindorGal 10-06-2007, 01:08 AM I don't like the changes. The pages instead of scrolling annoy me. Right now, I have 24 pages of clothing. It takes me forever to find anything! The #'s are nice... but that's the only thing I'm liking so far.
Mooshu 10-06-2007, 03:17 AM I do not like how it takes forever to load for the shops special sells.. i'm impatient.
I also dislike how it takes forever to open your clothing and it takes FOREVER to load and then, sometimes it doesn't even load.
Come back, regular, simple inventory and clothing!
:please: PLEASE!

I have bolded the part that struck me - all I can say is LUCKY YOU!! I see that in every room I go to. Obviously the first time is the longest (anywhere from 1 minute to 15 minutes), but I still get it every room thereafter. I am getting tired of having to wait for my inventory to load (and when I want to change clothes). Heres hoping they get that fixed soon too. I am also having to delete cookies and disc clean every couple of hours instead of every couple of days because of all this lag/crashing. :(
However, I am glad the trading lag has been fixed for others, as I know it has affected a lot of people.
Orangemarker 10-06-2007, 11:57 AM I have to say I'm not enjoying those evil loading boxes that never go away. They annoy me to no end. Oh, and the little cyclpne people that never gp away, those are kinda cool, though.
I can say that I really love one thing. The music on Main Street.
PrincessTmkttt 10-06-2007, 12:17 PM Everytime I go to change, I get DC. >__<!
ArgoGreenDragon 10-06-2007, 01:16 PM Furniture and clothing takes way too long to load. It's getting annoying now :23:
GoodPolarGirl 10-06-2007, 01:51 PM I kinda like the new changes, i just hate how much more lag it is causing :(
Friez 10-08-2007, 05:07 PM I'm not so big on the new changes. They make loading go a lot slower. It took around ten seconds to load my furnish when the old one took about two. The clothes loading makes it look like the person is getting turned into a tornado!
RockieRoad 10-08-2007, 05:39 PM :41:
I really hate the cyclones or cyclothes or whatever.
They are just so annoying!

MsBored 10-08-2007, 05:46 PM I don't like changing the pages, I get super confused when it says how many copies of this item I have, the shopping,? well its way harder with the sections, and the loading box when I want to change takes me like 45 seconds! (with high speed internet!) I got more lag now, and the thing I hate most is the how many copies of the item I have! It messes with my head.
disdreamer 10-08-2007, 08:31 PM I like the change!! With the inventory you now know how many of each item you have without having to count!!

- very long! Lol
I really do like the new shops or inventory if you will, but the cyclones do bug me but at least apprecate what Yavn and the VMK team has done for us. This is a quicker way for the progam to load. But well we will get over the cyclones. Happy Halloween!:11:

Is it actually quicker? It seems like it takes me about as long to log in now as it always has.
And is it better to take the time while I'm trying to play the game instead of logging in? At login, I can start the login and walk away for a little bit. Trying to enter a room (or trying to trade something) it takes actual time away from me talking or playing.
monkeyfunkychunky 10-08-2007, 09:13 PM I like most of them, but some of them I didn't care for.
When I first entered in October (the cyclones) I was thinking that there was some new magic on sale.
poloshia 10-17-2007, 04:02 AM I have to say that the new inventory set up is a bit confusing and frustrating at times but trust me you will get used to it. But the thing i hate is that they don't tell you if you won a quest anymore, they just give you the items if you won them without giving you a message.
AvasteDragon 10-17-2007, 08:35 PM Hmm, I like how it tells you how many you have of a particular item. However, I dislike the clothing catalog.

I agree, It has even lagged for me.
