New Name, More Magic for Disney Theme Park

In the Walt Disney World® Theme Park famous for all things Hollywood, it’s curtain up on the launch of new attractions, new looks, new breakthrough experiences… and a brand-new name. Disney-MGM Studios will be renamed Disney’s Hollywood Studios, effective January 2008, announced Meg Crofton, president of the Walt Disney World Resort.

“The new name reflects how the park has grown from representing the golden age of movies to a celebration of the new entertainment that today’s Hollywood has to offer – in music, television, movies and theater,” she said.
With exciting coming attractions and experiences, the best and brightest of Hollywood is about to emerge for your Clients, Crofton said.

“As Disney continues to grow and invest in our family entertainment business, we constantly explore new ways to deliver high-quality, immersive experiences for our Guests,” she added. “As a park all about entertainment, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will deliver like never before. Now we can say that Hollywood is literally our middle name.”

"This is easily one of the most ambitious attractions rollouts in the 18-year history of the park,” Crofton said. “With so many great coming attractions, we are thrilled to be launching a Studios year unlike any other. Wrapped in a brand-new name… Disney’s Hollywood Studios.”

Toy Story Mania!
Your Clients can get sporty in a new, interactive “Toy Story” competition inspired by Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story” films and hosted by characters like they’ve never before experienced. Past a queuing area featuring a giant Mr. Potato Head, guests grab 3-D glasses, board fanciful ride vehicles and zip into a world of exciting midway-style games hosted by many of their favorite “Toy Story” characters including Woody, Hamm and Rex. Disney's Hollywood Studios?
Well, I liked Disney's MGM Studios way better.

So, does that mean they'll keep alot of the movie based attractions? Like Muppet-Vision, Star Tours, or the Great Movie Ride?

Ok so... none of the new attractions excite me. Why couldn't they update Indiana Jones to correlate with the new movie? I'm sure they could have come up with something.

Lol they are just they haveb;t announced it yet ;) And all of the same rides will be staying but the park will become more pixar based.

There were a couple of rumors about what it's name would be, Disney Pixar Studios was one, and Disney ABC Studios was another.

Yea but WDW is finally dropping the ABC theme and putting in Pixar since right now Pixar is bigger then ABC...

Toy Story is nice

I'm going to guess the Toy Story will be in the area who want's to be a millionare: play it! I was there two days ago and it ws under construction.

Their Contract with MGM ended a while ago, so they really had to choice to change it

It's based around like your walking in Hollywood, only in the front part of the park though. But I don't think they are renaming it that, right now it's really called just the Disney Studios.

Lol they would. Block Party Bash has been in the planning stages for a while and when they announced Tou Story Maina would be in MGM well that gave the ice on the cake away! The name pretty much sums it up, go behin RNRC and by the CM parking gurage in MGM and they all read have some of the new signs! So it will be happening :)

I think this is a good thing! MGM Studios is due for some changes - it was getting to be a bit stale. I'm glad they are moving to more of a Pixar related theme as opposed to the ABC theme (which is/was boring imho.) Not to mention that Disney has no affiliation with MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) at all anymore so....

As long as they don't mess with my Muppet Vision it's all good. :D

omg im so upset about disney changing the name. I've been going to disney for a very long time and to change it.... it just doesnt feel right :(

oh and they got rid of millionaire!! i used to love that attraction, ive gotten down at the hot seat 3 times but no luck on the cruise.. i did get up to 250,000 though. but i miss it so much bc i wanted the cruise!!

Well, whenever I go to the park next, I am definitely not saying, let's go to Disney's Hollywood Studios. It is just a tacky name for me. Why not something like, Disney's Movie Magic Park or something like that.. As for the rides, they sound interesting except for that silly HSM parade, but that is only my opinion. I think it is an appropriate name though. All of it is Hollywood, but I really hope ABC won't go, I really enjoy it! When I go again, in three years, I want to see ABC there instead of Pixar..

Maybe this Hollywood thing will be the taking down of the sorcerer hat if they have some kind of an agreement with the chinese theater that is copyrighted in hollywood-which is why right now, they can't have any of the beautiful building in it. I really don't want the sorcerer hat taken down.

It's no longer Disney's MGM studios, because there wan't enough MGM in the park to be MGM studios. Therefore, Disney hollywood studios is better because the enitre park is about the movies and hollywood.

I for one am quite exccited about the new name.

In a way they do. Alot of teens watch ''Degressi'' and ''South Of No Where'' and they are drama shows yes, but they can also be considered as soaps.
