Yep, just released in a press release! MGM Studios new name will be:

Disney's Hollywood Studios!

EDIT: Stirght from today's press release:

New Name, More Magic for Disney Theme Park

In the Walt Disney WorldŽ Theme Park famous for all things Hollywood, it’s curtain up on the launch of new attractions, new looks, new breakthrough experiences… and a brand-new name. Disney-MGM Studios will be renamed Disney’s Hollywood Studios, effective January 2008, announced Meg Crofton, president of the Walt Disney World Resort.

“The new name reflects how the park has grown from representing the golden age of movies to a celebration of the new entertainment that today’s Hollywood has to offer – in music, television, movies and theater,” she said.
With exciting coming attractions and experiences, the best and brightest of Hollywood is about to emerge for your Clients, Crofton said.

“As Disney continues to grow and invest in our family entertainment business, we constantly explore new ways to deliver high-quality, immersive experiences for our Guests,” she added. “As a park all about entertainment, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will deliver like never before. Now we can say that Hollywood is literally our middle name.”

"This is easily one of the most ambitious attractions rollouts in the 18-year history of the park,” Crofton said. “With so many great coming attractions, we are thrilled to be launching a Studios year unlike any other. Wrapped in a brand-new name… Disney’s Hollywood Studios.”

So, does that mean they'll keep alot of the movie based attractions? Like Muppet-Vision, Star Tours, or the Great Movie Ride?

Ok so... none of the new attractions excite me. Why couldn't they update Indiana Jones to correlate with the new movie? I'm sure they could have come up with something.

There were a couple of rumors about what it's name would be, Disney Pixar Studios was one, and Disney ABC Studios was another.

I'm going to guess the Toy Story will be in the area who want's to be a millionare: play it! I was there two days ago and it ws under construction.
DHS, sounds bad.
Their Contract with MGM ended a while ago, so they really had to choice to change it

I dont believe this really, so it's pretty much a rumor for now. MGM Studios lost it's name a very long time ago, right now its really called just the Disney Studios..

It's based around like your walking in Hollywood, only in the front part of the park though. But I don't think they are renaming it that, right now it's really called just the Disney Studios.

Facnyface
08-09-2007, 10:56 PM
Lol they would. Block Party Bash has been in the planning stages for a while and when they announced Tou Story Maina would be in MGM well that gave the ice on the cake away! The name pretty much sums it up, go behin RNRC and by the CM parking gurage in MGM and they all read have some of the new signs! So it will be happening :)

That really wasn't an Offical press release..
It was annoced by the WDW Company that it was leeked, and that newletter or whatever was never supposed to come out.
disney hollywood studios, is going to be the new name, hopely not, since its a horrible name. IMO!

GreenGirlJess
08-11-2007, 03:04 AM
What are we suppose to call it now?

Instead of saying, 'We are going to MGM' do we say, 'We are going to Hollywood'

Grr. I don't like the name change AT all.

Facnyface
08-11-2007, 05:46 AM
No you can say ''We are going to DHS'' like alot of people say ''we are going to DAK''!

I think this is a good thing! MGM Studios is due for some changes - it was getting to be a bit stale. I'm glad they are moving to more of a Pixar related theme as opposed to the ABC theme (which is/was boring imho.) Not to mention that Disney has no affiliation with MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) at all anymore so....

As long as they don't mess with my Muppet Vision it's all good. :D

Facnyface
08-15-2007, 12:31 AM
Yea Muppet Vision and Backlot Tour keep them the rest can go pls. But ABC is just full of soaps and stuff that isn't needed for a kids place.

oh and they got rid of millionaire!! i used to love that attraction, ive gotten down at the hot seat 3 times but no luck on the cruise.. i did get up to 250,000 though. but i miss it so much bc i wanted the cruise!!

Well, whenever I go to the park next, I am definitely not saying, let's go to Disney's Hollywood Studios. It is just a tacky name for me. Why not something like, Disney's Movie Magic Park or something like that.. As for the rides, they sound interesting except for that silly HSM parade, but that is only my opinion. I think I could do without the parade for either movie in MGM.

(P.S.) Maybe if everyone in the park calls it MGM, they might get the hint that the new name is horrible!

Lol, how about The Odsessy, it maybe before alot of you all's times but it's a great resturant that just re-opened (finally) in EPCOT...

Yea, but they are trying to cut back on thinks that make it a soap and make it into a kids theme park (what walt orginally visioned for DLR and WDW)...

Yea but it would take another half a year to re-do everything even if they considered it. It wasn't WDI that made up the name, i'll tell you that much.

I think it is an appropriate name though. All of it is Hollywood, but I really hope ABC won't go, I really enjoy it! When I go again, in three years, I want to see ABC there instead of Pixar..

*Sigh* Oh well.. at least their making money, and keeping up the buisness..

Yea but if you a little kid soaps are nothing to you... And WDW is a kids place, maybe if it was like universal where it's a teens place it might make some sense.

teens watch soaps? don't think so... O_O LOL
I'm ok with the name change but i will still probably call it MGM Studios. I think there might be a little too much of this pixarization stuff. Like when is the last time WDW opened a major not disney pixar attraction? Anyway... Maybe this Hollywood thing will be the taking down of the sorcerer hat if they have some kind of an agreement with the chinese theater that is copyrighted in hollywood-which is why right now, they can't have any of the beautiful building in it. I really don't want the sorcerer hat taken down.

Isn't MGM in WDW? Why would they have Hollywood in it.

It's no longer Disney's MGM studios, because there wan't enough MGM in the park to be MGM studios. Therefore, Disney hollywood studios is better because the enitre park is about the movies and hollywood.

I for one am quite exccited about the new name.

In a way they do. Alot of teens watch ''Degressi'' and ''South Of No Where'' and they are drama shows yes, but they can also be considered as soaps.
