View Full Version : The Future of VMK Central at WDW??
Marysol 08-08-2007, 06:33 PM OK. So They are many thoughts and speculations. Here a just a few things that just seem odd and conected to the move.
- First Off, Apparently there was an Offical Press that it will be moving to Tomorrowland.
- Also, If you take off the Sticker on the Animation Quest It says Take to the Tomorrowland Area, and at the bottom of it, it says Magic Kingdom WDW. Something like that.
Okay, So I found out about VMK Central's future.
We are all sad that according to yavn there will be no VMK Central at all.
First DLR, now WDW!
What's going on you may ask?
On August 7th 2007 I asked one of the main people at VMK Central
What they were going to do with the Mickey Cards, Halloween and Xmas Stuff Since VMK Central was closing.
He said where did you find that out?
I said, it was annocced last night by Yavn in the newsletter.
He said, Oh! Well We are just moving to tomorrowland!
We want to make it nicer, and it will just be devoted to VMK.
So Hopely, if he was telling the truth, [he seemed to know what he was talking about] VMK Central will move to tomorrowland.
I think that they are moving the Kiosk that was originally in DLR, to WDW.
I'm hoping this happens! I'm going for Christmas time!
Any Opinions?
Annaso 08-08-2007, 06:39 PM So they're only moving it? Oh, well I guess that's good news! The only thing I don't understand is why...I mean, to make it nicer seems like a pointless reason, don't you think?
MinniesDream 08-08-2007, 06:39 PM I am going in christmas, too! I wanted tSOOOOO bad to get the snowmen! Hopefully this happens!
I'm not sure if this has been posted but anyway..

Marysol 08-08-2007, 06:42 PM So they're only moving it? Oh, well I guess that's good news! The only thing I don't understand is why...I mean, to make it nicer seems like a pointless reason, don't you think?
Well, it's a shared shop and it must admit it's kinda cramped. I think they may have a few new computers and startions were you can get the quest.
It get's busy in there as well, since only 1 person is at the VMK half of the counter at a time.
I wish Yavn had said, We are moving instead. I don't think he relized how many people go to WDW Just for VMK.
On of the main reasons we booked xmas was becuase my parents new i love vmk, and I told them about the Xmas Quest. So when I found out on Monday night about closing I was very MAD. haha
DarthMelissa 08-08-2007, 06:43 PM What benefit would Yavn have to say it is closing if it is not?
Destination 08-08-2007, 06:47 PM I hope this is true bc i might be going to WDW sometime soon! :)
Annaso 08-08-2007, 07:20 PM Well, it's a shared shop and it must admit it's kinda cramped. I think they may have a few new computers and startions were you can get the quest.

Oh, well that makes sense. Now that I think about it, the last time I went to VMK Central at WDW, it did seem kind of...small.
Facnyface 08-08-2007, 07:55 PM Actually he's right they are moving it to the end of Space Mountain but unfortinutaly Space will be closeing in jan for 1 year for rehab so VMK Central wont be in the parks for the next year and a half. Plus the reason it's closeing to begin with is becuase the shop in MSC is being made into a gift shop and they had to move it (Tomorrowland Arcade) but that is closeing with space so we wont be seeing it in WDW anytime soon ;)
WDW Monorail 08-08-2007, 08:00 PM Well, the original buzz that was around a few months ago was that VMK Central would be moved to the Tomorrowland Arcade.
Last week, Kevin Yee mentioned in his update that it would be moved to ToonTown. I'm not sure if you should believe Yavn since Kevin is a very good source and the Tomorrowland Arcade story has been around since at least March. I myself really thought that it would close soon but now I'm not sure. Again, the ambiguity of Disney business prevails.
Either way, most likely a jewelry shop will take VMK Central's place in the Main Street Cinema.
Destination 08-08-2007, 08:02 PM I hope when I got to WDW (if i ever do soon) Space Mountain will be open
Facnyface 08-08-2007, 09:40 PM Actually yavn once mentioned this:
Plan A ---> VMK Central not be moved if the YOMD would be around longer (well before he moved to plan B YOMD was only going to be around till sept)
Plan B ---> VMK Central be moved to Tomorrowland Arcade OR Mickey's Toontown Fair/Far eastern side of Fantasyland <--- Well that idea would require a whole new building which WDW wasn't going to fund more money on a free game.
Plan C ---> It closes temporary until the new area is built <--- Current plan.
punkpat 08-08-2007, 10:02 PM just wondering does that mean we can not play vmk at central and then not be able to get in park ppl?
AllAboutStitch 08-08-2007, 10:15 PM Omg are u serious!? yesterday i was crying but now i'm full of smiles! i really hope this is true so i don't get my hopes up. But i totally believe u 100%!! Yay!!!!!!! :D
futureimagineer1117 08-08-2007, 10:15 PM just wondering does that mean we can not play vmk at central and then not be able to get in park ppl?
For the time being, yes.
I think it's actually quite sensible to move it to the end of a VERY VERY VERY busy ride. Before, the only sign that it was VMK central, was like, a poster in the door. VMK will get many new born-in-park players, and more players once those guests get home if they didn't get time to play in WDW.
VMKJen 08-08-2007, 10:18 PM Yay! That's so good becuase I think I'm going to WDW around christmas time :)
AceGoalkeeper 08-08-2007, 10:26 PM They said they were closing VMK Central, not moving it...
- Ace
Facnyface 08-08-2007, 10:43 PM As yavn said VMK Central WILL be closeing but as he said they will be bringing it back to the park sometime later on in life (not anytime soon). So for now this thread is just a romor until confirmed by VMK.
Marysol 08-08-2007, 11:15 PM They said they were closing VMK Central, not moving it...
- Ace
Well, a disney worker said that, yavn can't control what disney does..
As yavn said VMK Central WILL be closeing but as he said they will be bringing it back to the park sometime later on in life (not anytime soon). So for now this thread is just a romor until confirmed by VMK.
I dont remember him saying they would bring it back. Yavn isn't very reliable if you ask me, and I don't think its a rumor, and I don't think they would get rid of vmk central.
Do you know how much money they make off vmk? Alot of people vome just for it.
Facnyface 08-08-2007, 11:19 PM Yes but if they are tired of funding it they will drop it. The game is fadeing off and they figured they would end it in the parks before it brings the parks down. He said they MIGHT bring it back to the parks my bad forgot to add that word in. But as for now this thread is a rumor... Everything CM's say aren't true. A CM said HSM Roller Coaster will open in MK in fall 2007 well we are in summer 2007 and there is no construction in the way of a new ride in MK. The CM's were told that LMA was going to be a cars right and it's not it's a show! Not even themed to cars as they were told! So for now this is a rumor. CM's usually are the last to be told about things going on in the parks.
WDW Monorail 08-08-2007, 11:21 PM As much as I thought that it would be closing, I have changed my mind. I think it will be moved to Tomorrowland or possibly ToonTown.
Let me add that Disney makes 0% profit from VMK.
:)
Patchy 08-09-2007, 12:10 AM Yes but if they are tired of funding it they will drop it. The game is fadeing off and they figured they would end it in the parks before it brings the parks down. I agree with what he is saying, they do not know until the very last minute.
WDW Monorail 08-09-2007, 12:11 AM I agree with what he is saying, they do not know until the very last minute.
Seconded.:)
Blossomflower 08-09-2007, 12:31 AM :o
Really? Then why didn't Yavn say that?
futureimagineer1117 08-09-2007, 01:15 AM I agree with what he is saying, they do not know until the very last minute.
Actually, less than a week after the Timekeeper closing was ANNOUNCED at WDW, I was talking to a CM at CoP and he confirmed there would be an "interactive Monsters, Inc. show". Lo and behold, "Laugh Floor"!!!! This was over a year before the show opened.
Another good example: Right after "Tarzan Rocks!" (my fav disney show EVER btw...) closed, A CM outside of Dinosaur said they would have a Nemo musical in its place (which is my new fav show!!!!!!!!!)
Facnyface 08-09-2007, 01:41 AM Yes becuase disney offically announced it. When Disney offically announces something of course the CM's know. That is YOMD stuff that was announced when the event was announced.
Narnialucygirl 08-09-2007, 01:48 AM thats bad im going after it closes
Facnyface 08-09-2007, 03:01 AM You still have a few quests and you can buy stuff!
Darenator 08-09-2007, 07:27 AM I doubt it.
It's probably just a miscommunication between management at WDW and VMK.
Mathewmouse 08-09-2007, 07:30 AM I wish they'd keep the kiosk in DLR and make one for WDW. That way everyone's happy! :)
Facnyface 08-09-2007, 03:07 PM I doubt it.
It's probably just a miscommunication between management at WDW and VMK.
Orginally they were going to move it but WDW must have droped the budget/funding.
Marysol 08-09-2007, 09:44 PM Let me add that Disney makes 0% profit from VMK.
:)
I don't think you really know how many people Go on even day trips just to go to VMK Central. I have friends who live in WDW, and they will buy a 30$$ or whatever, ticket just to go to VMK Central..Without VMK Central they will loose more people then you think.
CM's who say false things, are usually kids in college. The person I talked to was deff. not a college kid, and was a bit more wise. I dont think this is a rumor at all, IMO I think that they wouldn't get rid of VMK Central, I beilive that they are bringing it back.
Facnyface 08-09-2007, 10:37 PM They MIGHT bring it back. Nobody knows for sure. All we know is what VMK officals have said is that it's leaveing WDW. For now this is a rumor becuase all VMK officals have said is it's leaveing the parks and they never said if it will or will not be back in the parks. The cast members in VMK Central in WDW (and even DLR) ARE NOT offical VMK staff they just work there becuase that is where WDW put them to work. They hardly know anything about the game, when I go they don't even know what a community leader is or does, they know nothing about the game they just work there. They also do not know for A FACT if it's moving or not, they just know that at the end of september there job is being moved to else where in the company.

Disney can close VMK if they want. VMK Staff can't control what the WDW Company decides to do. This guy really new ALOT about VMK. He even mentioned the trading card game, tiki month, and more. IF you didnt noticed i said, IN MY OPINION.
Facnyface 08-09-2007, 10:58 PM Well im just letting you and everyone else know that the staff that work in VMK Central in WDW and DLR (well former) do not know what is happening in the parks and why. When Monsters Inc was going in CM's were told it was going to be Finding: Nemo, and Finding: Nemo The Musical CM's thought would be a water ride. Yak And Yeti, the CM's were always told was goign to be another raft ride and when disney announced it, everyone's minds changed to what it really was going to be. So CMs in the parks don't know what is happening and why until right before or during it's being publically announced by WDW/DLR officals.

I understand what you mean. I know of several incidences in which people stopped going to DLR as often as they used to since VMK Central there was closed. VMK does have a large fanbase and it does attract many guests to MK.
Certainly VMK has a very large income. But an income is different from a profit. I'm sure that you know the difference. Although I do not have an official financial report of VMK, I think that it is safe to say that VMK's profit, if any, is nominal.

Yes, that is one thing I dis-like about MK's. The one in DLR was a bit more..obvious. The one in MK, isn't very apprealings since theres not much at all really, and alot of my friends say they can't find VMKC.
Blah. I'm going soon, I'l try and dig out more about it.
Off Topic Kinda: Im doing the Dinning with the imagineer thing (I THINK) so maybe they will know, maybe. im doubting they have any clue whatsoever, but hey i can finally ask about that center of earth thing, and get some of the epcot rumors down =]

Basicly VMKC is a waste of space in WDW and DLR... The money they got from people who went ot WDW and DLR just for VMK is paying to run the game and pay the cast members who run it.

I know a few imagineers personally, Joe Rhode is one of them and he put to rest the famous rumor of Beastly Kingdom in DAK as it will never be coming to DAK... But as I said above, running a server costs alot of money, and if you don't believe that ask Batleth, Nick, any of the admins on here who know about it they know that paying for a server costs alot of money. And think the VMKF server is running for about 30,000 people the VMK server is running for over 5 million people, so imagine how much it would cost then. SO the money WDW and DLR make from tickets justfor VMK is ''chump change'' it's not even any where near what it costs to pay the engineers, cast members, and disney online crew members for the game, let alone the employees in the park and the money it's costing takeing up valiable sspace not only in DLR but also WDW. So in the long run it's actually great for the company, by removeing it from the parks they now have extra money to spend on things like, rehab for Space, BTM, and the Monorail...
MamaJo 08-17-2007, 06:22 PM Firstly, if you did read the vmk newsletter it says right in Yavn's article
"First up, I have an important announcement I need to get out of the way… there's really no easy way to say this, so here goes – on September 30th we're closing VMK Central at Walt Disney World."
Well, he didn't say they were moving but they were closing.

Exactly! They may in the future when WDW and DLR find more money and space to open it they will but for now it's good just haveing a few quests.

Hmm, I dont see the word forever in there. Yes, I dont see the word moving.
I cant explain it much more then this but - Maybe they are Closing it, for a while. Meaning it wont be up ASAP.
Too Complicated to say more.
faroutgirl 08-20-2007, 07:17 PM It's leaving deal with it, all us of us at DLR hoped and prayed it would not happen but it did.
Marysol 08-20-2007, 07:34 PM It's leaving deal with it, all us of us at DLR hoped and prayed it would not happen but it did.
Uhm, I mean I'll live. Im dealing with it. I'm just saying it may come back. DLR, is smaller and not as many tourist come there as they do to WDW. You never know. It may even come to DLR again. Yavn didnt say it was gone for good.
Facnyface 08-20-2007, 08:41 PM It's leaving deal with it, all us of us at DLR hoped and prayed it would not happen but it did.
Pretty much...

Not as many people go to DLR becuase it's occupancy is smaller then WDW's so of course it's attendence would be down. Also DLR only ha 2 parks while WDW has 6.
WDW Monorail 08-20-2007, 11:37 PM It has been confirmed that VMK Central will move to the Tomorrowland Arcade. Kevin Yee reported that a jewelry shop will take it's place in the Cinema.
I would assume that some of the King's Gallery merchandise will take it's place as well since the BBB is moving into it's current location.
piratewithskill 08-20-2007, 11:41 PM I think yavns tricking us
Pinkglitter 08-20-2007, 11:50 PM Omg I Am Soo Happy I Am Going In Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Christygirlya 08-20-2007, 11:58 PM Oh, I sure hope so! I'm going in Spring.
aurorarosesb 08-21-2007, 12:03 AM not to be pessemistic but they might be moving for now and still closing at the end of September. Renovation work on that area has to move along since their entering slow season and they just might be unable the wait to start, thus a temporary place in tomorrowland is being set up
Facnyface 08-21-2007, 01:31 AM Yea it's moving to the arcade however WDI also made the comment that there are rumors floating around in DLR that you may have to pay for the cards now. Just a rumor they said. But they said VMK Central may be open as early as summer - fall 08! But what concerns me is space is closeing in late jan 08 and that is also a part of space so mayeb it will not open until Jan 09 when space re-opens.

I am sure that the arcade, which is a separate entity from Space Mountain, will not close along with Space Mountain's refurb. Just because it is located at the end of Space Mountain's exit queue doesn't mean they will close it as well. I mean, really, is disney really going to close something they could earn money on if it wasn't necessary?(Think arcade games, merchandise, etc.) So if VMK Central does reopen there i don't think we'll have to worry about Space Mountain's refurb interfering with those plans.
Facnyface 08-21-2007, 08:05 PM You neverk now maybe they want to re-do that with it and then they will start work on VMK Central. As WDW Monorail said, why would they start consturction in the slowest season?
Marysol 08-23-2007, 01:50 AM It has been confirmed that VMK Central will move to the Tomorrowland Arcade. Kevin Yee reported that a jewelry shop will take it's place in the Cinema.

Hehe, I knew it :)
I guess you can trust some CM's
I think we've learned a lesson here: Not everything you hear is a rumor =]
Im going to try and find out when it will reopen.
Facnyface 08-23-2007, 09:46 PM Yea but you don't go buy what they say you go by offical releases, WDW did finally offically release it but at the time all WDW spokes person(s) said was that it was leaveing they never said when or if it would return to WDW or DLR.
Marysol 08-24-2007, 11:49 PM Yes, but someone always say's don't trust CM's. Well, i had faith in someone, and I thought it would happen. It did. Don't know what more to say, Dont wanna say more.
Facnyface 08-25-2007, 12:03 AM Yea sometimes CM's are told wrong, you never know until WDI or WDW offically announces it.
Marysol 08-25-2007, 09:15 PM i'm just not going to say more ;)
not arugeing.
Thark 09-02-2007, 04:42 AM I still do not see where this is a confirmed story yet.
There has been no direct quote from anything official. Everything has been rumor based.
I have read over the other threads on this topic and each and every one of them has not had one solid piece of proof. I am not going choose which to be on either side, but I will tell you the facts that we know right now.
The only official piece of information we have is Yavn's newsletter. Fact is, VMK Central is closing, end of story. There is a lot of speculation on the topic of VMK Central moving. There has not been anything official said on this. I can tell you this though, Tomorrowland is not yet equipped to run a VMK Central Kiosk. VMK Central will close, and, if reopened, will not be for a period of time.
None of the posts previous to this has stated a source. There was another thread that stated that the sources were from an outside site. I have tracked down through that site. Those sources were stating rumors over again. There has been no official press release from WDI. The other source was stating a belief of the site, it stated no source and has no basis for its claim.
Cast Members are not proof of what is going on. I would like to remind everyone that Cast Members do not always get the facts straight. They are not told everything about what is going on at the parks. As a cast member, there has been no official information sent to us. Most of the information Cast Members give are either rumors that they believe in, or information from sources within the company that are again rumors. Nothing is official until the company releases it.
Summary:
VMK Central is closing. We do not know for sure if VMK Central is moving or not. There is no solid or official proof for this. VMK Central may move, or it may not, the public does not know. There are no official plans for its so called move yet.
Try not to spread these unfounded rumors around.
Marysol 09-02-2007, 02:55 PM uhm, who said i was spreading them.
we'll just have to wait and see.
personally, im done talking and argueing about vmk central whatsoever.
it's a waste of time.
BYE
Jacques 09-02-2007, 04:12 PM Marysol, Thark's comments were directed towards the general thread, not specifically towards you. There are many rumors going around about the fate of VMK Central. Thark said it best. You don't know until you know.
rockynmax 09-03-2007, 02:38 PM Thark, lighten up dude!
Hey, if everyone wants WDW to have a VMK Central Kisosk, why don't you write to the Walt Disney Company. I'm sure if enough people write in they might put a VMK Central Kisosk in the park. Or write to Vince on VMK contact us.
Jacques 09-03-2007, 02:50 PM Thark, lighten up dude!

Not that simple. VMK is such a minor thing to the Disney Parks. And it requires staffing that is better spent elsewhere. Disney Theme Park Operations and WD Internet Group are two separate entities. There are most likely contracts between the two that are expiring, or have been canceled.

Schmoofy 09-06-2007, 02:17 AM Along the lines of VMK Central's closing...
The closing is on September 30th. Also on that day is a Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. The MK closes at 8:00 PM that night to regular guests, I believe. (Someone correct me on this.)
Will VMK Central stay open during the party as well?

I highly doubt it. They usually close it for Extra Magic Hours.
I just spoke with a Cast Member this week and they said ''VMK Central is not moving anytime soon we are closeing our doors for various reasons. I'm sorry to tell you but VMK Central may not return to the Walt Disney World Resort however I am not 100% sure but I am 90% accurate that it will not return here or the Disneyland Resort''. He also stated ''I am not for sure if it will return to the parks but I am 90% postive it will NOT be in the parks again for the next 2 - 4+ years''. Just what I was told by one of the department managers.
futureimagineer1117 09-07-2007, 10:09 PM I think Yavn is just saying that it's closing, so that when it does re-open, everyone is twice as happy.

When i went during very merry christmas i barely got anything bc they were closing late bc they had too many costumers and bc i went straight to vmk central so, no they don't stay open for the event. Your best bet would have to be go straight to vmk central when u get into the park
Fantasysurfingboy 09-07-2007, 10:38 PM That really stinks. I go to Disneyland alot, and now they only have 1 in WDW? That was not a smart move. Alot of people are going to get angry.

Yea but they will get over it. VMK is actully makeing Disney loose money. They drop it in the parks, it will actually save them money. They wont have to spend extra money for special paper and prinited cards, special tech cms special cm's for stamping things, and such.

It varys from what CM tells you. Obveiously a Deparment Manager knows what they are doing with the park since they are apart of the decision. And also seeing how others get away with it, I figured I might as well start myself.
Jacques 09-08-2007, 07:22 PM And also seeing how others get away with it, I figured I might as well start myself.
That's not how it works. Please stick to confirmed facts. VMK Central is closing. Period.

Jacques 09-09-2007, 03:24 AM Please be respectful. We will find out at the end of the month the final fate of VMK Central.
Most often, Cast Members (including management) don't know the entire story. They are not part of the decision making process, and can only report on heresay, if they choose to say anything at all. The CMs actually working the location are usually the last to know details. I would take Yavn's word on the matter over any CM or manager in park. But again, we will know by month's end.

Whoever is closeing it, it's not WDI. WDI knows nothing, or so they say.
lightningzoom 09-09-2007, 03:41 PM I hope they are just moving the one at DLR too, because that would be my only hope.
Jacques 09-09-2007, 03:47 PM Whoever is closeing it, it's not WDI. WDI knows nothing, or so they say.
WDI would have nothing to do with it. They are the division that designs the rides.
I hope they are just moving the one at DLR too, because that would be my only hope.
The one at DLR has been destroyed. They have made it very clear that it will not be returning. I wouldn't count on them coming back.

Idk a few of my friends work in WDI and they have been designing alot of the new resturants, shops, and such in the parks. One of them is even designing BBB, not how it will look but the size of it and what goes where and such.

Like I said, WDI designs. They have nothing to do with VMK Central, park operations, etc.
Facnyface 09-10-2007, 12:38 AM Yea pretty much. But some of them do have power as to where things are put. And what needs to be removed.
Jacques 09-10-2007, 03:31 AM Not actually. The Theme Park Operations makes those decisions. WDI can decide how, but not when something comes out.
Facnyface 09-10-2007, 07:12 PM Yea very true. WDI can be confuseing at times, im so glad I am in the department im in now lol. Anyways back to the topic. Anyone have anymore factual information?
Jacques 09-10-2007, 10:38 PM Not confusing at all. WDI designs things.
And as far as VMK Central's fate, again, wait until the end of the month when they told us it would be closing. We'll know for sure then. Anything else is just rumor and speculation.

One thing isn't a rumor is all of there stuff is all DLR's now. You peel off stickers and they say ''Return to VMK Central in Tomorrowland'' and at the bottom it has a different UPC then the WDW's also in the computer if any of you happen to catch a glimpse of it it now says ''Disneyland Resort'' above the VMK logo.

Yep. The gold sticker they just so sloppily place upon the Tomorrowland VMK central blurb.
Oh and we wont even know for sure at the end of the month Jacques. It's not like the day it closes its going to be going elsewere. If you even ask about its closing on that day, you'll still get the same... 'rumor' as you say it :)

I'm not saying you ask on that day. I'm saying you wait to see what actions are taken with respect to VMK Central. Either it will be closed, or moved, or neither. All indications point to closing.
A rumor is like a theory or hypothesis about it. It can never be proven until facts are laid down, vaild facts.

Caterpillar AEIOU 09-14-2007, 05:54 AM Actually he's right they are moving it to the end of Space Mountain but unfortinutaly Space will be closeing in jan for 1 year for rehab so VMK Central wont be in the parks for the next year and a half. Plus the reason it's closeing to begin with is becuase the shop in MSC is being made into a gift shop and they had to move it (Tomorrowland Arcade) but that is closeing with space so we wont be seeing it in WDW anytime soon ;)
Space Mountain closes for rehab a lot, they NEVER close the arcade during rehab, it is a huge money maker! They just close off the exit door.
Facnyface 09-14-2007, 08:47 PM Space Mountain closes for rehab a lot, they NEVER close the arcade during rehab, it is a huge money maker! They just close off the exit door.

32 years is hardly ancient. But roller coasters are very hard on their structures by nature. Many forces are at work. It's completely normal for a coaster to go down for rehab often.
the_phoenix 09-14-2007, 09:46 PM The cast members in VMK Central in WDW (and even DLR) ARE NOT offical VMK staff they just work there becuase that is where WDW put them to work.
Eh... Wrong. VMK Staff don't have ANY Saying with wether Dsieny decides to move their loation, or close the game. They're teachers, that was said when you enter the game for the first time, i think. Anyway, If disney were to close the game, Staff wouldn't care.

You misread what he was saying. He was talking about Theme Park Cast Members, and you are speaking of VMK Staff. Different groups. The cast members that run VMK Central do not work for VMK. They work for Disney Theme Park Operations. They have no control over the game itself, nor the closing of VMK Central.
And yes, VMK Staff would care if Disney were to shut down VMK. They would get fired.
Marysol 09-15-2007, 12:14 AM I'm sure they aren't paied much anyway. I think some may even been retired. Lots of Disney People are retirees.
hah

Does anyone have any pictures/proof of these VMK Computers? If they are putting up just computers it can be for anything. Since today's modern technology can be anything. We don't know for sure unless they say ''VMK'' at the top like the current ones do. So I would be needing some proof that they are indeed VMK computers and not computers for various things like surfing the internet.

What I meant was, there is nothing preventing the computers from being used for other purposes. They are currently set for VMK only, but that can be removed by their technical staff. Guests do not have access to anything other than VMK on them.

I know that but what he made it sound like was the computers are for VMK only. I'm saying is I need the proof that the supposed computers they are putting into Torrowland Arcade are in fact for VMK. I need some proof that they are actually VMK computers, as in have the gold symbol above them like the current ones do. Or have some sort of thing that represents VMK on them.

Noelle 09-16-2007, 12:51 PM I was there yesterday and saw evidence of how much the cast members do not know. One said that VMK Central was supposed to close in August and then they moved it to Sept. The other one said definitely on Sept 31st. He left before I could break the news to him that there are actually only 30 days in Sept. They also told me that you could only do the quests every 90 days. I thought it was 60? I explained the game to a few newbies there because one cast member was telling people that VMK is just like The Sims. No, not really.
The computers could be used for other things. They are so bad though that they really just need to push them into the lagoon.

I see where your going. Your saying that these could just be computers kinda like they have at Disney Quest, sit down and your able to surf the web and relax for a bit right..I'm guessing that the computers will go wherever, hopely new ones. Maybe a real keyboard too. ughh. I hate the keyboard and mouse there!!

LOL that is so funny. Jeez, some people really don't know much of whats going on, Disney or not 0_0. Maybe they said it was like the sims, since they didnt want to down the game, since its not as technical, you cant show much creativity into your character, oh plus its not innapproprite.
I agree with the computers ^^see above quote^^.

I did a cross u in Tomorrowland when I was a WDW CM.
So I happend to know that Space Mountain closed a lot due to breaking down, they dont shut down the arcade, that is not even part of the attraction, it is a MERCHANDISE location.
You can find out yourself the next time you are at the park, just ask someone that works in there.
If I said anymore it would be giving personal info.
It isnt a contest to see who finds out info first.

Jacques 09-17-2007, 06:43 PM Fair enough. We'll see at the end of the month if VMK Central has been relocated.
The reason I am pressing this issue is based off the DLR experience. VMK said they were leaving, and they did. I see no reason they wouldn't do the same at WDW after saying they were leaving.

To my understanding this is the wrong CM you are refering to. I know the exact person your refering to however he mentioned he is not a member here.
Jacques 09-17-2007, 07:02 PM Facny, she is referring to herself.
And as far as them moving VMK computers, they may very well be doing this. DLR has kept its Innoventions computers, so WDW may be doing the same. But the quest/prize program will most likely be leaving.

DLR still has VMK! I was there less than a week ago, You can still get VMK sub middles from the Nemo Ride, There are 2 GIANT rooms at Innovention, which you can log onto VMK in.These are the computers that everyone is referring to
You can also win QUEST CARDS! They give demonstrations in the VMK cave, some of the prizes are VMK quest cards. My daughter got 2 of them. They are old land quest cards.
Both of you are missing this point. VMK only closed the QUEST KIOSK at DLR, there are plenty of other VMK opportunities.
And as for the FACNYFACE person, I have NO idea who you are referring to.
Unless you have been to both WDW and DLR, it can be a bit confusing to understand.
Jacques 09-17-2007, 07:32 PM Caterpillar, I realized I was being unclear, and responded. The computers may be moving, but VMK Central as it exists will be no more. The quest program is ending.
The DLR Nemo cards are not quests. They are free handouts. There are activites to do, but no need to redeem them for a prize. And yes, Innoventions still has the computers. The cards they are handing out are left overs from when they still had the program, and not done on a consistent basis.
The VMK In Park program is undergoing a transformation. They are no longer staffing a specific location. Their prize distribution has officially ended at DLR, and WDW is next. There may still be some items, such as the Nemo cards or Pirate pin set, but for all intents and purposes, VMK has ended its quest program.
They may reinstate it in the future, but as for now, nothing is certain.

Hello,
Thanks for writing to VMK about the closure of VMK Central in WDW. VMK is not ending, the game will continue online.
As Yavn mentioned in the Newsletter, as time has gone by, we’ve changed the way in-Park Quest, Rewards and other parts of VMK work. The game, very much like our theme parks, is always changing. We’ve always tried to experiment with unique ways of doing things, like in-Park Questing, and will still continue to do so (for example, we’ll still be doing cool stuff in the Parks, like the merchandise cards and the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage Quest) - but those things won’t revolve just around VMK Central.

Hello,
Thanks for writing to VMK about the closure of VMK Central in WDW.
We hope this addresses your questions and concerns regarding the closure.

I can agree to this. There is much evidence to this.
Marysol 09-23-2007, 02:32 PM What do you agree to Fancy? Sorry I did not know what section you were applying to

Jacques, saying that Staff just copied off the newsletter is a lazy act, isn't flaming.

It was unclear to me whether it was directed at the response, or the person you quoted. I removed it to avoid confusion.
