Anyone else notice that the Inferno pin is now called Dancing Feet of Fire!

I think that the name 'Inferno' sounds better.

I think that the name 'Inferno' sounds better.I agree. Maybe they were sued for copyright infringement. Or maybe they think kids won't understand the word inferno. Or maybe... I should shut my yap, because I really have no idea.

Oh boy. Maybe inferno is a reference to "you know" and that may be a bannable offense to refer to "you know!" Therefore, we have Dancing Feet of Fire!

I guess I have to change the name of my Inferno Seat (in my Question Game) to the "Seat that is not Cold!"

Well if making a reference to "you know" on VMK is such a bad offense, how do they explain Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, HMMMMM? ;)

And we all KNOW what happened to poor Mr. Toad's Wild Ride in WDW, right?

I would agree with everyone above who thinks that people complained that Inferno referred to that hot place that naughty people go to (like after you get banned for saying 'kid').

However, I also think that Feet of Fire seems to refer to a bad case of athlete's foot.

Perhaps cause they wanted to keep the name different from the activation phrase?

Maybe, but then explain -- according to your theory -- why it's still at Disneyland?

Sorry, tongue in cheek doesn't work well on text forums. No theory -- just a tongue in cheek comment.

I do think that "inferno" may have upset some very devoutly religious people who asked that a game that targeted "vulnerable" age groups should not make light of H*ll.

But, those same people probably don't like the concept of "magic" either in a game (or the Harry Potter "witches"), so I'm surprised Disney would bother.

Whatever... :)

Of course, the activation words "Flame on!" would be awesome!

...if there was no copyright infringement, which there would be. :(

Phrases can't be copyrighted... not that that ever stopped anyone from suing over them anyway! They can be trademarked, though, and I would not be surprised if Marvel has trademarked that phrase. Still, trademark only provides limited protection, and if anyone has deep pockets to defend themselves against a lawsuit, it would be Disney. :D

(I am not a lawyer, but was involved in a trademark lawsuit once.)

Quite right on the first, and there are severe limitations on the second, through which Flame On! would probably not be covered.

I'm not a lawyer either, but I'm a writer and have faced this kind of thing several times.

I think Disney's biggest concern about using the phrase, however, is giving ad space to a competitor. With the movie coming out in less than two weeks, the timing couldn't be worse for Disney to bring up the phrase from a Fox film.
