Wanna know why? I'll tell ya why! BECAUSE SOME CHEAP OL' GUEST STOLE AN ANIMATION DESK FROM ME! YEAH, STOLE!!Here's the story..

Guest walks into room
Guest asks to trade
Guest:Hi can you put this in room so I can sit down?
Me: (trying to be nice to guest) Sure!
Guest: (Puts in red pilhar magic chair)
Me: Okay
(exits trade)
(puts chair in room)
Then while I trade with someone else, the guest moves the chair onto the pirate wall surrounding my kiosk, puts the chair next to it, and takes my animation desk.

I sent in numerous complaints in the contact us button about this. And the thing is IT WASNT MY FAULT! So please don't reply and say: You made the trade it's your responsibility to keep your kiosk safe. - Breathes deeply - Okay sorry about that...I just don't want to be blamed for something that entirely wasn't my fault... :( I just wanna quit vmk now, It's the first time I've been scammed and It hurts...It really hurts...
I bet vmk won't do anything about it either...

Oh and i'm sorry if this is in wrong place, I just saw scam stuff in here so I posted it..

That was one smart guest!

Anyway, it wasn't entirely your fault, because that was a new move scamemrs pulled. But, you shouldn't have put the chair down.

It's an animators desk. I give lots of quest out about every day through my quest, and I give white snowman to people for free. Don't worry.

I think that if you have your quest there, you should probably consider turning it off. OR... use something that wont let anyone put something on top. On second thought, don't let people give you items to place in your room, lol.

omg, I really don't know this scam technique..
he gave a movable chair and the guest puted it above the desk and that was the way he took the desk away?
Sorry if I don't understand, you know my English is not that good

punkpat
09-05-2007, 09:32 PM
i do not get it moveable does not mean you can take it away and if you put it next to a kiosk it does not just go in it

Pb2Au
09-05-2007, 09:46 PM
She meant that she placed a moveable chair down, which allowed the guest to get over a wall she made protecting her quest kiosk.

MyBirdHat
09-05-2007, 10:12 PM
OK LISTEN! there were pirate walls surrounding the kiosk so no one could get in. he gave me the chair which he made MOVEABLE before the trade, he put it on a pirate wall, sat in it, then moved it into kiosk area, sat on it again, and played it.

My sister saw a girl that did that today in a trade room:

This girl traded with the owner of the room, sat in a chair that was suddenly placed in the room, and another girl, (which I'm assuming it's her friend), traded with the owner, she quickly put the chair up on the crate, did the quest and ran away, or she got booted. I'm not sure, but I know the name of the victim, ask him if you'd like or ask me what his name was. I know both of the scammers names as well, but I didn't really know what was happening so I couldn't really help.

Ooh.. somebody just tried to do this to me. Good thing i read this yesterday, and i quickly changed it so nobody could move the chair, not that it would have mattered, made the task to go into a room of mine that is in no way connected.

BaldEagleBob
09-07-2007, 10:23 PM
Why on Earth would someone take somebody else's chairs and put them in their room? I'm sorry, that's just weird. Remember, scammers profit by other's foolishness or ignorance. If somebody asks you you to do something odd...

DON'T DO IT!

I would have it's your fault too.
1.) If they want to sit down, place a chair from your inventory in the room.
2.) If you went to all of the trouble to "surround" your quest machine, just make sure it is turned off.

infamousmangomint
09-08-2007, 01:33 PM
Sheesh, cut the girl some slack. She got scammed, and you are just so indifferent that it makes you look bad. That happened to my friend, which is Encyclopedia's sister. But it didn't work that well, she realized it at the last second. She was trading some good things a couple days ago. Some random player gave her some free stuff, she put it in her room, it turned out to be chairs and carpets that were all movable. My friend, realizing this booted the scammer and sold all the stuff, panicking.

The CHAIR Scam is a classic now:

They set the chair moveable before they trade it. The find a room that has a blocked off quest. Then, when the owner places it in the room, they move it so they can do the quest-BUT the owner has to be trading with someone else. Here's a hint to stop them:If somebody trades you a chair in a room with a quest kiosk blocked off, don't put the chair in there!

i agree that the scammer was probably an experienced player, also
Guest123654(not a real name) is harder to remember than a normal name, so this scammer was very smart if thats wat he wanted to do. u know just so he wouldn't get reported.

Anyway, i feel really bad, oh and it wasnt your fault this is a new technic scammers have come up with. How could u have known.

It's good you posted this, people, be warned! - even though i dont have a kiosk.
I feel so bad for you, and people , give her a break!! Seriously, NOW that it's heard of and you know not to trust people who want to " sit " you think you would never let them do that, but come ON! She had no idea that ppl were that smart. It is not her fault! We just need to be smart about this, and i think she'll learn from this and turn her quests off.

Actually, I think you did "ACCEPT" the trade, twice. This has to be done to get this person's item into your room.

I think we should take this for what it is and learn from it. If someone trades you an item that could potentionally be used to sit or step on (chairs, couches, rugs, ect.) then we need to make sure that the move feature of that item is turned off. That way we don't loose any of our treasured items. Second, if we have a quest machine in our rooms and we are not running an active quest at the moment, then we should make sure that the quest machine is turned off. That way we are not tempting someone else to scam us. :wave2:

Whipstersh
09-10-2007, 09:45 PM
Like goofy said we should all take this experience and learn from it. Bird did accept the trade, so she is still responsible for that matter, but it was still an accident.

I'm with Bird here. The "you accepted the trade" argument isn't valid in this case. That line is for people who accept trades with the promise that they'll get another item later. The request was a strange one, but she really had no reason to think that she was being scammed.

Ditto for 'the kiosk shouldn't have been on'; while I personally would have made the tasks in the kiosk non-guessable just to be on the safe side, turning it off would sort of defeat the purpose of having the items she has for trade in the kiosk to begin with.

I completely sympathize with Bird here; this is a really sneaky scam. Thanks for sharing it here and getting the word out.

We weren't saying that you accepted the trade for the desk. We were saying that you accepted the trade for the chair, which later in turn, you placed not knowing it was moveable. No, you did not know, and alot of people in your situation would have done the same thing.

I was stating that she accepted the trade for the chair, not the table. And yes, it was a strange reason, that doesn't seem harmful. I might have even fell for it. It still falls into the category of "accident" in any perspective.
