Several people have informed me that someone else has been using my VMKForums name on other discussion forums, some of them of ill-repute. While there is nothing I can do to prevent this (and I can't even prove that I am the "original" MrGenie on the Internet), I wanted to make this thread to clear up this misunderstanding.

There are only two online discussion forums where I use the "MrGenie" title: this forum and DIS (where I have never posted). If you see a "MrGenie" on any other discussion forum or game, that is not me. Simple, huh?

For those of you inclined to use "my" title on other forums, let me just say this: I'm perfectly capable of dragging my own name through the mud, and I don't need any help from you. I would encourage you to come up with an original name, but to each his own.

I can't believe I was misleaded by that user on that site. It was very confusing for me and I was a bit afraid. This post you have made is super necessary, people that might be thinking what I thought before will have their doubts cleared. Wonder why people do this? You know who you are, why do you do it? It doesn't make you smarter at all... MrGenie is only 1, he is smarter than you, you can realize he is smarter than you because you wouldn't be copying him if you thought you are smarter than him. Think it twice ;)

On the same topic, at another site I frequent we had the VMK member come over and register as.. Yavn. I gave the name total respect untill it started to beg me for fireworks, even then I still treated it as Yavn.. It took some of my friends from that forum to call him out to where he confessed.

he has no problem lying to you, and will annoy the :wave2: out of you.

After we called him out.. he still had the nerve to still ask for fireworks. LOL Sometimes I love being good at that game lol omg omg.

And one MrGenie is more than enough . . .

AMEN! ;)

I feel really strongly about this entire "identity theft" thing. It's scary in the fact that people are imitating you...but scarier that they may be doing it to tarnish and/or destroy your reputation. And we've all found that words hurt hard. I just keep remembering the incident with a player who decided to make a new account called CDShorts...and how it completely went out of control.

If anyone here is using that MrGenie alias on other site...you should be feeling lots of shame right now. Liking and admiring someone is one thing...but stealing their identity is different.
