View Full Version : What does this mean?
BlazinBeats 07-31-2007, 07:52 PM Sometimes I'm playing and all of a sudden, VMK freezes and this message comes up.
"Out of memory while displaying a sprite, even after purging all purgable castmembers"
I've asked my brother numerous times, he has no idea.
Also there is a message that always pops up at the bottom on my screen that the Virtual Memory is too low..what do i do?
Thanks in advance! :wave2:
Alienboy 07-31-2007, 10:01 PM Your RAM is maxing out...Fixes for this is to either A) Upgrade your RAM B) Close out of programs that you dont need C) go with A&B plus clean out your computer
BlazinBeats 07-31-2007, 11:35 PM Ok, My dad said we can't upgrade the RAM right now, but I did clean out my computer and that seemed to have helped. Thank you so much, Alien! :D
Alienboy 08-01-2007, 12:20 AM No Problem, Let me know if you need anymore help.
Jezibabe 08-01-2007, 12:42 AM Just reboot your computer for now.. or try to adjust your virtual memory settings.
Alienboy 08-01-2007, 01:04 AM Be careful when adjusting if you do. Too much can actually hurt you.(I wouldnt recommend it if you dont know how to do it or what exactly it means)

I didn't know that. How does it hurt you? Feel free to pm me if this is too off-topic. You have got me worried now, lol.
Caterpillar AEIOU 08-01-2007, 01:21 AM I am glad that you posted this.I get that message every once in awhile, and have always wonderered what a Sprite was.

It wont hurt you as in yourself, your computers performance.(making sure I clear that up if you were thinking different;)) but if you change the numbers too high your computer will think theres more RAM to store info and use to run things when really there isnt and will make it stress out. Does that make sense?
Dizznygrl 08-01-2007, 03:35 AM I have gotten it a few times in the last week or so, always under the conditions of logging off a player to log on a different one but the original player stays in the game even though it's logged out. I know Yavn addressed this in the last newsletter and said the cure was to always use the log out function rather than just clicking the X, but I do always use the log out function, and it still happens.
Boy, those are two long and complicated sentences!

BlazinBeats 08-01-2007, 04:05 PM Well I cleared out my comp and logged in and out a couple of times, then I restarted my computer and played again, this time getting this message:

Is this basically the same thing?
Alienboy 08-02-2007, 01:45 AM Yeah its the same thing. Do you know how much RAM you have?
PaperClip 08-02-2007, 04:37 AM You should upgrade your Page File. You can doing this, by going to the System Icon in the Control Panel, and going to Advanced --> (Under Performance) Settings --> Then changing the input values on the Page Files. I use about 2-4GB of my hard drive space for my pagefile. For instance, 2048=2GB. Every 1024 is a GB. So, it's up to you to choose how much.
BlazinBeats 08-03-2007, 08:10 PM Yeah its the same thing. Do you know how much RAM you have?
Yeah I have 512MB
Alienboy 08-04-2007, 01:58 AM Yeah I have 512MB
Yeah, they(VMK) recommend 256mb of RAM just to run the program and with everything else you might be running you may want to end some other programs that you dont need, clear out some files so RAM doesnt store too much(possibly use CCleaner) or upgrade to 1gig
