Well, ever since we started our computer from scratch. The volume hasn't worked. Any way to fix this?

Did you install all of your drivers?

What sound card do you have?

My cousin is having the same problem. I'm guessing it's the Sound Card. Not quite sure how to reinstall it though. Know how to Gator?

Either you answer the question that gatorgreen said or go to accessories and then entertaiment and then volume control and then change them. Its know to change randomly.

Try opening your volume mixer. The volume may be turned low, it has happened to me before. It should look something like the attached image.

I think that image just follows what up on what i said... Just an image to represent it.. Find a XP volume control, just incase they dont have vista..

Just have to say you dont have many sound outputs do you...

I have a ton, but I only had a few windows open so those were the only ones I could change the sounds of.

Edit: In reply, it's not basic. It has a 2 duo processor...and the volume mixer only lets you adjust the sounds of the windows you have up. I only had three windows up, so those were the only volumes I was enabled to adjust at the moment.

I had this problem I when I installed a new hard drive. A CD came with the motherboard I purchased earlier that I had to stick in the computer in order to make the volume work ;) Ehh.. a driver maybe?

I've got Basic on mine as well. I'm not satisfied with Vista...period. And my parents won't let me put XP back on this computer :(. I've usually got about 30-40 windows open. :D

And, I would try to download the drivers for your sound card.
