Oh, I got confused on this question. Because it said, "Which Would You Keep On A Sinking Ship", I thought it meant you could take 2 items with you, but you had to leave an item on the ship. @_@

Anyway, I voted for personal item, but I would want to keep the family photo. It would be lighter and easier to carry than the laptop. And if you were to never see your family again, you couldn't get another picture, but you could always buy another laptop.

I would keep my laptop because I could possibly contact somebody and I have family photos on my laptop. :)

hmm then again, i would get my laptop, put the picture inside, close the lap top, put personal item in my pocket, then swim to shore

Wow, thats hard. My personal item would be a prized possetion of mine which I would never want to let go, but I would bring a laptop because then I could communicate then call for help. But I would keep the photo because if I never saw them again, I would want to look at it everyday. Nice answer Sushi! :D

Family Photo or Lap-top. I chose Family Photo because, well, it's a Family Photo. Lap-top I would want is to send for help.

I chose Family Photo. (Hehe, I would end up the main character of Castaway) The laptop would be good too, but if it got wet, (which it would from the waves) it would be fried and might even electricute you. The personal item I really love too, I have had it forever, so it would be hard. Doesn't a laptop need a cable sometimes too?

Your in the middle of the ocean.
If you take the laptop, it is surely to get wet, which would make it useless to you.
If you take the photo, it will get wet, again, making it useless to you.
Now, depending on what your personal item is, it could also become useless by getting wet.
I find that this thread was not thought out very well, but I choose the personal item. ;)

Hey, you never know, you could have brought a plastic bag in your pocket or something along with some swimmies with a pail and a shovel. you can create a whole new island!!

I would take the Laptop for three reason:

1. The Backround is a pic of my family! :)

2. My Laptop is my favorite personal item! :)

3. E-mail for help!!! :)

I would have to say i would keep a family picture i mean if you're sinking then what's the point of keeping a laptop? Now i can see keeping a personal item, and i mean you only have one true family, and even if your picture does get wet it will always be nice to have something to remember your family by. It's just my family means more to me than some item.

Ok, I'm going to post my answer again because I thought it out.

I would shove my family photo inside the laptop, and keep the laptop. Yes, it could be heavy but it I could also use it as defense against creatures in the ocean. For example, I could throw it at a shark's eyes and the shark would then swim away. (Yes, my laptop could be lost or eaten, but that doesn't matter because it would have saved my life.) and if the laptop survived I would have it and the family photo. (Of course if it got wet I could get it fixed..)

Or if I found a sandbar and could hold it up I would send a text message to my dad or mom's cell phone (I have a program that let's me send text messages from my computer.) or email. Then I would use it for defense, lol.

I doubt the lap top would work, so i'd probably keep a family photo, although, if the personal item would count a soccer ball, i would keep that instead. :D

Yep. Unless you're like me. If I know I'm going to be near water, I carry everything in a waterproof bag. I'd just throw the laptop in the bag (which would already have everything else) and go.
But, unless you have wireless internet, the laptop may not do you any good. ;) Plus, the battery would run out and you'd have nothing to plug it in to.
