I took out my Notebook that i had just found in the bus trash can. I know you might think that was dirty, but being the poorest person in my grade, i would so anything and search anywhere for something that LOOKED new.

So sitting in my Dad and mines apartment, i took out my notebook and started writing and drawing. My dad wasn't home yet, but i knew were he was. He was trying to beg people at the welfair department to lend us some money, But they kept saying that we had millions in our bank. I didnt know what all this meant. I mean i was only in fourth grade. I went to the school called Strawstech (Str-Aw-ss-Teh-Kaa) Academy. It had the name "Straws" in it because the person who invented Straws made that school. I thought it was all Weird o_o...
Just then I heard a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" I asked, while putting my pencil and neon green notebook down.
The doorknob started to open, i paniced. I ran into the Kitchen and grapped a knife. I knew that whoever was coming in would shorely not expect for me to have a pointy knife.
The door started to open. As the person stepped in I Started hutling twords the door..

i like the way you used suspense to want us to keep reading!
very good story so far, but my tips to you are:
dont rush the story too much, i felt a little rushed, when your charcter heard the door opening. Add lots of details of exactly what was going on, like
" i tip-toed over next to the door, sweat dripping from my forhead, from being nervous. i waited there, unawhere of what would happen next"

Chapter 2: All about Me


The door open, and it was a tall brown haired man with a sweater and Jeans on.
CRASH!! The lights went off. I paniced, who was the man thats was coming in our hose, and why is he speechless? I look at my knife, not knowing what to do. What!? I looked back at the knife, it was plastic! Omg i though. I must have grabbed a plastic knife instead of a real one. My hope fell. Now i had nothing to protect me.
"Son you there?" It was my dad! I cant beleive i didnt recognize his brown frizzy hair.
"Yea, I'm here." I said, " I was just a little shocked by the lightning," which i wasn't of corse, but how would you explain to your parents that you were waiting to jump on them, because you thought they were a robber.
"Hey Terrance, why are you holding a plastic knife?" my dad, Paul, asked.
"I was making a sandwich?"
