View Full Version : Displaying pins?
Adventurebry 08-08-2007, 02:57 PM I just bought a bunch of pins, and My lanyard has been full for awhile. Anybody know of a way to place all the pins without being on a lanyard? Does Disney make a corkboard or a book or something that you can buy? If so, where? Thanks :).
prela 08-08-2007, 03:00 PM My family collects pin's. They found a little book where they have many many pages that you can put pins on. Im not sure if thats what your asking for?
paranoid_punk 08-08-2007, 11:02 PM the binders that disney sells at the parks are a very good purchase if you have a lot of pins. I have filled up two of them and they display pins nicely.
Facnyface 08-08-2007, 11:05 PM You have books, your shirt, the lanyard (i agree it's too expensive), and a fewother things you can also use.

The lanyards are not too expensive IMO. I just don't want to put them on one if im not going to wear it. ( I don't want to wear two+ lanyards, my neck will die, lol.)
Can anybody give me a link to somewhere where you can buy this book? I can't seem to find it.
Sushi 08-10-2007, 05:35 AM I stick all of mine on this Disney bookbag I bought. It is almost completely covered with pins. xD
TopazR 08-13-2007, 08:01 AM We bought a big cork board (2'x3' I think?) and hung it in the hallway. Put hooks in the wall underneath for the lanyard medals, and along the sides to hang the lanyards on. All of our pins are stuck into the cork board. When we're going to go on a Disneyland trip we choose a few to take, and then when we get there affix them with locking backs to our lanyards for wearing around the park. The cork board really works great - everybody can enjoy all the pins, and it livens up a previously blank wall. :)
greenhpper 08-13-2007, 11:55 AM Topaz, you beat me to it. We have also done the same thing. We got the corkboard at Staples I believe. We also fashioned a few picture frames to have cork edging and have placed pins around our favorite disney photos.
Before the cork we went to a craft store and purchased various colors of craft foam sheets. You can stick pins in those and layer them in a box or other container. They can also be cut up tinot different sizes based on need.:D
fantasyphillip 08-13-2007, 12:04 PM i can not say becuase we do not have any pins sadly
Ataarii 08-13-2007, 12:18 PM A really cool thing to do is use a shirt. Doing a book is also neat. Sadly, I only have a few pins from 2003. I have some basic ones and I think my Tower Of Terror one is rare. I'm not sure.
StitchMad 08-13-2007, 12:24 PM You could also make a shadow-box. They are great with pins + VMK Cards in.
All 10 Pirate pins. All 10 Pirate Cards. 1 Disney Dollar. Looks wonderful in a shadow box.
Acepowerboy 08-13-2007, 12:35 PM I use a lite vest that I can put a lot off my pins for display and to trade (I added a picture as an example) and is not to bad in the hot days of Florida. Just make sure you don't wear it if you are going on the rides, pins on the back can fall off. Is also good for display. Oh and also you can put them on caps and hang them on the wall and when you ready just pick a cap and off you go.

Ah. That must look nice. Thanks for the sugesstions everybody. I am going to Disny's Character preimere today, so I can see if they have anything good their. I know I have seen a oin book, and a self-standing mickey holding a corkboard for your pins. I wish I could find thoes again.. If not, I really like the corkboard idea. Thanks TopazR!
Thenishall 08-13-2007, 02:14 PM Meh, I haven't gotten around to buying a book, so I just shove them in my pocket -.-
StitchMad 08-14-2007, 12:35 PM Okay, I took some pics for you. I could not find the cork board. I think they missed have stopped selling them. These pics were taken at Downtown Disney pin traders.
First off, there's a nice little book you can buy if you carry your pins around a lot. It's kind of like a laptop bag, but the pin sheets inside.

This one is a waist pack, again, like the thing you use to store keys and cameras in while you're in the park, but this one is for pins! (Personally, I think it looks nice without pins too. lol)

Then here is the one which I like best, and I use to store pins, rather than displaying them. Cheap, only around... $20, and I've had mine for almost 2 years. Buying an new one almost each year.

Inside, like all the items, have a layer where you put your pins, then a protective layer to protect others from the backs. If you have any more questions let me know. :)
Adventurebry 08-14-2007, 01:13 PM Thanks a lot stitch =). I was at the Disney store today, I did not see anything that holds pins exepts lanyards, and these small books, that probably only held 4-6. So I just bought five pins (And some cool shaped backs :P).
Anyway, I have some questions for you. The first "laptop bag", does it only have one sheet like the other one does, or does it have more? If I buy one, I want it to have more pages so I do not have to keep buying more. And, do you rerember the price for it? If it is some outragous price like the large HKDL one is, I don't think I want it ;).
And on average, about how many pins fit on one sheet? And on the gold/black book, there is only one sheet, am I correct? That is my favorite style of everthing you posted, and I would like to know how many it fits. I think I wil be purchasing this one on my next trip to Disney! Thanks a bunch for everything Stitch!
EDIT: And by the way, if anybody wants to see my pins, just click the little panchito down in my siggy there, and you will be brought to my gallery. Click on the Disney pin Album, and you will see most of the pins that I own =).

Okay, I went again, and got you more info. I keep forgetting prices and such! Here's your info:
"Laptop Bag":
Price: $38.00
Pages: 5 Pages for pins, with 6 extra net compartments in between the others for your pin card backs + flyers.
Squares: There are no squares, just a full page of the soft material, I guess you could fit around... 20 big pins, or 30 smaller pins on it. Find out for yourself on the pic below.

Gold & Black Book:
Price: $20.00
Pages: 6 for pins + protective sheets
Squares: 20 per page. (1 pin will fit in 1 square)
http://i9.************/52l7blj.jpg
They also sell the middle parts to the book seperatly, for extras.

In addition to your items above, they also do different designs on the laptop bags, as seen below. Personally though, I prefer the pin trading laptop bag.

Adventurebry 08-15-2007, 02:03 PM Thanks a bunch Stitch. I don't like the "laptop" type bag that much anymore. The gold book is much better! Thanks. So the next time I am in Downown Disney, I will look around for it =). Oh wait.. It is in that big Pin trading place outside, right? I think that is what your talking about. Anyway, I really hope you did not go back to Downtown Disney just to do that :oh! Well, thanks again =).
Thenishall 08-15-2007, 02:27 PM Yeah, that picture looks like it was inside the Downtown Disney place, meh, I was just there :)
VMKChrisssy 08-15-2007, 02:57 PM So far, I only have mine on a lanyard & cork board hanging on my wall xD
I haven't been to Disney in a year, so my pin collection is low T_T
You can try putting them in little tiny containers, like a shadow box, only it sits on your shelf. I have those for my ballet/christmas ornaments X_x

Thenishall 08-16-2007, 05:35 PM Bry, I just bought a corkboard yesterday just to try it out. You must get one of those! :) They are so easy to get pins on and off, and it's looks really cool in your room or wherever you put it.

Yeah, I love the gold books. It's a circular building near Once Upon a Toy. They may also sell them in the Pin Room in the World of Disney, but it's easier to get it from the Pin Traders.
Yeah, I went to Downtown Disney just for you, and to buy some items for our kitchen.
Have fun,
-Stitch

Really, I am just a virtual friend, a Figment of your imagination, almost.. (actually, I an a red bird with an oversized hat.. But who would take an extra trip for a red bird?) Anyway, thanks :Embar:. I hoe it did not take up too much time of your vacation :oh!
EDIT: Right now, I have the cork board. It is very nice. Thanks everybody!
